"Almost half of the Senate, and nearly every Republican, warned Iran on Monday that it’s the role of Congress to approve international treaties, and that any agreement that fails to come before Congress would be treated as a short-term agreement with the Obama administration that could be quickly overturned.“[W]e will consider any agreement regarding your nuclear-weapons program that is not approved by the Congress as nothing more than an executive agreement between President Obama and Ayatollah Khamenei,” they wrote in an open letter to Iran. “The next president could revoke such an executive agreement with the stroke of a pen and future Congresses could modify the terms of the agreement at any time.”
