State Budget Has Increased $5 Billion the Past Three Years [Michigan Capitol Confidential]:
"Amid all the publicity of the city of Detroit’s bankruptcy and bailout, the scramble to find money for road repairs and school superintendents who have spun funding increases as reductions, what may be lost is that the overall state budget is projected to increase by $2 billion in fiscal 2014-15.
In fact, the state will spend about $4.7 billion more than it did in 2011-12, according to the Senate Fiscal Agency...
The state has appropriated $53.12 billion for 2014-15.
The overall state budget was $48.42 billion in 2011-12,
