2018: What could go right?

2018: What could go right?:
"Here’s to a 2018 where markets are rising, terror is falling, spaceships are flying, Korea is quiet and sanity returns.
Image result for this could happenHey, it could happen!
In my last column, I speculated about things that might go wrong in 2018, ranging from a hacker-inspired collapse of the power grid to a bitcoin depression.
I hope I’m wrong about all of it.
But in keeping with the optimistic spirit of the New Year, here are some things that might go right in 2018.
Let’s hope that I’m not wrong about these.
"...A terror rollback: One of the world’s great funding sources for fundamentalist Islam and terror support in general is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In recent months, the Kingdom has gone through dramatic changes that suggest a liberalization and an at least partial retreat from fundamentalism..."

The one potential Census question that terrifies liberals

The one potential Census question that terrifies liberals
"Liberals, in general, love the Census.
See the source image
It's full of questions about race and sex, the common fault lines by which liberals love to divide society.
They are even adding a question to the next Census to find out your favorite kind of sex, or approximation of it.
But one question liberals don't want to know is whether the person answering the census is an American.
They fear that if there is a question about citizenship, that illegal aliens won't fill it out.
The Justice Department is pushing for a question on citizenship to be added to the 2020 census, a move that observers say could depress participation by immigrants who fear that the government could use the information against them.  That, in turn, could have potentially large ripple effects for everything the once-a-decade census determines – from how congressional seats are distributed around the country to where hundreds of billions of federal dollars are spent.
Observers said they feared [that] adding a citizenship question would not only lower response rates, but also make the census more expensive ...
Oh, no!  Liberals, those deficit hawks, are concerned about the cost...of a question...on a form...already filled with questions!
What will that do to the national debt?

Daily Inter Lake - Frank Miele: Editor's 2 Cents, COLUMN: A finger in the dike holding back the fake news
"I took a rare shift as news editor last Saturday, which gave me an unexpected chance to put my finger in the dike holding back the flood of fake news caused by those afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Image result for liberal mediaAs I was sifting through the Associated Press news report looking for wire stories worth putting into the Sunday paper, one story on the news digest caught my attention right away: “President Donald Trump reacts to reports about the retirement of FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe by retweeting falsehoods about McCabe’s wife.”
“Oh no,” I thought. “What has Trump done now?”
Because even though I am a Trump supporter, I’ve learned that Twitter can be a cause of trouble in the Trump administration as well as a frequent force for good.
But when I looked up the story, I discovered that my worries were unfounded.
So, unfortunately, was the story.
When I read AP reporter Darlene Superville’s story, it was immediately obvious that she had either misunderstood Trump’s tweet or intentionally lied about it.
She also plainly didn’t know the meaning of the verb “retweet,” since Trump had tweeted an original statement, not a quoted one.
Getting to the truth will take a bit of context, so here goes:..."

Record cold weather caused by...you guessed it...global warming!
"Something that never interferes with the climate change indoctrinators is facts.
Since we are getting record cold, that is also caused by climate change and global warming, and that is caused by humans, according to these so-called "experts."
From an article that made its way to USA Today:
This week's cold snap has brought record-low temperatures, freezing rain and heavy snow to much of the United States.  But 2017 is still on track to be the second- or third-hottest year ever recorded globally – and scientists say climate change is to blame[.] ...
Even this week's cold weather is probably being caused at least in part by global warming, said Jonathan Overpeck, a climate scientist at the University of Michigan.
These experts just make things up as they go.
Did any of them predict this?
I don't believe so, therefore they just change their predictions.
The computer models haven't predicted any climate or weather events with accuracy, so they just adjust the data...."

Anniversary of B-24 Liberator bomber first flight during World War II - Business Insider

Despite its capabilities and performance, the B-24 was already technologically obsolete by the end of the war. The Army had started testing its "superbomber," the B-29 Superfortress, in summer 1943. The B-29 had a better range and could carry a bigger payload than the B-24, and its pressurized cabin let it fly at higher altitudes. On August 6, 1945, a B-29 dropped the "Little Boy" atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Three days later, another B-29 dropped the "Fat Man" atomic bomb on Nagasaki. Japan surrendered on September 2.Anniversary of B-24 Liberator bomber first flight during World War II - Business Insider
"78 years ago, the B-24 Liberator took its first flight — here's how it helped bring down the Nazis...
...To compare a Ford V8 with a four-engine Liberator bomber was like matching a garage with a skyscraper," Sorensen wrote.
But he formulated a plan to build B-24s that won over Edsel Ford:
Make them on an assembly line housed in the largest factory in the world, a mile long and a quarter-mile wide, churning out one heavy bomber an hour.
The plan would lead to the construction of the massive Willow Run plant near Ypsilanti..."
