Candice Miller: Rumors rampant on Detroit flooding cause

"A frustrated Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller said Wednesday she's waiting for answers on whether human error played a role in the weekend failure of the Detroit's Conners Creek Pump Station that contributed to massive flooding in Detroit and the Grosse Pointes. 

Miller said she's heard second-hand reports that

• backup generators didn't work at the facility run by the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) 
• and that the outside gates wouldn’t open, keeping workers from turning on generators. 

If true, she said she would have expected employees to ram the fence in such an emergency.

"The rumor mill is running rampant, I am asking the questions," Miller said. 

"I would like to know the answers. If there are no answers, well I guess I got to know that, too. Then we will know that we are sort of on our own."...Read all.
