"Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced in May she is forming the Growing Together Michigan Council to address the state’s population shedding. 

• Michigan was in No. 4 in the nation in 2022 for the most outbound moves.  

The issue is that Whitmer’s welcome sign reads, “Move to Michigan - where the only color seen more than orange barrels is red tape.”..

If U.S. News & World Report’s nationwide assessment has any validity, Michigan will not see a positive population shift anytime soon.
