LANSING, MI -- The FBI’s Uniform Crime Report for 2013 was released Monday, detailing the number of reported violent and property crimes in the state.
Across Michigan, the violent crime rate in Michigan decreased about 1 percent  between 2012 and 2013, and the property crime rate decreased about 8 percent. 
The FBI organizes the data by types of agencies. So to get an idea of the crime in your community, you may have to look at the city, county and state police data. It all depends on what agency responds and handles the case.
REMINDER: This data represents only what is reported by the agencies. Some police departments do not report to the FBI.
