"LANSING, MI — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer vetoed controversial election bills Friday that would

The governor’s veto is the last line of defense for Democrats, who have described Republican legislation to tighten election rules as “voter suppression.”
The governor vetoed SB 303, SB 304 and a related House bill on Friday, which would have required voters to take additional steps to have their ballot count if they don’t have an ID.
