Grocery stores want to let customers shop while drinking beer or wine

Grocery stores want to let customers shop while drinking beer or wine | MLive.com
An expanding southeast Michigan grocery chain is looking to start a new concept in its stores by turning to by-the-glass beer and wine sales so that customers can drink during a shopping trip.
Busch's Fresh Food Market is seeking a Class C liquor license for the store it plans to open in Canton Township, west of Detroit.
That store would mark Busch's first foray into setting up an in-store 'bistro' with beer and wine sales for customers.
"It will allow guests to walk through the store and let them drink alcohol while they're shopping," said John Hunter, director of marketing for the Ann Arbor-based, 15-store chain.
...Grocery stores across the US have added by-the-glass beer and wine over the past several years. While the national pace hasn't been rapid, more stores in Michigan appear to be turning to on-premise liquor licenses..."

HILLARY CLINTON WAS A NATIONAL SECURITY DISASTER AS SECRETARY OF STATE: That seems to be the emerging consensus among military intelligence experts willing to go on the record about the damage done to national security by Clinton’s use of an unsecured home-brew email server to do official business. Calling for Clinton to “step down” from the presidential race is Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn (Ret.), who was President Obama’s head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s Richard Pollock:

“Flynn and other high-ranking former intelligence officials told TheDCNF they are alarmed that some of the nation’s most highly classified documents contained in a secretive program called the Special Access Program (SAP) were transferred to Clinton’s unclassified home server.

“The documents ‘had to be moved off electronically or removed out of the secure site physically, then it had to be put onto an unclassified email system,’ Flynn said. ‘Someone who does this is completely irresponsible, but totally unaccountable and shows a streak of arrogance to the American public that is unworthy of anyone thinking they can run for President of the United States.’

“’This is unbelievable,’ Flynn said. ‘I don’t think anybody should be talking about her being potentially the next President of the United States.’”

Suicide-Bomber Girls Kill 58 in Nigerian Refugee Camp

Suicide-Bomber Girls Kill 58 in Nigerian Refugee Camp - The New York Times
MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — When three girls showed up Monday at a camp for people who had fled the militant group Boko Haram, they were welcomed and offered a place to sleep.
But early Tuesday morning, as the first light spread across the sprawling camp, two of the girls blew themselves up with bombs they had been concealing, killing 58 people and wounding 78.
The victims were among the more than 50,000 people who had been forced from their homes by Boko Haram’s rampages, only to be confronted with the same horror in the very place they had sought refuge.
The episode at the Dikwa camp for displaced persons follows a pattern of murderous attacks that Boko Haram has carried out since the Nigerian military began rooting the militants from strongholds across the northern part of the country.

TRAITOR: Look What Country Hillary Was Just Caught Personally Raising Money In:

"We’ve always known Democrat presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is tied to foreign money, and now we’ve learned her campaign is expanding its offshore operation by holding fundraisers in absolutely insane places.

The Hill reported Clinton’s campaign was holding fundraisers in Mexico just one day after she suffered a significant loss to rival Sen. Bernie Sanders in the New Hampshire primary. Looks like she might be grasping for the proverbial straw at this point."

5 OF THE 8 ARE DONE - THE LAST 3 ARE ALMOST THERE???

From the web:
According to Rules for Radicals, Saul D. Alinsky, there are 8 levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a socialist/communist State.  Obama has "fundamentally changed America". The first is the most important.

5 OF THE 8 ARE DONE - THE LAST 3 ARE ALMOST THERE???
1.  Healthcare:  "Control Healthcare and you control the People.”  DONE!!!
2.  Poverty:  “Increase the Poverty level as high as possible."  Poor People are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.  DONE!!!
3.  Debt:  “Increase the National Debt to an unsustainable level."  That way you are able to increase Taxes, and this will produce more Poverty.  DONE!!!
4.  Gun Control:  “Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government."  That way you are able to create a Police State - total local control.  ALMOST THERE!!!
5.  Welfare:  “Take control of every aspect of their lives" (Food, Livestock, Housing, and Income).  DONE!!!
6.  Education:  “Take control of what People read & listen to take control of what Children learn in School.”  ALMOST THERE!!!
7.  Religion “Remove faith in God from the Government and School.”  ALMOST THERE!!!
8.  Class Warfare:  “Divide the People into the Wealthy against the Poor.  Racially divide."  This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to Tax the Wealthy with full support of the voting Poor.  DONE!!!
The bases are all covered!  We are ripe for the New World Order.
Forward this or delete it and just sit there and wring our hands wondering what to do.

Harvard med students demand diversity, but no more Asians please
Harvard Medical School (HMS) students styling themselves the “Racial Justice Coalition” are demanding that their next Dean be “committed to social justice both inside and outside our community.”
Several dozen medical and dental students, decked out in white lab coats, marched across campus last week to call attention to the cause, according to The Harvard Crimson, ending the procession at Massachusetts Hall, where they planned to present a petition to University President Drew Faust that they claimed boasts more than 300 signatures.
"...the person who leads the Med School ought to be a person with a deep commitment to diversity..."    Tweet This
...“I think that the point that the person who leads the Med School ought to be a person with a deep commitment to diversity is absolutely right,” she explained. “We want the person who is going to see this as really an essential part of being an excellent dean.”

City bans workers from mentioning ‘Founding Fathers’ on Presidents’ Day

City bans workers from mentioning ‘Founding Fathers’ on Presidents’ Day | The American Mirror:

The City of San Diego is reworking its manual for employee communications after a section on “Bias-Free Language” sparked public ridicule because it instructed staff not to mention the country’s “Founding Fathers.”
foundingfathersThe Pacific Justice Institute issued a letter to Dan Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer Monday calling for the city to rescind recent guidelines restricting employee speech it considers gender biased. Examples in the document include words and phrases like “the common man,” “manmade,” “man up” and numerous others.
“As one example, the guidelines note that ‘founding fathers’ is also problematic and should be replaced with ‘founders,’” according to a PJI statement. “The city further urges employees preparing official reports to disregard or paraphrase research that contains such biased language.”...

Fusion Centers: Expensive, Practically Useless, and Bad for Your Liberty

Fusion Centers: Expensive, Practically Useless, and Bad for Your Liberty - Hit & Run : Reason.com
The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs has just released a report [pdf] on the "fusion centers" that pepper the law-enforcement landscape -- shadowy intelligence-sharing shops run on the state and local level but heavily funded by the federal Department of Homeland Security.
It is a devastating document.
When a report's recommendations include a plea for the DHS to "track how much money it gives to each fusion center," you know you're dealing with a system that has some very basic problems.
After reviewing 13 months' worth of the fusion centers' output, Senate investigators concluded that the centers' reports were "oftentimes shoddy, rarely timely, sometimes endangering citizens' civil liberties and Privacy Act protections, occasionally taken from already-published public sources, and more often than not unrelated to terrorism."
One report offered the vital intelligence that "a certain model of automobile had folding rear seats that provided access to the trunk without leaving the car," a feature deemed notable because it "could be useful to human traffickers."
Others highlighted illegal activities by people in the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE) database, which sounds useful until you hear just what those people did that attracted the centers' attention.
One man was caught speeding.
Another shoplifted some shoes. TIDE itself, according to the Senate report, is filled not just with suspected terrorists but with their "associates," a term broad enough to rope in a two-year-old boy.
Nearly a third of the reports were not even circulated after they were written, sometimes because they contained no useful information, sometimes because they "overstepped legal boundaries" in disturbing ways:

  • "Reporting on First Amendment-protected activities lacking a nexus to violence or criminality;
  • reporting on or improperly characterizing political, religious or ideological speech that is not explicitly violent or criminal;
  • and attributing to an entire group the violent or criminal acts of one or a limited number of the group's members."

(One analyst, for example, felt the need to note that a Muslim community group's list of recommended readings included four items whose authors were in the TIDE database.)
Interestingly, while the DHS usually refused to publish these problematic reports, the department also retained them for an "apparantly indefinite" period..."

The post-WWII "German Miracle"

Ivan Pongracic - The post-WWII "German Miracle", where (West)...:
"The post-WWII "German Miracle", where (West) Germany rebuilt its economy in record time after the utter destruction of the war is a highly instructive case of what works and what doesn't in economics. (Post-WWII Great Britain, which followed a socialist path, is a classic example of what doesn't.) Here's a fascinating passage by one of the architects of the German miracle, the great German free market economist Wilhelm Ropke (also friend of Ludwig von Mises and Friedrich Hayek). (H/T: Darrin Moore)"

"In 1948, "Germany lay prostrate, ravaged by war, impoverished by ten years of repressed inflation, mutilated, demoralized by defeat in an unjustified war and by the exposure of a hateful tyranny, and teeming with refugees . . ."
The Germans in the summer of '48 discarded the concept of a government-run economy and instead unleashed the free market economy and thereby spawned the all-but-forgotten 'German Miracle'.
"This was the beginning of an impressive chapter in economic history when in the span of a few years we witnessed a nation's precipitous fall and its rebirth and the almost total collapse and subsequent swift recovery of its economy.
The world was treated to a unique and instructive example of the paralysis and anarchy which can afflict an economy when utterly mistaken economic policies destroy the foundation of economic order and how quickly and thoroughly it can recover from its fall and start on the steep, upward climb if only economic policy recognizes its error and reverses its course. . . of all countries, it was precisely this one which had the courage to swim against the tide of collectivist and inflationary policies in Europe and set up its own―and contrary―program of free markets and monetary discipline, much to the dismay of the young economists of the Occupation Powers, who had been reared on the doctrines of Marx and Keynes and their disciples.
Not only was the success overwhelming, but it also happened to coincide with the patent failure of socialism in Great Britain (which had replaced the hopelessly discredited Soviet Union as the promised land of the socialists).
It began to look as if the country that had lost the war were better off than the winners.(8)
This was an outrage because it meant the end of the socialist myth.
What made it still harder to swallow was that the defeated Germany should be the one to set this example of prosperity through freedom, for there were few who grasped that this was a not unworthy manner of making good some of the evil that this same country had brought upon the world by means of its previous, opposite example of inflationary collectivism, which had marked the beginning of National Socialism and had been lapped up eagerly by others.
But the success of the new economic course was proscribed by every single chapter of the fashionable Leftist economic doctrine.
This success simply could not be tolerated, and thus false theories combined with wishful thinking to produce those repeated prophecies of doom which accompanied German economic policy from one triumph to the next.
When the false prophets, along with all their various disproved predictions, finally fell into ridicule, they took refuge in the tactics of either remaining as silent as possible on the success of the German market economy or obscuring it with all kinds of statistical juggling and gross misrepresentation of facts."

Ivan Pongracic I should mention that there is an amazing chapter on this whole episode (as well as one on the failure of post-war British socialism) in my good friend Larry White's remarkable book "The Clash of Economic Ideas: The Great Policy Debates and Experiments of the Last Hundred Years" - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! http://www.amazon.com/The-Clash-Economic.../dp/1107012422

Benghazi committee Dems gave thousands in bonuses while blasting probe's cost | Fox News
Democrats on the House committee probing the 2012 Benghazi terror attacks awarded tens of thousands of dollars in bonuses to their staff, while at the same time repeatedly attacking Republicans over the rising cost of the investigation.
According to publicly available reports, a total of $33,600 was given to six Democratic staffers at the end of 2014 and 2015.
While the bonuses make up only a fraction of the panel's total expenses to date, critics suggested they undermine the minority members' complaints about the budget.
"This is the height of hypocrisy,” Lisa Boothe, a Republican strategist and president of High Noon Strategies, told FoxNews.com..."

STUDY: Federal student loans to blame for skyrocketing college tuition

STUDY: Federal student loans to blame for skyrocketing college tuition | EAGnews.org:
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The latest research in the never-ending debate about skyrocketing college tuition costs suggests federal student loans could be the underlying problem.
“Student aid accounts for most of the tuition increases between 1987 and 2010, according to a working paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research,” Inside Higher Ed reports.
“The more money students can borrow, the idea goes, the more colleges can charge.”
The study, conducted by professors at Indiana University and the University of Missouri, points to the increased availability of subsidized and unsubsidized loan programs that don’t offset tuition increases.
Colleges charge more, because financial aid bridges the gap, according to the news site.
“You’ve got to somehow tie aid to lowered tuition if you want to give money to students,” Grey Gordon, co-author of the working paper told Inside Higher Ed.
“You have to somehow structure it so college can’t just increase tuition and capture that money.”
Gordon’s research backs what some call the “Bennett Hypothesis,” named after former Secretary of Education William Bennett, who wrote in a 1987 New York Times editorial that “increases in financial aid in recent years have enabled colleges and universities blithely to raise their tuitions,” the American Enterprise Institute reports..."
