Judge orders jail time for wetlands damage: "SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- A judge in Chippewa County has ordered two men to serve five days in jail for driving off-road vehicles through sensitive wetlands on Drummond Island.
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality says Michael Edward Coon and Michael Donald Lucchesi pleaded guilty to violating the state's wetland protection law.
They destroyed vegetation and disturbed habitat of nesting ospreys and other wildlife.
In addition to the jail time, District Judge Michael MacDonald ordered them to fix the damage and pay $2,655 in fines and court costs."
