"Here's the location of the temperature sensor at Tampa International Airport, which recorded a record all-time high of 99 deg. F for Tampa yesterday
(UPDATE: contrary to news reports, it tied the high in June 1985).
While it was an unusually hot day, partly because of the Saharan air layer overhead, temperatures from this station will obviously be affected by interstate highways, runways, and jet traffic that did not exist in, say, 1950."

Judging by the jet, vehicle exhaust, and paving, the difference in temperature could be 5 degrees or more higher than the surrounding areas.
After riding a motorcycle on a cold morning, I welcomed the warmth of surrounding traffic and paving. The difference was noticeable. The heat of a jet exhaust would have been welcomed.
