Visa Card Payments System Returns to Full Capacity after Crash
"Visa demonstrated the drawbacks of a cashless society yesterday when a hardware failure prevented cardholders across the UK and Europe from making purchases. The company has clarified that the error, now fully resolved, had nothing to do with hackers.
Millions of people were left unable to pay for goods and services across Europe after the unprecedented crash, which began at around 2.30pm.
Visa apologized late on Friday, saying it had fallen "well short" of its goal to ensure cards worked reliably at all times."
