Tax sugary drinks to fight obesity, WHO urges governments

Tax sugary drinks to fight obesity, WHO urges governments:
"GENEVA (Reuters) - Governments should tax sugary drinks to fight the global epidemics of obesity and diabetes, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday, recommendations industry swiftly branded "discriminatory" and "unproven".
A 20 percent price increase could reduce consumption of sweet drinks by the same proportion, the WHO said in "Fiscal Policies for Diet and Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases", a report issued on World Obesity Day.
..."We are now in a place where we can say there is enough evidence to move on this and we encourage countries to implement effective tax on sugar-sweetened beverages to prevent obesity," Temo Waqanivalu, of WHO's department of Noncommunicable Diseases and Health Promotion, told a briefing.
...The WHO said there was increasing evidence that taxes and subsidies influence purchasing behavior and could be used to curb consumption of sweet drinks..."

Emails raise further questions over possible Clinton pay-to-play tactics | TheBlaze.com:

"Newly released emails show Hillary Clinton’s State Department and her family’s Clinton Foundation seemingly coordinated with so-called “friends” of former President Bill Clinton following the 2010 earthquake that rocked Haiti.

The emails are the latest in the ongoing saga over whether the State Department may have been involved in any pay-to-play actions while Clinton was heading the agency from 2009-2013. The messages were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act"

British Home Office Trying to Censor Report Accusing Government of Allowing "Muslim-Only Zones"

British Home Office Trying to Censor Report Accusing Government of Allowing "Muslim-Only Zones" :: The Investigative Project on Terrorism:
"According to the Sunday Times of London, the British Home Office is attempting to censor a new report that accuses the government of failing to integrate immigrants and tackle counter extremism, "by allowing some areas to operate as if they were Muslim-only zones."
Image result for muslim only zones in americaAuthored by Dame Louise Casey, the government's integration tsar appointed by David Cameron, the report's release has been delayed for months after Home Office officials intervened because of its findings.
...The report also describes how the government allows certain Muslim-dominated regions to operate independently, where state schools shut down for Islamic prayers on Friday.
Heavy criticism is also levied at the government for failing to defend the UK's counter extremism program (Prevent) with the consequence of allowing Islamists to freely label the program as an attack targeting all Muslims.
...Moreover, the report allegedly counters Islamists' assertions that right wing extremism is as much of an issue in Britain as radical Islamism.
In the past 15 years, Islamists were responsible for almost all terrorist plots in the country..."

CSU students call police over 'racist' ghost decoration

CSU students call police over 'racist' ghost decoration:

"A local Fort Collins resident was asked to take down a Halloween display after some Colorado State University students called it offensive and racist, saying it resembled a black person hanging from a noose.
A photo of the Halloween display obtained by KUSA shows a ghost with a black wig dangling from the rafters of a house nearby CSU’s campus, looking similar to the main character in the popular horror film The Ring.
“It hurt to see it and it made us like upset and it was just something we didn’t want to happen.”
Nonetheless, some students found the display to be racist, interpreting the Halloween decoration as a black woman being hanged.
“It almost, I got like a horrible feeling in my stomach that someone would put a hanging black woman across the street from our campus,” student Sunnique Cortez told 12 News.
“I thought about what message that was sending to black families to come up here with their black child....”

"Hillary Clinton said in 2015 speech to a major Canadian bank that the North American future that she imagines is one with a “much more open border,” according to excerpts of her private speeches released by Wikileaks.
“The North American future that I imagine is one that would give us energy connectivity, give us a much more open border where goods and services more easily flowed, would give us the chance to put our heads together about what else we can do together, bringing Mexico in to continue the work we have started on health care like early warning systems for epidemic diseases,” Clinton said to the the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in a January 2015 speech. CIBC paid Clinton for the $150,000 speech.
Another excerpt from a Clinton private speech to a bank had Clinton expressing support for open borders. “My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders, some time in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it, powering growth and opportunity for every person in the hemisphere,” Hillary said in a May 2013 speech at to Brazilian Banco Itau.
Her spokesman Brian Fallon told The Daily Caller Sunday night, “[Hillary] does not support an open borders immigration policy.”
Fallon pointed instead to her support for “comprehensive immigration reform.”"

Public University President Rejects Zero Tolerance Policy for 'Offensive' Speech - Breitbart:

"President Mark Kennedy of the University of North Dakota has taken a stand for free expression at the public institution after he rejected calls for a “zero tolerance policy” on offensive speech.

Joy Behar just called Bill Clinton’s sexual assault victims ‘TRAMPS’ on ‘The View’

Joy Behar just called Bill Clinton’s sexual assault victims ‘TRAMPS’ on ‘The View’ | BizPac Review
Women who have accused former President Bill Clinton of sexual assault and misconduct are “tramps” according to Joy Behar.
The co-host of “The View” made her astounding statement in a discussion Monday about Donald Trump’s decision to bring Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones to the presidential debate on Sunday.
Behar thought Hillary Clinton, whom co-host Whoopi Goldberg said was the real victim in the rape and sexual assault cases, should have said “I would like to apologize to those tramps who have slept with my husband.”
And while Trump’s comments, revealed last week, about having sex with women was seen as “horrific” by liberals, the audience reacted to Behar’s insult with laughter.
One of former President Clinton’s alleged rape victims, Juanita Broaddrick, did not take the remark lightly and took to Twitter to respond.
As those on the left continue to cry foul in the imaginary war on women, Behar’s statement, made on a show whose main audience is women, was even more telling.

HIDDEN CAMERA: NYC Democratic Election Commissioner, “They Bus People Around to Vote”

HIDDEN CAMERA: NYC Democratic Election Commissioner, “They Bus People Around to Vote” | Project Veritas:
"In a video released by Project Veritas, James O’Keefe exposes what everyone except Democrats have known to be true.
There is a lot of voter fraud.
In the video, NYC Democratic Commissioner of the Board of Elections Alan Schulkin is caught on hidden camera at a United Federation of Teachers holiday party admitting that there is widespread voter fraud in New York City.
“Yeah, they should ask for your ID.
I think there is a lot of voter fraud,” said Schulkin, who elaborated on the types of voter fraud that are taking place in New York.
Voter fraud has been labeled as a right-wing myth by the left, but Schulkin, a Democrat, confirmed everyone’s worst fears, going against the grain of his own party.
“You know, I don’t think it’s too much to ask somebody to show some kind of an ID…Like I say, people don’t realize, certain neighborhoods in particular they bus people around to vote,” said Schulkin.
When asked about which type of neighborhoods the busing of voters takes place in, Schulkin confirmed that it was minority neighborhoods, adding, “they get busses and they move people around.”
Schulkin expressed concern over voter fraud and suggested that Mayor Bill de Blasio was to blame for a lot of the voter fraud taking place in New York City.
“He gave out ID cards.
De Blasio.
That’s in lieu of a driver’s license, but you can use it for anything.
But, they didn’t vet people to see who they really are.
Anybody can go in there and say I am Joe Smith, I want an ID card.
It’s absurd.
There’s a lot of fraud.
Not just voter fraud, all kinds of fraud...”

Leaked emails show what Clinton said in public — and in private | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"Behind closed doors, Hillary Clinton adopted a rather more accommodating tone with Wall Street than she has on the campaign trail.

In private paid speeches to financial firms and interest groups, the Democratic presidential nominee comes off as a knowing insider, willing to cut backroom deals, embrace open trade and grant Wall Street a central role in crafting financial regulations, according to excerpts obtained last week through hacked campaign emails provided to WikiLeaks."

Nearly 7 in 10 Americans have less than $1,000 in savings

Nearly 7 in 10 Americans have less than $1,000 in savings:
"The U.S. is often referred to as the land of economic opportunity.
Apparently, it's also the land of consumption and "spend everything you've got."
We don't have to look far for confirmation that Americans are generally poor savers.
Every month the St. Louis Federal Reserve releases data on personal household savings rates.
In July 2016, the personal savings rate was just 5.7%.
Comparatively, personal savings rates in the U.S. 50 years ago were double where they are today, and nearly all developed countries have a higher personal savings rate than the United States.
...new data emerged this week from personal-finance news website GoBankingRates that shows just how dire Americans' savings habits really are.
...Last month GoBankingRates again posed the question to Americans of how much they had in their savings account, only this time it asked 7,052 people.
The result?
Nearly seven in 10 Americans (69%) had less than $1,000 in their savings account.
Breaking the survey data down a bit further, we find that 34% of Americans don't have a dime in their savings account, while another 35% have less than $1,000...

Hurricane Hillary's Path Of Destruction - Look What These Former FBI Agents Just Disclosed:

"When the history of the 2016 election campaign is being written, one man is going to have a lot to answer for.

That man is FBI Director James Comey. With his reputation for straight-shooting non-partisanship, all-business demeanor and choir boy good looks, Comey has done more to salvage Hillary Clinton’s possible return to the White House than any man in American politics, including former President Clinton and President Barack Obama.

And former FBI supervisors, speaking on the record, are going public to make the case that the FBI director has squandered his reputation and sullied the bureau itself…and needs to go."
