KENTWOOD, MI -- Two Grand Rapids sisters apparently thought they could outsmart Woodland Mall staff when they entered several clothing stores, and in one day managed to steal 81 items — $1,794.07 worth of merchandise, police said.
...The Kentwood Police officer first saw Ciera Portis walking among stores Nov. 6 and recognized her as being involved in previous retail frauds, according to court records.
He observed her via mall security cameras with a woman later identified as her sister.
The two were seen pushing a Sears shopping cart with a baby car seat attached and a large bag inside the cart, covered with a pink blanket, court records show....
