Documents show media plotting to kill stories about Rev. Jeremiah Wright The Daily Caller - Breaking News, Opinion, Research, and Entertainment
"It was the moment of greatest peril for then-Sen. Barack Obama’s political career.
In the heat of the presidential campaign, videos surfaced of Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, angrily denouncing whites, the U.S. government and America itself.
Obama had once bragged of his closeness to Wright.
Now the black nationalist preacher’s rhetoric was threatening to torpedo Obama’s campaign."

SHOCK: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event
SHOCK: Video Suggests Racism At NAACP Event - wcbstv.com
"The video shows Sherrod speaking of racial considerations being a factor for how much help she would give.
'The first time I was faced with having to help a white farmer save his farm, he took a long time talking but he was trying to show me he was superior to me. I know what he was doing, but he had come to me for help. What he didn't know while he was taking all that time trying to show me he was superior to me was, I was trying to decide just how much help I was going to give him,' Sherrod said.
'I was struggling with the fact that so many black people had lost their farmland, and here I was faced with having to help a white person save their land. So I didn't give him the full force of what I could do. I did enough,' Sherrod said. 'So that when he, I assumed the Department of Agriculture had sent him to me, either that or the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and he needed to go back and report that I did try to help him.'
In the video, Sherrod also spoke of referring the white farmer to a white lawyer, thinking the latter would be more sympathetic because of race. 'So I took him to a white lawyer that had attended some of training that we had provided because Chapter 12 bankruptcy had just been enacted for the family farm. So I figured if I take him to one of them, that his own kind would take care of him.'"

"Why would anyone but a slave pay for such a service?
The fact is, we won’t.
Newspapers and network news are dying.
And it isn’t, as Bollinger would have us believe, because of the internet or any other new technology.
If that were so, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal wouldn’t be thriving as they are.
Mainstream news outlets are dying because they distort the news in the name of leftism—and there’s simply no reason to use a news source that lies.
To combat the Murdoch effect here, Bollinger wants to build the British system that Murdoch helped enfeeble.
If the people won’t pay for left-wing distortions by choice, they must be forced to pay for them through taxation!
Thwarted in their dishonest purposes, the left does what it always does: they demonize the opposition and unleash the brute force of government.
But the fact is, we, the people, do not want their high moral instruction.
We simply want the bloody news."

"As you might guess, those appropriations requests are more densely packed with pork than a can of Spam — Kentucky-fried pork, of course. Seems the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant needs $116 million of your money.
The Forage Animal Production Unit needs $4 million.
The biofuel lobby needs a million dollars to be routed to it through the University of Kentucky.
Hopkinsville has a narcotics taskforce with its hand out.
Raytheon wants $12 million to put lasers on 20mm Gatling guns in Louisville — which at least sounds kind of awesome, but President Obama thinks they can do it with $6 million instead of $12 million.
Somebody wants to buy something called Fern Lake and make a park out of it, but they want you to pay for it — $1.2 million.
No, there’s no tab for “Cutting Spending,” but if you add up all the stuff that Senator McConnell lists under FH2011 Appropriations Requests, you come up with just about $600 million.
That’s a lot of cash — and that’s just the special-interest stuff he’s advertising on his website, not the big-ticket items.
So, let’s do some English-major math here: $600 million in feel-good spending multiplied by 100 U.S. senators equals . . . $60 billion, almost enough to pay for those unemployment benefits Senator McConnell is so keen to fight over — twice."

But it really doesn't matter.
You can vote for limited government, but you can't get it; the political class won't let you.
This is not to assert the silly proposition that there is no major difference between Democrats and Republicans.
The fiscal disaster that we have witnessed since the Democrats took control of Congress in 2007 proves the contrary.
But still: experience shows that voting for Republicans hasn't been enough to offset the power of the political class."

"And so it was prophesied: Illinois is headed into a public-pension death spiral even sooner than predicted.
The Land of Obama leads the way.
The state of Illinois — broke, overleveraged, and still refusing to get its accounts in order — is up to something interesting: selling bonds to meet its pension obligations.
As one of the many states that refuse to set aside adequate money to fund its public-employee pensions, Illinois is headed to the debt markets to raise $3.7 billion for pension liabilities to get it through the year.
This is a double dip: In January, Illinois sold $2.4 billion in bonds for pension obligations.
Actually, make that a triple dip: It sold $10 billion in bonds to fund its pension liabilities in 2003."

Now, two additional former DOJ attorneys have come forward to corroborate the hostility toward colorblind enforcement.

The witnesses are piling up and the stonewall is turning to rubble.
We may finally be getting to the reason why Eric Holder’s Justice Department has done everything possible to keep members of the trial team from testifying.

The analysis shows that the provisions creates a revolving “orderly liquidation fund,” with unlimited bailout-takeover authority rife for abuse.
This federal authority will endanger companies across the nation with unlimited government takeovers of their assets, operations, and ownership.

There is a bill that would require private canoes and kayaks to attach a registration decal on their crafts for an annual $5 fee.
'It's not the cost,' said Dwight Walker of Marshall who races kayaks.

"I later learned that the couple had come out of a Brooklyn shelter and were not only getting subsidized housing but also vouchers for furniture; food stamps; free health care from Medicaid, and, of course, welfare. They appeared to be in good health and when I visited their neighbors, I had a chance to meet the young man (who's white) and appeared to be in his early 20s. He complained about how bad the job situation was. 'Man, I can't find work anywhere,' he said.
I was sorely tempted to ask why he didn't apply at one of the local stores that had a 'Help Wanted' sign in the window but that would have been a merely rhetorical question. Minimum-wage jobs can't compete with a full-service welfare system that sucks people into dependency."

The science writer and Manhattan Institute fellow isn't cleaning gutters.
He's cleaning solar panels.
The 3,200-watts of solar photovoltaic panels provide one-third of the electricity that Bryce's family consumes, slightly reducing his monthly power bill.
But the panels aren't without problems: The start-up costs were high, the inverter has already broken once, and the panels require regular cleaning.
Bryce quickly wondered if the panels were worth the investment, and he soon realized that the limits of solar power for his Texas home extended to the rest of the country:
Solar power won't run America anytime soon.
Neither will wind power."

"Anyway, toward the end of today’s article Laffer has a stunning proposal:
Any government program that would reduce unemployment has to make working more attractive for both employer and employee. Since late 2007 the federal government has spent somewhere around $3.6 trillion to stimulate the economy.
That is a lot of money.
My suggestion would have been to take all $3.6 trillion and declare a federal tax holiday for 18 months.
No income tax, no corporate profits tax, no capital gains tax, no estate tax, no payroll tax (FICA) either employee or employer, no Medicare or Medicaid taxes, no federal excise taxes, no tariffs, no federal taxes at all, which would have reduced federal revenues by $2.4 trillion annually.
Can you imagine where employment would be today?
How does a 2.5% unemployment rate sound?
It’s a valid point.
Yes, it is.
In fact, it makes perfect sense.
However, there’s no room for “income redistribution,” graft, rewarding political allies and punishing political enemies, or increasing the power and control of the federal government in it.
Therefore there is no chance in hell of it ever happening, certainly not under any Socialist Democrat administration, and especially not under the Obamarxist administration.
Sadly, not under a GOP administration, either."

Inadequate Spending?
Inadequate Spending? NetRight Daily
"Specifically Krugman blasted several world leaders (although obviously not the leader of the “free world”) for what he called “preaching the need for belt-tightening when the real problem is inadequate spending.”
And no, that’s not a typo.
He actually said “inadequate spending.”
According to these “New Keynesians,” the unsustainable government growth that preceded the most recent economic downturn apparently wasn’t enough.
Nor was the unprecedented barrage of bailouts, taxpayer-funded guarantees, freshly-printed greenbacks and deficit spending that Washington threw at the problem over the last two years.
And let’s not forget what has been heaped on top of all that “stimulus” spending — a $2.5 trillion socialized medicine plan that represents one of the largest expansions of entitlement spending in American history.
Amazingly, despite the clear failure of the “stimulus” — and despite the fact that excess entitlement spending is what has driven the eurozone to its present precariousness — the rallying cry of these big government backers appears to be “we have only just begun to spend.”
Let’s examine the efficacy of that mantra"

The egregious, craven tactics of the New Black Panther Party Klan were caught on video.
One of the racist punks is carrying a pipe or stick of some type with the clear intent of intimidating voters attempting to enter the Philadelphia voting location.
Dumb power, baby."

FuturePundit: Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment Delays In Ontario
FuturePundit: Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment Delays In Ontario: "If your situation is described in this report consider a trip south of the border along with some cash or credit card to see an American specialist.
TORONTO, Ont., July 6, 2010 — Nearly 60 per cent of Ontarians with rheumatoid arthritis — an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints — were not seen by a specialist within a one year period to treat the debilitating disease, according to a new study. Even more concerning is that women of child-bearing age are less likely to see a specialist than women 45 or older, say researchers from St. Michael's Hospital, the Institute for Clinical and Evaluative Sciences (ICES), and Women's College Hospital.
A Canadian friend (living in southern Ontario at the time) complained to me for years that he couldn't get a general practitioner. Without a general practitioner he couldn't get a referral to a specialist. He got his medical care by going to emergency wards. This all made me very unkeen on Canadian health care as a model for the US."

Dem Baucus joins GOP in blasting Obama CMS recess appointment - The Hill's Healthwatch
Dem Baucus joins GOP in blasting Obama CMS recess appointment - The Hill's Healthwatch: "Berwick had not been vetted by the Finance panel, nor had Baucus scheduled a hearing to examine the nominee.
Baucus's office did not respond to requests for comment Wednesday. Baucus is the first Democrat to criticize the recess appointment, which Republicans have blasted.
“As if shoving a trillion-dollar government takeover of healthcare down the throat of a disapproving American public wasn't enough, apparently the Obama administration intends to arrogantly circumvent the American people yet again by recess-appointing one of the most prominent advocates of rationed healthcare to implement their national plan,' Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in a statement."

CNN Editor Fired for Saying She Has "Respect" for Hezbollah Cleric | The Weekly Standard
CNN Editor Fired for Saying She Has "Respect" for Hezbollah Cleric The Weekly Standard: "In a followup blog post last night, Nasr wrote that it 'was an error of judgment for me to write such a simplistic comment and I'm sorry because it conveyed that I supported Fadlallah's life's work. That's not the case at all.'
She explained that she knew about all the wicked aspects of Fadlallah's life--saying she even 'lost family members' in the barracks bombing--and was simply referring to the fact that she respected Fadlallah for his opposition to 'honor' killings and beating women. But saying you respect Fadlallah for opposing murdering and beating (Muslim) women is almost like saying you respect Osama bin Laden for building day care centers.
CNN doesn't think Nasr's apology makes"

Government jobs: Bloated pay, benefits cost us all - USATODAY.com
"Feel like you're not paid enough?
Worry about losing your job?
Wish you had better benefits?
Ever think about quitting?
If you answered 'yes' to these questions, one thing is certain: You don't work for Uncle Sam.
That's because federal workers are much better off than private-sector workers in all the major markers of job satisfaction — salary, job security, benefits and job desirability. And it's costing taxpayers a bundle.
Start with the money. The average federal employee earns an annual salary almost 60% higher than the average private-sector employee — $79,000 vs. $50,000.

"” The last time a world empire fell apart, it was about 1500 years ago.
Then, the empire was Roman…. …
What led the Barbarians walk over Rome is something that won’t take you a second to sympathize with.
The taxes were too high, to pay for the army that was losing all the battles, and a bunch of freeloaders in government, and of course, and to pay for thousands of civil servants.”"

Summer lunchrooms fill nutrition gap for needy kids
Summer lunchrooms fill nutrition gap for needy kids Health & Medicine Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
"Every school day, about 2.3 million low-income Texas children eat subsidized meals, but the numbers drop dramatically in the summer.
This time of year, hundreds of thousands of youngsters statewide go hungry or survive on food that's not necessarily nutritious, officials say."
Yeah, lots of starving kids "surviving" on burgers and frys.
Why don't the democrats just admit that they don't really like parents?

Time for a Little Perspective on Oil Spills
American Thinker: Time for a Little Perspective on Oil Spills
"But these incidents are dwarfed by the 1979 Gulf of Mexico Pemex/Ixtoc I Oil blowout -- until now the largest accidental spill in history. This spill lasted almost ten months, releasing between ten and thirty thousand barrels per day (BPD). In total, it released approximately 3.3 million barrels into the Gulf.
Using the current upper end estimate of 60,000 BPD, the Deepwater Horizon spill has now surpassed the Pemex spill, so it can rightfully claim its place as record-holder for accidental spills. But it still is dwarfed by Saddam Hussein's deliberate release of somewhere between 5.7 and 11 million barrels from tankers ten miles off the Kuwaiti coast.
While the Pemex spill affected 162 miles of coastline in Texas and Mexico, the long-term environmental consequences were negligible. As one marine biologist put it, 'To be honest, considering the magnitude of the spill, we thought the Ixtoc spill was going to have catastrophic effects for decades. ... But within a couple of years, almost everything was close to 100 percent normal again.'"

Students given diplomas at NYC schools, despite failing grades and poor attendance
Students given diplomas at NYC schools, despite failing grades and poor attendance - NYPOST.com
"Tatiana Reina wanted to graduate in the worst way -- and she did.
The 21-year-old was enrolled at Lafayette HS in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, for six years with a dismal record marked by truancy and failing grades. She faked her own graduation in 2007, donning a cap and gown and sneaking into the receiving line. Faced with 'aging out' of the school system this year, she got a last chance and still didn't bother going to class.
'She was a no-show all year,' a school insider said. Regulations call for at least 90 percent attendance to be promoted or to graduate.
Brooklyn student Tatiana Reina, 21, graduated high school in June despite never showing up.
But that didn't stop the principal, Jacqueline Boswell, from granting Reina a diploma."
This is the kind of school and the type of behavior that deserves MORE Obama money...right?
