There is a discrepancy between how Arabs and Israelis see peace, and that's perhaps what has made it elusive.

  • The Arabs see peace as such: ...we are willing to make peace with you ...if you reverse your victories and let us annihilate you -- Israel -- in peace...
  • The Israelis see peace as such: We are here to stay, whether you agree or not...So, if you want peace for the sake of peace, we'll be happy to sign it. If this means offering you some hard-won territory, let it be. BUT, we will never agree to any peace that will be the first step toward destroying Israel and reversing time to before it was declared in 1948.
- What I say, as an Arab: 
Israelis cannot compromise on their sovereignty, so let's guarantee that for them and concede the land, since we have 21 other sovereign governments and millions of squared miles that we don't even use. 
...that will still be a small price to pay to get Arabs out of this century-old conflict that has compounded our chronic failures...
