- “Hate speech” in earlier arguments to ban it was equated with “fighting words” and incitements to violence, which don’t receive First Amendment protection. But increasingly, the self-righteous left has donned the halo of antidiscrimination laws to create a society that bans an array of spoken and written opinions they just don’t like.
