"...Pollock said bringing the kids in for help on the project will give them a sense of pride in the green space, which will have indigenous plant species aimed at bringing birds, butterflies and bugs to the area.
The four-lot patch on the corner of Mapleridge and Schoenherr Streets also serve as a sort of low-energy park, with a small walking path and series of benches situated in the center.
In addition to serving those already living in the Osborn community, the park is a step toward attracting others to the neighborhood.
The park is currently surrounded by vacant homes and buildings, though there were a few occupied homes facing the park.
The vacant buildings had recently been boarded up by the Osborn Neighborhood Alliance.
