The Incredible Trump Agenda – What Most Americans Don’t Know About the War the President Has Waged | The Heritage Foundation:
"While the 2016 presidential elections were underway, policy analysts at The Heritage Foundation (my employer and one of the nation’s leading think tanks) compiled a six-volume series of conservative, research-based policy recommendations for the next president.
The recommendations were calculated to help the incoming president and Congress jumpstart the economy, strengthen national security and halt the increasing centralization of power in the federal government.
At the end of 2017, we reviewed all 334 recommendations presented in our “Mandate for Leadership” series and found that the Trump administration had embraced fully 64 percent of them. That’s nearly two out of three – and that’s very good indeed."

Trump and Trial Lawyers Target Drug Companies Over Opioid Addiction - Reason.com
Trump and Trial Lawyers Target Drug Companies Over Opioid Addiction - Reason.com:
"Making drug-company shareholders foot the bill for a public health crisis is flaky and counterproductive.
The opioid addiction issue is headed for the next stop on what is now a well-worn path: from public health crisis, to subject for award-winning and heart-tugging journalism, to payday for trial lawyers.
The lawyers are poised to do to prescription drug companies, pharmacy chains, and drug distributors what they did to tobacco companies and asbestos manufacturers—wring from them a multibillion dollar settlement, with a sizeable chunk going to the lawyers themselves.
...On March 1, federal government lawyers filed a "statement of interest of the United States of America" before Judge Dan Polster of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Judge Polster is presiding over the consolidated cases known as In Re: National Prescription Opiate Litigation.
It is so vast that just the docket listing the names of the parties and their lawyers is 222 pages long.
...The targets of the suits instead are mostly large publicly traded companies—Abbott Laboratories, CVS Health, Costco, Express Scripts, Wal-Mart—whose shareholders will wind up paying the price of any settlement.
Also as usual, there is little consideration given to the potential unintended consequences.
The same issue of The New York Times that carried the news of the government's statement of interest before Judge Polster also carried a book review lamenting the "sluggish progress" and "dry pipeline" in developing new medicine to treat mental illness..."

Childhood Opioid Overdoses Nearly Doubled In Last 10 Years | Time
"Child hospitalizations due to opioid overdoses nearly doubled between 2004 and 2015, according to a new study in the journal Pediatrics.
Attempts to curb opioid use among adults have not curtailed this troubling trend, the authors say, and more efforts are needed to reduce opioid ingestion—both intentional and accidental—in kids.
For the new study, researchers examined billing records from 49 children’s hospitals in 27 states and the District of Columbia. (why only 27 states?)
They found that between 2004 and 2015, there were a total of 3,647 opioid-related hospitalizations in 31 different hospitals. (but, but, but the study was 49 hospitals!)
The percentage of those children who died after admission decreased over that time period, from 2.8% a year to 1.3% a year. (16 total)
But in the same time frame, the total number of hospitalizations nearly doubled: from 797 in the first three years of the study to 1,504 in the last three years. (Why use the "3 year" total and not show the year to year?)
The number of hospitalizations that required admission to the pediatric intensive care unit also doubled. (doubled to what?)...
The majority of opioid-related hospitalizations were for older children ages 12 to 17, but one-third were for kids under age 6. (167/yr)
And while most children had overdosed on prescription opioids or illicit narcotics like heroin, a significant number of children under 6—about 20%—were treated for methadone overdoses.
The makes sense, the study authors wrote in their paper, since adult prescriptions for methadone, a drug used to treat other opioid addictions, increased 559% from 2000 to 2007..."

Blame cultural failures, not NRA or firearm for school shootings - Washington Times:
"The good news is that there is an effective program underway that addresses the specific security issues at individual schools.
Established in 2012, The School Shield Initiative is designed to help local communities conduct comprehensive security evaluations of schools in their neighborhoods. Every school building and campus are different in their own unique settings. School Shield provides free training in how to evaluate the infrastructure, technology, personnel and policies already in place.
Military, law enforcement and other personnel with security backgrounds are eligible to participate in the five-day training sessions that “highlight and reinforce what is being done right, and identify potential areas requiring improvement.” The curriculum has been carefully constructed by security experts, and the training is comprehensive and accredited. After an individual school is assessed, it can even apply for a grant to help pay for the improvements.
Who supplies this free training around the nation? Who provides funds directly to schools to help them beef up their security? The same people who work so hard to preserve your personal safety: The NRA and the NRA Foundation."

The Chicken Littles Are Hammering Trump on Trade, but Charles Payne's Truth Bombs Blow Their Theories to Smithereens - Scott Morefield
The Chicken Littles Are Hammering Trump on Trade, but Charles Payne's Truth Bombs Blow Their Theories to Smithereens - Scott Morefield:
"President Trump’s Thursday decision to begin the process of keeping his campaign promise to protect the American industrial base by imposing tariffs on imported steel and aluminum has seemingly gotten everyone in a tizzy, oddly uniting Big Business, top globalists, the IMF, the GOP Establishment and even liberal Democrats, all of whom never agree on anything yet are united that this particular decision will mean nothing short of an economic apocalypse for the United States.
Truly, to hear these folks tell it we’re looking at an economic scenario to rival the bleak hellscape of The Walking Dead, minus the zombies (unless you count liberals as zombies, which arguably wouldn’t be that far off).
...Liberals, too, are in agreement.
The folks at Vox think Trump “decided to put the global economy at risk because he was in a pissy mood.”
...Fox Business host Charles Payne, who says he is not a “protectionist” but wants, like most people slandered with the term, fair trade for all.
...As Payne brilliantly points out, despite the grim prognostications of those who seemingly know better, tariffs not only have worked for America in the past, but are currently working for our competitors now.
...Here are a few more truth bombs from Mr. Payne:
“But they don’t agree that a tariff is the right approach for addressing the problem,” the piece continued, because tariffs “could backfire,” or something.
Sure, it’s a nice argument, but if tariffs have worked in the past for the United States and continue to work for the rest of the world, it’s not one bolstered by history or reality..."

Obama's Scandal-Free Delusion
Obama's Scandal-Free Delusion:
"In fact, Obama was a perpetual power-abusing machine. He was so routinely high-handed and selectively contemptuous of the rule of law that people were beginning to think presidential authoritarianism was the new normal. How ironic that so many of Obama's enablers are now projecting these sins onto President Trump, who — to this point, at least - hasn't actually crossed the line into flouting the Constitution. The left believes — and acts on the belief — that the ends justify the means, and so, it naturally assumes we will do the same. Obama was hell-bent on fundamentally transforming America as founded, and he was willing to scratch, bite, kick, steal and flush the rule of law to accomplish it — and he did, like no president before him. In other words, Obama's lies were OK because lies are sometimes necessary for the greater good.
For your review, let me just give you a list of examples, many of them snatched from my two Obama books, which chronicled his two disgraceful terms. Not all technically qualify as scandals, but enough do."

Activists demand slavery reparations for black University of Chicago students - The College Fix: "University denies activist claims that it has ‘ties to slavery’
Claiming that the University of Chicago is founded on free slave labor, student groups there recently held a “teach-in” arguing that the university owes some of its black students slavery reparations.
The event continued to advance pressure on the prestigious private school to offer such restitution, lobbying that included a “Rally for Reparations” late last year, which included calls for “reparations” for African American community members in the South Side of Chicago, where the university is located.
At the late February teach-in, the groups Reparations at UChicago, the UChicago Socialists and UofC Resists, the organizers of the event, were joined by representatives from a graduate student union and a local Black Lives Matter chapter, as reported by The Chicago Maroon.
The demands cite the founding of the original University of Chicago in 1856 on land donated by Stephen Douglas, who purchased the property using profits from his Mississippi slave plantation.
But University of Chicago leaders insist the institution is a functionally different entity from the original university..."

Rhode Island Bill Would Impose Fee For Accessing Online Porn - Slashdot
"If a recently introduced bill passes the General Assembly this session, Rhode Island residents will have to pay a $20 fee to access sexually explicit content online.
The bill, introduced by Sen. Frank Ciccone (D-Providence) and Sen. Hanna Gallo (D-Cranston), would require internet providers to digitally block "sexual content and patently offensive material."
Consumers could then deactivate that block for a fee of $20.
The Providence Journal reports:
Each quarter the internet providers would give the money made from the deactivation fees to the state's general treasurer, who would forward the money to the attorney general to fund the operations of the Council on Human Trafficking, according to the bill's language. If online distributors of sexual content do not comply with the filter, the attorney general or a consumer could file a civil suit of up to $500 for each piece of content reported, but not blocked, according to the bill.

- The New York Times reported Sunday on the increasing problem of immigrant gangs in Sweden
- TheNYT criticized President Donald Trump for commenting on the problem over a year ago
- TheNYT took great pains not to mention where the violence was coming from
The New York Times published a report Sunday on Sweden’s growing problem with immigrant gangs — more than a year after the paper chided President Donald Trump for calling attention to the same worrisome development.
...one of more than 100 incidents involving military-grade explosives in the Stockholm metro area that police have attributed to an “arms race” among immigrant gangs, reports TheNYT.
There were only a few such incidents in Sweden until 2014, but since then, the number of explosions and seizures of grenades has shot up and remained worryingly high.
...Though TheNYT readily reported on the nature of the violence, it was somewhat more circumspect about its origin.
Nowhere in the story do the words “Muslim” or “refugee” appear. The only mention of the word “asylum” is to describe a witness to the explosion.."

The Politicization of the FBI - Imprimis
The Politicization of the FBI - Imprimis:
"Over the past year, facts have emerged that suggest there was a plot by high-ranking FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) officials in the Obama administration, acting under color of law, to exonerate Hillary Clinton of federal crimes and then, if she lost the election, to frame Donald Trump and his campaign for colluding with Russia to steal the presidency.
This conduct was not based on mere bias, as has been widely claimed, but rather on deeply felt animus toward Trump and his agenda.
In the course of this plot, FBI Director James Comey, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, FBI Deputy Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok, Strzok’s paramour and FBI lawyer Lisa Page, FBI General Counsel James Baker, and DOJ senior official Bruce Ohr—perhaps among others—compromised federal law enforcement to such an extent that the American public is losing trust.
A recent CBS News poll finds 48 percent of Americans believe that Special Counsel James Mueller’s Trump-Russia collusion probe is “politically motivated,” a stunning conclusion.
And 63 percent of polled voters in a Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll believe that the FBI withheld vital information from Congress about the Clinton and Russia collusion investigations.
I spent my early legal career as a federal prosecutor.
I later supervised hundreds of prosecutors and prosecutions as a U.S. Attorney and as an Independent Counsel.
I have never witnessed investigations so fraught with failure to fulfill the basic elements of a criminal probe as those conducted under James Comey.
Not since former Acting FBI Director L. Patrick Gray deep-sixed evidence during Watergate has the head of the FBI been so discredited as Comey is now..."

Parkland Shooting: Did Obama-Era School Discipline Policies Enable It? | National Review:
"Broward County had adopted guidelines designed in part to limit law-enforcement involvement with students, even those who posed a threat.
The closer you look at the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., the more you realize that it might have been one of the most preventable significant crimes in recent American history. We’re familiar by now with the government’s sins of omission — how it failed to act time and again in the face of evidence that the shooter presented a clear and present danger to the public.
But how about a sin of commission? Did an Obama-era policy designed to reduce the “school-to-prison pipeline” prevent police from using available tools that could have stopped the shooting?"

It’s not that they were sure they had the better choice.
It was that they were completely convinced that there were no circumstances where Trump could become President.
They were so sure, in fact, that they had all of official Washington convinced of this as well.
A month before the election there was no one in either party talking about a Trump victory.
In fact, the topic of debate was the size and scope of the Clinton victory.
...Of course, in a world where the scrupulous following of protocol is essential to maintaining the status quo, a break down in the rules puts everyone at risk.
That seems to be Trump’s game here with the spying charges.
The establishment has tossed out the rules in their effort to attack him, so he is threatening to further bust up the system, which works to his favor and to their disadvantage. it’s a foolish game the Left has decided to play as they have much more to lose in a world without rules.
...That’s probably why he went nuclear over the weekend.
He’s looking around at a city full of crooked politicians calling for investigations so he is turning the table and threatening to open the investigation up to everything.
Imagine Trump coming out and asking for a special prosecutor to look into Obama, Clinton, the IRS people, the DOJ and maybe even the FBI itself.
There’s a lot of people in Washington with a lot to hide and Trump certainly knows it, which is why he is going on the attack over the tapping of his offices.
A long time ago I pointed out that Trump was The Mule, the character from the Asimov novels. Trump is the destroyer of worlds, not because he has some grand vision of the future and wants to plow under the existing order to make room for his utopia.
He is the destroyer because the old order can only exist if Trump does not exist.
His rise to the White House is the nullification of the established order.
It’s why Washington is going for total war to destroy him.
They see it is a matter of survival.
It’s probably too late.
The Mule has arrived."
