"Rochelle Walensky famously claimed many times that the COVID vaccine prevented infection and transmission of the virus.
Even after it became glaringly obvious that this was false, she kept on insisting that the cause of its failure to do so was the development of “variants,” and that the vaccine did work for the original virus. She just repeated this claim to Congress in testimony before a committee investigating the government’s response to the pandemic.

Nobody involved actually believed that the vaccine was 100% effective. 

How could they? 

The claim is implausible on its face, especially with a respiratory virus....
