Our Economy Is About to Implode

Our Economy Is About to Implode | RealClearPolitics
"Beware the Ides of March,” the soothsayer warned in Shakespeare’s play “Julius Caesar.”
A Roman religious holiday, the Ides (15th) of March was the day on which Roman consuls assumed office — and the day Caesar was assassinated.

For the United States, and the world economy, the Ides will be around March 4 this year, predicted Grady Means in October 2012.
Mr. Means isn’t a doomsayer who’s predicted 11 of the last two recessions.
He isn’t trying to sell gold, silver or freeze-dried food.
He was managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, an assistant to Vice President Nelson Rockefeller and wrote well-regarded books on international finance.
And he isn’t alone in issuing warnings.
“We expect the bottom to fall out by the second quarter of 2014,” Trends Research Institute founder Gerald Celente predicted last October.
Because the dollar is the world’s reserve currency, America is, in effect, the real world bank.
Soon there’ll be a run on it, though, because our massive deficits have eroded foreign investors’ faith in the safety of the dollar, Mr. Means said.
The run on the bank “will start suddenly, build quickly and snowball,” Mr. Means said.
“Interest rates will skyrocket, businesses will fail, unemployment will go to record levels.”
It will start when we add “another trillion dollars or so” to our debt, Mr. Means wrote in The Washington Times Oct. 25, 2012.
The national debt — $16.3 trillion when he wrote those words — is $17.3 trillion now

Michigan Democrat Rep. Gary Peters threatens TV station licenses over Obamacare ad

Michigan Democrat Rep. Gary Peters threatens TV station licenses over Obamacare ad | WashingtonExaminer.com:
"While Julie Boonstra of Dexter, Mich., struggles to survive leukemia, she now also has to cope with being called a liar by the Democrat who wants to be her next senator.

And the campaign of Rep. Gary Peters is also going after television stations airing ads in which her story is featured, threatening their licenses.

The ad by Americans for Prosperity features Boonstra talking about how her insurance was canceled under Obamacare and saying that Peters' decision to vote for the law "jeopardized my health."
The ads are airing in Michigan as Peters seeks the Democratic nomination to replace Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., who is not seeking re-election."

Obama/Evita---------WH: 'We Don't Want Deficit Reduction to Come at Expense of Investments'

Banana republics don't need no stinkin' deficit reduction!
WH: 'We Don't Want Deficit Reduction to Come at Expense of Investments' | CNS News:
"So much for deficit reduction. President Obama's Fiscal Year 2015 budget, due out in March, will focus on "investments" for "a stronger future," Obama's top economic adviser said on Thursday.
Savings will be "directed towards the long-term."
"And I think what we don't want is for our deficit reduction to come at the expense of the investments in the future," Gene Sperling, director of the National Economic Council, told Politico's "Morning Money Breakfast Briefing" on Thursday.
"You want to have a more robust ability to invest in research, in children, in training and higher skills.
Those are things -- infrastructure -- those are the things where one generation invests for a stronger future."
Sperling described the president's budget proposal as "pro-growth.""

Echoes of the IRS in the FCC Snooping Scanda

Echoes of the IRS in the FCC Snooping Scandal | National Review Online:
The IRS targeting scandal is of course multi-faceted, but one of its key elements was the use of comprehensive IRS questionnaires to determine everything from tea-party donor and member lists to the actions and activities of family members and even identifying “persons or entities with which you maintain a close relationship.”
In other words, the Obama administration IRS was abusing its regulatory authority to essentially discern the inner workings of an entire political and cultural movement.

Just say no to college! Why it’s the worst decision a young American can make

Just say no to college! Why it’s the worst decision a young American can make - Salon.com:
"Let’s start off with the basics.
In 2012, 71 percent of all students who graduated accrued some amount of student loan debt, with the average amount of debt soaring to $29,400.
More than half of student loans officially became delinquent or in deferral in 2013.
New information indicates this trend will only worsen; recent college graduates face the worst unemployment rate in more than 20 years, as well as severe underemployment, with 44 percent of grads saying they could find work but not enough of it.
Not even the vaunted STEM fields are immune from the perils of cheap labor, smartsizing, and the Great Recession. "

Why not just BAN "trash" (and all other "bad" things)?------Ban plastic bags, statewide

This is an editorial from an American newspaper:
"It's time to bring the other two-thirds of Californians into line."
Holy crapoli!

Ban plastic bags, statewide - latimes.com:
"Ban plastic bags, statewide
"The latest bill in Sacramento needs work, but it would create uniformity in addressing a serious environmental hazard."

The bill to ban single-use plastic carryout bags is back, and California has never been more ready for it.

A third of Californians, including shoppers in the city of Los Angeles, already must either use their own reusable bags at the supermarket or pay a small fee for a paper one.
It's time to bring the other two-thirds of Californians into line."

The voice of the people rings out loud and long!

Why the eruption in Kiev could set off a tsunami that will engulf us all: As Ukraine burns, a stark warning from our most authoritative historian of Eastern Europe

Why the eruption in Kiev could set off a tsunami that will engulf us all: As Ukraine burns, a stark warning from our most authoritative historian of Eastern Europe | Mail Online:

The fall of Lenin: Protestors angry over the Ukraine's close associate to Russia attempt to rid themselves of the pro-communist iconography-Television pictures of revolutions can make them seem like a spectator sport.

-Having Vitali Klitschko, the world heavyweight boxing champion, playing a starring role in the events in Kiev reinforces that impression.

-But the implosion of the Ukrainian state in the last 48 hours is a political earthquake.

-Chaos in Kiev could set off a tsunami that will toss Western Europe from its moorings too."

"It is a mistake to think we are watching from a safe distance.
Maybe Ukraine is as foreign to the British people today as it was when an obscure crisis on its southern coast in Queen Victoria’s reign became the Crimean War.
But not since the 1850s has this country (England) come so close to colliding with Russia.
Ukraine sits on the fault line dividing Eastern Europe between pro-Western and pro-Russian views.
Her people are split over attitudes to the old imperial capital, Moscow."

Obama=Evita-------And the Money Kept Rolling In Lyrics - "Evita" the musical

The last post got me to thinking about my favorite song from the musical Evita, "And the money kept rolling in".
The words describing the corruption and intoxicating promises of a failed banana republic are strikingly familiar.
And this, from leftist Broadway!

And the Money Kept Rolling In Lyrics - "Evita" the musical

[Che:]
Eva's pretty hands reached out and they reached wide

Now you may feel it should have been a voluntary cause
But that's not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling in, you don't ask how
Think of all the people guaranteed a good time now

Eva's called the hungry to her, open up the doors
Never been a fund like the Foundation Eva Peron

[Chorus:]
[Workers:]
Rollin' rollin' rollin', rollin' rollin' rollin'

Rollin' rollin' rollin', rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin', rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin', rollin' rollin' rollin'

Rollin' on in, rollin' on in
Rollin' on in, rollin' on in
On in

[Che:]
Would you like to try a college education?
Own your landlord's house, take the family on vacation?
Eva and her blessed fund can make your dreams come true

Here's all you have to do my friends
Write your name and your dream on a card or a pad or a ticket
Throw it high in the air and should our lady pick it
She will change your way of life for a week or even two
Name me anyone who cares as much as Eva Peron

[chorus]
Rollin' on out, rollin' on out
Rollin' on out, rollin' on out
On out

[Che:]
And the money kept rolling out in all directions
To the poor, to the weak, to the destitute of all complexions
Now cynics claim a little of the cash has gone astray
But that's not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling out you don't keep books
You can tell you've done well by the happy grateful looks
Accountants only slow things down, figures get in the way
Never been a lady loved as much as Eva Peron

[chorus]
Rollin' on out, rollin' on out
Rollin' on out, rollin' on out
On out

[Che:]
Eva!!!
When the money keeps rolling out you don't keep books
You can tell you've done well by the happy grateful looks
Accountants only slow things down, figures get in the way
Never been a lady loved as much as Eva Peron

[chorus]
Rollin' on out, rollin' on out
Rollin' on out, rollin' on out
Rollin' on out, rollin' on out
On out

And the money keeps rollin' in-----Obama to unveil new manufacturing institutes in Chicago, Detroit

13 (or more!) years of free public education isn't enough?
Obama to unveil new manufacturing institutes in Chicago, Detroit - latimes.com:
"Each institute will function as a “teaching factory,” the official said, and will provide training for workers while also helping companies get the expertise and equipment they need to offer new products and manufacturing processes.
The government will put up $140 million to match the more than $140 million promised by the private sector leaders involved with each project, said the official, who requested anonymity to discuss the plans before the official announcement next week.
The federal government will devote $70 million to each of the two institutes."

WOMAN LAMENTS LACK OF CHIVALRY

Instapundit » Blog Archive » WOMAN LAMENTS LACK OF CHIVALRY: Has anyone ever helped pop my bag up into the overhead compartmen…:
"Has anyone ever helped pop my bag up into the overhead compartment?
Nope.
Have I seen any other woman helped?
Nope.
This week, an engineer in his 50s just stood there in the aisle, his hands clasped, as I played Olympic weight-lifting with my suitcase right in front of him.
Just stood there, looking intently at the sticky carpet.
Probably afraid to chip a nail or something.
Has the women’s liberation movement really scared the bejesus out of men this much?
When did it become chivalrous to steadfastly look away and not bother to help?
If a 6am flight is anything to go by, you’d think the concept of a gentleman was well and truly dead.
I promise you, I won’t get angry or defensive or give you attitude, I’ll in fact be super-grateful and flash you an extra-big smile despite the lack of sleep."

"Chivalry was a system, which imposed behavioral obligations on women as well as on men.
Women were happy to cast their obligations off, yet seem perennially surprised that men haven’t stayed exactly the same."

California Bill Would Extend 'Obamacare' To Illegal Immigrants

California Bill Would Extend 'Obamacare' To Illegal Immigrants:
"Via Talking Points Memo:
A California bill would extend health coverage to undocumented immigrants, using an Obamacare-style program to assist those left uncovered by the health care reform law.
Kaiser Health News reported that the legislation, introduced by state Sen. Ricardo Lara, a Democrat, would use state dollars to pay for Medicaid coverage for low-income residents who are in the state illegally.
No federal funding would be used.
It would also establish an online marketplace where undocumented immigrants with higher incomes could buy private insurance.
Up to 2.6 million undocumented immigrants live in California, where they can currently receive emergency medical care and pregnancy care.
About 1 million of them are estimated to be uninsured, according to KHN.
What do you think of the idea of giving free health care benefits to illegal aliens?"

“I just want to be the ultimate Barbie. I actually want to be brainless,” Blondie Bennett, 38, told Barcroft TV. “I don’t like being human, if that makes sense… Natural is boring… I would love to be like, completely plastic.
She is so serious about her goal that she uses hypnotherapy sessions in order to decrease her IQ.
“I’ve had 20 sessions and I’m already starting to feel ditzy and confused all the time,” Bennett told the Daily Mail.
She is undergoing the sessions two to three times a week.
“Recently I went to pick a friend up at the airport and couldn’t remember if I needed to go to departures or arrivals. I also got lost for three hours driving to my mum’s house – the house where I grew up.”
Bennett already has had five breast augmentations costing more than $41,000 and plastic surgery in order to become the “ultimate Barbie.” Although her family and friends don’t approve, it hasn’t stopped her from chasing what she thinks is the perfect life.
“When people ask why I want to be Barbie I think ‘who wouldn’t want to be?’” she told the Daily Mail. “She has the best life. All she does is shop and make herself look pretty – she doesn’t worry about anything.”
Bennett is currently unemployed but makes money from men who pay her in exchange for pictures of her dressed up as Barbie.
