Tbh, I think it already is backfiring
Firstly, YouTube's censorship has compelled dozens (hundreds?) of other channels to upload the video under different names, using different techniques for evading YouTube's content ID algorithms.
Secondly, the fact that these guys were silenced, not by open debate and criticism, but by the ad hoc and capricious application of "community standards" on what is supposed to be an open platform, basically just enhances people's curiosity.
Nobody likes being told what they are and are not allowed to hear.

The remarks of the Bakersfield doctors are probably a mix of truths and errors. 
YouTube's removal of the video does the public a disservice in both regards.
To the extent that they are wrong, their errors should be aired out and refuted...
