MUSKEGON, MI – The significance of Mercy Health Muskegon’s plan to invest $220 million on a new medical center for this community can’t be overstated.
The announcement was stunning last month in that the consolidated hospital system in Muskegon will forgo a phased consolidation of medical facilities and move right to a new nine-story medical center on the Mercy Campus at U.S. 31 and East Sherman Boulevard.
The move shows that Mercy Health Muskegon’s ownership, CHE Trinity Health, probably has more confidence in this community’s future than we do ourselves. Make no mistake: The Trinity decision to plan the medical center project is a huge bet on Muskegon.
