Ted Cruz ON FIRE! Could This be His Best Speech Ever? | The PolitiStick:
"I’ve heard a lot of great speeches by Senator Ted Cruz, a principled constitutional conservative and the only true orator in the presidential race among the 21 candidates running for president in both parties.
The former national collegiate debate champion is such a constitutional badass that he actually memorized the entire U.S. Constitution — word for word — as a teenager, and has given a lot of memorable speeches, including his historic 21-hour marathon, anti-Obamacare filibuster on the Senate floor and his epic takedown of establishment RINO Senate Majority Leader, Obama’s Mitch McConnell, in which he outed the conniving spineless squish, using the politically avoided “L” word, exposing McConnell’s serial lies to the American public."

Did a hacked Hillary email set up the ambush of Ambassador Christopher Stevens?
Blog: Did a hacked Hillary email set up the ambush of Ambassador Christopher Stevens?
Putting together the information now publicly available, the question has to be asked:
Did an ISIS hack of Hillary Clinton’s virtually defenseless home brew server set up the death of Ambassador Christopher Stevens?
ISIS has proven itself adept enough at information technology that a successful hack of Hillary Clinton’s server at her Chappaqua mansion cannot be ruled out, no matter how many Secret Service members stood guard.
Apparently unbeknownst to the former secretary of state who boasted of the server’s security because of the guards outside, it is so easy to hack a garden variety server set up by a mom-and-pop operation that an ISIS (and Russian intelligence and Chinese and Romanian and many other agencies) hack is well within the realm of possibility.
Now consider what the New York Post reported yesterday, six paragraphs into a story.
Paul Sperry writes:
US intelligence officials so far have determined that at least four — and as many as 305 — of the more than 30,000 e-mails Clinton and her aides have printed out and turned over to investigators were classified at the time they were written.
They include a 2011 message from Clinton’s top aides that contains military intelligence from United States Africa Command gleaned from satellite images of troop movements in Libya, along with the travel and protection plans for Ambassador Christopher Stevens, who was later killed in a terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.
Another staff e-mail sent to Clinton in 2012 contained investigative data about Benghazi terrorist suspects wanted by the FBI. (emphasis added)
If the travel and protection plans for Ambassador Stevens were known to ISIS on September 10, 2011, then setting up the attack that resulted in his and three other Americans’ deaths would have been considerably aided.

Instead of wasting $$trillions on "green" scams, let's fund something that might actually produce energy-----Making hydrogen fuel from water and visible light at 100 times higher efficiency
Making hydrogen fuel from water and visible light at 100 times higher efficiency | KurzweilAI:
They report in Journal of Physical Chemistry that by absorbing the entire visible light spectrum, they have increased the yield and energy efficiency of creating hydrogen fuel by up to two magnitudes (100 times) greater than previously reported.**
As described in the paper, they used three new techniques to achieve that:
- “Black titanium dioxide” (with 1 percent platinum) on a silicon dioxide substrate;
- A “light-diffuse-reflected surface” to trap light;
- An elevated reaction temperature (280 degrees Celsius).
In addition, the new setup is “convenient for scaling up commercially,” said Ho.
* TiO2 has a relatively large band gap energy (3.0−3.2 eV) and thus it can absorb only ultraviolet (UV) light (about 4% of the total solar energy), leading to a low photoconversion efficiency (less than 2% under AM 1.5 global sunlight illumination).
** The new method achieves a photo hydrogen yield of 497 mmol/h/g and an apparent quantum efficiency of 65.7% for the entire visible light range at 280 °C.

Cruz vows to ‘lead fight’ vs. Planned Parenthood:

Outrage spreads as cities plan Ramadan dinner celebration on 9/11
Outrage spreads as cities plan Ramadan dinner celebration on 9/11 | BizPac Review:
"The Democratic mayors of two Michigan cities plan to celebrate September 11th this year by honoring Sharia and hosting their “9th Annual Ramadan Unity Dinner.”
Ramadan ended in July, but the Islamic Society of Greater Lansing has scheduled its dinner at the city-owned convention center on the very day when 19 Muslim terrorists killed 2,977 innocent victims at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and three crashed airliners, 14 years ago.
In an almost unbelievable act of callousness and dishonor of those victims, Mayors Virg Bernero and Nathan Triplett of Lansing and East Lansing, respectively, will host a dinner themed “Hope, Not Hunger.”
The event’s poster features an Islamic crescent and a skyline of mosque-styled buildings."

No money for roads. Lots for "quality of life"-----Public bike sharing coming to Detroit
Public bike sharing coming to Detroit
SEMCOG announces more than $6.4 million in transportation funding for projects in metro Detroit.
Detroit will get more than $1 million to launch a public bike share program, one of 14 projects tapped to get federal funding in the region, according to the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments.
...These are quality-of-life projects that impact us all," Kathleen Lomako, SEMCOG's executive director, said in a news release.
...For Detroiters, the additional money will mean the start of a public bike share program, possibly as early as the spring of 2016.
...It would also offer a low threshold for ridership, helping encourage people who do not normally ride bikes to give it a try, Nuszkowski said.
"I kind of view it as the gateway drug for biking and healthier living in general," she said.
..."Needless to say, the public benefit is significant," Vanderpool said..."

Puerto Rico Plays Chicken With Its Creditors
Puerto Rico Plays Chicken With Its Creditors - WSJ:
"On Sept. 1 the state-owned Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (Prepa) faces a deadline for restructuring more than $8 billion in debt.
If it can’t come to an agreement with creditors, a previous forbearance agreement will expire and the company will face default.
In that event, bondholders could be expected to go to court to begin the process of receivership, as the bond contracts stipulate.
This high-stakes negotiation comes when Puerto Rico is asking Congress to give its municipalities and public agencies access to the chapter 9 bankruptcy protection the 50 states have.
A Prepa default would be disruptive and possibly increase the odds that Congress will agree.
But failure on the part of the utility to negotiate in good faith also could backfire and jeopardize support in Washington for giving Puerto Rico chapter 9 protection.
It could also reduce sympathy on the mainland for the write-down of other Puerto Rico debt issues—which total some $63 billion—that Gov. Alejandro GarcĂa Padilla says he needs to get the island growing again..."

Liberals outraged Ted Cruz accurately compared Obama to Jimmy Carter - Spokane Conservative | Examiner.com:
"The post also claimed that "the 'weak' Carter brokered the Camp David accords, ending decades of strife between Israel and Egypt. And he got the hostages home from Iran without dropping a single bomb, despite GOP attempts to creit (sic) Reagan for events that occurred before his swearing in."
What the DU poster failed to mention, however, is that the Iran crisis went on for over 440 days. Carter launched a rescue attempt in April 1980, but the effort failed. Eight U.S. servicemen were killed and the operation was called off. The hostages were not released until after Ronald Reagan was sworn into office, despite a December agreement. The embassy in Tehran is now an Islamic cultural center and museum.
Oddly enough, none of the media outlets reporting on the issue questioned the veracity of Cruz's statement. A Google search revealed that all of the reporting was centered on the timing of his comments. In short, Cruz told the truth and the left simply couldn't handle it."

More on the minimum wage-related job losses on the West Coast, and why they might be worse than reported
More on the minimum wage-related job losses on the West Coast, and why they might be worse than reported - AEI | Carpe Diem Blog » AEIdeas:
"Over the last year, three West Coast cities – Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle – have passed $15 an hour minimum wage laws that will be in full effect by 2018 in San Francisco and Seattle and by 2020 in Los Angeles.
On the way to the full $15 an hour, Seattle increased its minimum wage to $11 on April 1 and San Francisco increased its minimum wage to $12.25 on May 1.
In addition, the Los Angeles city council last fall passed a targeted minimum wage of $15.37 an hour for hotel workers that just went into effect on July 1.
What effects are these minimum wage increases having?
As I (and other economists) have reported here, here and here there is already preliminary evidence that the minimum wage hikes in all three cities have had negative employment effects: a loss of 1,300 restaurant jobs in the Seattle area between January and June, a loss of 2,500 restaurant jobs in the San Francisco metro area over the last year, and a loss of 2,200 hotel jobs in the Los Angeles area over the last year.
...Bottom Line:
Economic logic and common sense suggest that employment patterns in the outlying suburban areas of Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco, where there was no change in the minimum wage, would more likely track the pattern of jobs in the rest of the states of California (where hotel and restaurant jobs increased) and Washington (where restaurant jobs increased), that those areas would follow the pattern of job losses within the nearby city limits where the minimum wage increased significantly. In that case, the reported hotel jobs lost in LA, and the reported restaurant jobs lost in San Francisco and Seattle, would actually underestimate the true number of jobs lost within the cities of LA, Seattle and San Francisco due to the minimum wage hikes this year.

Global warming: Deceptive temperature record claims
TOM HARRIS: Global warming: Deceptive temperature record claims - Washington Times:
"The U.S. government is at it again, hyping meaningless records in a parameter that does not exist in order to frighten us about something that doesn’t matter.
NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced this week that according to their calculations, July 2015 was the hottest month since instrumental records began in 1880.
NOAA says that the record was set by eight one-hundredths of a degree Celsius over that set in July 1998.
NASA calculates that July 2015 beat what they assert was the previous warmest month (July 2011) by two one-hundredths of a degree.
But government spokespeople rarely mention the inconvenient fact that these records are being set by less than the uncertainty in the statistics.
NOAA claims an uncertainty of 14 one-hundredths of a degree in its temperature averages, or near twice the amount by which they say the record was set.
NASA says that their data is typically accurate to one tenth of a degree, five times the amount by which their new record was set.
So, the new temperature records are meaningless.
Neither agency knows whether a record was set.
Such misrepresentations are now commonplace in NOAA and NASA announcements.
They are regularly proclaiming monthly and yearly records set by less than the uncertainties in the measurements. Scientists within the agencies know that this is dishonest.
They also know that calculating so-called global average temperatures to hundredths of a degree is irrational.
After all, there is very little data for the 70 percent of Earth’s surface that is ocean.
There is also little data for mountainous and desert regions, not to mention the Antarctic.
Much of the coverage is so sparse that NASA is forced to make the ridiculous claim that regions are adequately covered if there is a temperature-sensing station within nearly 750 miles...
In the final analysis, it is no more meaningful to calculate an average temperature for a whole planet than it is to calculate the avera
ge telephone number in the Washington D.C. phone book. Temperature, like viscosity and density, and of course phone numbers, is not something that can be meaningfully averaged.
“Global temperature” does not exist.
...The sad answer will be that it had nothing to do with the realities of science, technology or economics.
The tragic blunder is based on satisfying political expedience for a privileged few, egged on by vested financial interests, and supported by largely uninformed activists granted the media platforms needed to sway public opinion.
As Jay Lehr, science director of the Chicago-based Heartland Institute said, “It is a scam that dwarfs all others that have come before.”"

However, since Pluto has an oblong orbit and overlaps the orbit of Neptune it disqualified Pluto as a planet.

Women to parade topless through New York in the name of feminism - Life & Style - NZ Herald News: "Women will parade topless through the streets of New York on Sunday, flashing their breasts in the name of feminist liberation as they celebrate annual GoTopless Day.
The marches are organised by women's rights group GoTopless, which campaigns for women to be able to go shirtless across the world.
It is already legal for women to bare their breasts in public in America's biggest city, and police will seal off the route of the parade from Columbus Circle to Bryant Park, organisers said.
Dozens of people are expected to take part when the march begins at 12.30 pm.
Parallel events will take place in Los Angeles' Venice Beach as well as other US and European cities.

"I’m not asking us to overlook Clinton. She’s been reckless with government secrets, and her excuses are ridiculous. The fact that items are sometimes retroactively tagged as classified is all the more reason she should have secured every last bit of information that passed through her email account. Her dismissive “Like with a cloth or something” remark will likely be her “I did not have sex with that woman” moment.
And the State Department situation is a further avenue to criticize Clinton. Most of us would have been aghast at the idea of government secrets being handled with so little oversight. Not Clinton. Where others would have seen a problem that needed fixing for the sake of the country, Clinton saw an opportunity to make life easier for herself."

Reporter: Using the term ‘anchor baby’ is offensive. Trump: Boo Hoo, I’m using it.
As you’re no doubt aware, saying ‘Donald Trump isn’t interested in political correctness’ is a little bit of an understatement.
The one constant in his campaign has been that he says what he wants, how he wants, and if you’re going to try to challenge him on it, you’re in for a struggle.
The press can’t stand this, because they know his attitude resonates with voters.
So, when he outlined his plans to deal with illegal immigration, they were ready to pounce.
Trump gave them an opening by using the term “anchor baby” during his press conference. Evidently, the phrase “Anchor baby” is now one of those not-really-offensive phrases over which progressive can express their completely phony outrage.

“You said that you have a big heart, and that you’re not mean-spirited,” The reporter said. “Are you aware that the term ‘anchor baby,’ that’s an offensive term?
People find that hurtful.”
Trump, true to form, wasn’t interested in playing the PC game.
“You mean it’s not politically correct, and yet everybody uses it?” he said.
“So, you know what?
Give me a different term.
Give me a different term.
What else would you like me to say?”
The reporter suggested that Trump should refer to them as “The American-born child of an undocumented immigrant.”
“You want me to say that,” Trump mocked.
“OK, No.
I’ll use the word Anchor Baby...”

Animal rights activist beaten with duck in Spain
Animal rights activist beaten with duck in Spain - Yahoo News:
"Madrid (AFP) - An animal rights activist was beaten with a duck by a Spanish woman defending one of the country's most bizarre and controversial festival traditions.
The man was whacked with the bird while he filmed the annual "duck chase" in the Catalonian seaside town of Roses, where every August ducks are thrown into the Mediterranean and then caught and brought back to the shore by swimmers.
"Continue, continue. Continue to abuse, I am filming you. A little bit of empathy for the animals.
They also have a life, like your children or your family," the man who was filming can be heard saying in a video of the incident released by animal rights group Animal Rescue Espana.
The footage shows a young woman wearing a white bathing suit attack the man with a duck -- holding it by the legs as she repeatedly lashes him with it.

What Would Happen if a Massive Solar Storm Hit the Earth?
What Would Happen if a Massive Solar Storm Hit the Earth?
We all know that major storms can wreak havoc, flooding cities and decimating infrastructure. But there’s an even bigger worry than wind and rain: space weather.
If a massive solar storm hit us, our technology would be wiped out.
The entire planet could go dark.
“We’re much more reliant on technology these days that is vulnerable to space weather than we were in the past,” said Thomas Berger, director of the Space Weather Prediction Center at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
He told Gizmodo, “If we were hit by an extreme event today, it’d be very difficult to respond.”
“Solar storm” is a generic term used to describe a bunch of stuff the Sun hurls our way, including x-rays, charged particles, and magnetized plasma.
A massive solar storm hasn’t hit the Earth since the mid-19th century, but space weather scientists are very worried about the possibility of another.
A solar storm usually starts with a solar flare — a giant explosion on the surface of the sun that sends energy and particles streaming off into space.
...One of the most powerful flares measured with modern instruments took place during a solar maximum in 2003.
It was so large it maxed out our satellite sensors, which registered an X-28 (28 types larger than an X-1 flare, which itself is 10 times greater than an M1 flare).
...But even that 1989 storm looks puny in comparison to the Carrington event, a geomagnetic storm that zapped the Earth 156 years ago.
At the time, the damage wasn’t too bad.
But a Carrington-sized storm today could spell disaster.
The Carrington event of September, 1859 is named for Richard Carrington, the English astronomer who saw the sun flare up with his own eyes.
In the days following Carrington’s observation, a series of powerful CMEs hit the Earth head-on, igniting the northern lights as far south as Cuba.
Currents electrified telegraph lines, shocked technicians, set telegraph papers on fire, and caused widespread communications outages..."

"Page, wearing sunglasses and a hat, reportedly snuck up on Cruz as he was grilling pork chops at the fair.
“What about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans?” the actress asked.
Cruz responded, “Well, what we’re seeing right now, we’re seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith.”

STONEWALLED: Feds Hide Fiscal Details About Vast Operation To Resettle Illegal Alien Minors
STONEWALLED: Feds Hide Fiscal Details About Vast Operation To Resettle Illegal Alien Minors - Breitbart:
Illegal aliens who show up at the border have been resettled all across United States of America instead of being detained and deported, as Donald Trump recently called for in his new immigration plan.
According to data from the Justice Department obtained by Breitbart News, 96 percent of Central Americans caught illegally crossing into the country last summer are still in the United States.
Now Breitbart News has learned exclusively that a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from a pro-security group about the cost of this operation is being stonewalled.
...The federal agency, however, refused to answer many of these questions– instead only partially answering two of the five requests.
The agency provided only the costs of transporting, transferring and removing illegal minors, as well as the costs of the man-hours such tasks required.
Those costs totaled $58.2 million—quadrupling ICE’s costs of $15.6 million in the year previous.

Another EPA disaster, this time in rural Georgia
Another EPA disaster, this time in rural Georgia - Watchdog.org:
Still reeling from a disaster it created at a Colorado gold mine, the EPA has so far avoided criticism for a similar toxic waste spill in Georgia.
In Greensboro, EPA-funded contractors grading a toxic 19th-century cotton mill site struck a water main, sending the deadly sediment into a nearby creek.
Though that accident took place five months ago, the hazard continues as heavy storms — one hit the area Tuesday — wash more soil into the creek.
The sediment flows carry dangerous mercury, lead, arsenic and chromium downstream to Lake Oconee and then to the Oconee River — home to many federally and state protected species.
Lead in the soil at the project site is 20,000 times higher than federal levels established for drinking water, said microbiologist Dave Lewis, who was a top-level scientist during 31 years at the Environmental Protection Agency.
...But while the nation is transfixed by the bright orange waterways in otherwise pristine Colorado wilderness, little attention has been paid to the unfolding Greensboro disaster.
...The Environmental Protection Agency has denied — but now admits — that it funded the cleanup and development project the triggered the catastrophe.
...“There is no federal agency involved with this project at the mill property,” EPA Regional Administrator Heather McTeer Toney wrote Lewis on Jan. 9.
“This property does not warrant federal action at this time.”
...Five months later, in a May 28 letter to Lewis, Toney admitted the program was an “EPA brownfields grant-funded project” and that “remediation must be conducted in a manner that is protective of human health and the environment.”
...And involving lead, it appears that the EPA is violating its own standards.
The agency prohibits release of untreated lead-laden water into the waterways and cites the Clean Water Act, saying:
“The CWA prohibits anyone from discharging pollutants, including lead, through a point source into a water of the United States unless they have a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System(NPDES) permit.”

Naomi Klein admits global warming is not about science but destroying capitalism | Green Jihad
The Heartland Institute published a very revealing article about Leftist shock jock Naomi Klein who just published a new anti-capitalst screed entitled This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate.
Essentially, Ms. Klein admits that the issue of climate change (formerly known as global warming) is not about science but really about overthrowing capitalism.

Essentially, Ms. Klein admits that the issue of climate change (formerly known as global warming) is not about science but really about overthrowing capitalism.
“Our economic model is at war with the Earth,” writes Klein.
“We cannot change the laws of nature. But we can change our economy.
Climate change is our best chance to demand and build a better world.”
“We cannot change the laws of nature. But we can change our economy.
Climate change is our best chance to demand and build a better world.”
....I am sure Ms. Klein has no problem traveling by plane, car, or train in order to promote herself or her publications.
If global warming is not about science then I guess, in Klein’s mind, her promotion without regard for her carbon footprint is justified since if people like her are successful then her emissions won’t matter.
Yet she has no problem enjoying all of the benefits of capitalism while condemning it in word but not deed. However, those of us on the side of civilization and reason owe people like Klein a debt of gratitude for their honesty.
Naomi Klein is open about what environmentalists deny or refuse to admit and the greens probably cringe every time she opens her pathetic mouth.

Ms. Klein isn’t the first to communicate the Left’s blunt honesty about climate change.
