It is being rushed through after the number of migrant incursions were said to have rocketed by more than sevenfold in the weeks surrounding the decision to quit the Brussels club.
The Brexit vote has caused uncertainty among migrants looking to sneak into Britain, with many fearing the UK’s withdrawal from the EU and subsequent beefing up of border security could make it more difficult.
Britain will foot the 2.7 million euro (£1.9m) bill for the towering wall, which will stand at four metres high and will stretch for more than a kilometre along the main dual carriageway to the port..."
