Union lockout could disrupt projects throughout Southeast Michigan

Union lockout could disrupt projects throughout Southeast Michigan
"More than 40 road construction companies plan to lock out hundreds of workers who operate heavy equipment on Tuesday as a summer-long labor dispute comes to a boil and could disrupt road projects throughout Southeast Michigan.
See the source imageContractors in the Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association have voted to implement a "defensive lockout" of members of Operating Engineers Local 324 after the union has "refused" to negotiate a new contract, said Mike Nystrom, executive vice president of the road-builders trade group.
"The only reason for this lockout is to bring the Operating Engineers to the table and come to a resolution on a fair and equitable contract," Nystrom told Crain's.
"And the only way this lockout ends is with the Operating Engineers ratifying a industry-proposed contract."
The Operating Engineers Local 324 said major road construction projects on Interstate 75, I-96 and I-696 could be affected by its members being locked out.
...MITA's members offered the Operating Engineers workers pay increases of $2 per hour each year in the first three years of a new five-year contract, and $1 per hour raises in the fourth and fifth years. The base wage for unionize heavy equipment operators is $27.97 per hour; fringe benefits amount to another $27.70 in hourly compensation.
"We added 2.7 percent per year — and they won't even meet," Nystrom said.
"I think there's a lot of folks out there that think that's a pretty good deal."...

Single-Payer Health Care: The More Coloradans Knew, the Less They Liked It:

Image result for free clip art Health Care ImagesIn January, just 50 percent of voters said they intended to oppose the measure. By November, 79 percent of voters opposed it—and rejected it at the ballot box.
The more voters learned about the plan, the less they liked it.
The ColoradoCare campaign sought to deflect criticism by providing few details about the plan. It wrote the proposed amendment in the vaguest possible language. Fortunately, it still had to provide some specifics outlining the plan’s legal structure—and when it did, support plummeted.

Clarice Feldman--Two Funerals and a Missing Cardinal

Two Funerals and a Missing Cardinal
"The Mueller investigation continues without hitting paydirt and further diminishing the reputation of the special counsel and Clintonite team.

  • I expect the president to shortly (maybe even this week) declassify the FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) warrant on Carter Page.

This warrant provided the means to spy on the president and his campaign.
We learned this week that the warrant, which triggered this partisan witch hunt, was signed by the FISC (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court) without any hearing whatsoever.
We already know that it was based on lies scrounged up by a Hillary Clinton-paid former newsman and passed on by corruptocrats in the FBI, CIA, and Department of Justice...

  • The Maverick's five-day funeral rites were reportedly planned in every detail by the departed and reflected his bitter, vindictive streak.

In particular, he disinvited Sarah Palin, his running mate in his unsuccessful run for the presidency, and the family made this gesture public.
To my mind, without her, his campaign would have been an even bigger failure.

  • And then there's the missing cardinal to make the crazy week even weirder.

Pope Francis was under attack for failing to act on countless documented cases of sex abuse within the Catholic Church.
The Vatican's ex-ambassador to Washington, Archbishop Carlo Viganò, fired the first salvo, detailing the misconduct of Archbishop Theodore McCarrick and Cardinal Donald Wuerl and calling on the pope to resign.
Ricochet had the best wrap-up of the crisis in the church and the Lavender Mafia flourishing under Pope Francis....
...There are calls for Cardinal Wuerl to resign and he appears to have gone missing, with rumors that he was spirited out of the country to avoid prosecution.
Certainly all this turmoil in our justice system and the Church is unsettling.
But it's a useful reminder that in all hierarchies, sooner or later, the mission of the organization becomes the protection of the hierarchy, not the stated mission, and every now and then, a thorough housecleaning is in order..."

Iranian rial hits record low at 128,000 to the dollar- ...:
"The Iranian rial hit a record low against the U.S. dollar on the unofficial market on Monday amid a deterioration in the economic situation and the reimposition of sanctions by the United States.
See the source image
...The currency has been volatile for months because of a weak economy, financial difficulties at local banks and heavy demand for dollars among Iranians who fear the pullout of Washington from a landmark 2015 nuclear deal and renewed U.S. sanctions could shrink Iran's exports of oil and other goods.
A set of U.S. sanctions targeting Iran's oil industry is due to take effect in November.
Last week, Iran's parliament sacked the minister of economic affairs and finance, the latest in a continuing shakeup of top economic personnel.
In early August Iranian lawmakers voted out the minister of labour and in July President Hassan Rouhani replaced the head of the central bank.
Protests linked to the tough economic situation in Iran erupted last December, spreading to more than 80 cities and towns and resulting in 25 deaths.
Sporadic protests, led by truck drivers, farmers and merchants in Tehran's bazaar, have continued since then and have occasionally resulted in violent confrontations with security forces."

Inside the shady private equity firm run by Kerry and Biden’s kids
“My frustration,” writes Peter Schweizer in his new book, “Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends,” “is not that the solid reporting on Trump has been too tough, but that the reporting on the Obama administration has been way too soft or in some cases nonexistent.”...

  • One example: the little-noticed private equity firm run by the sons of Democrats Joe Biden and John Kerry, as detailed in this exclusive first excerpt.

...But with whom their sons cut lucrative deals while the elder two were steering the ship of state is more of a surprise.
...The new firm would be populated by political loyalists and positioned to strike profitable deals overseas with foreign governments and officials with whom the US government was negotiating.
...Of the various deals in which these Rosemont entities were involved, one of the largest and most troubling concerns was Rosemont Seneca Partners.
...In short, the Chinese government was literally funding a business that it co-owned along with the sons of two of America’s most powerful decision makers..."

JUST NBC THE GASLIGHTING: Andrea Mitchell Cites Farrakhan as Evidence of ‘Inclusive Group’ at Aretha’s Funeral.
See the source imageAs her Andrea Mitchell Reports show gave live coverage of the event, at 12:06 a.m. [sic] Eastern, the MSNBC host listed several of those appearing on stage. She began: “It’s interesting to see the panoply of civil rights leaders. Of course, right there at the church, we see Reverend Al (Sharpton), we see the Reverend Jesse Jackson who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease but was so close to Aretha Franklin and is part of that legacy.”
...Mitchell: “Bill Clinton there, of course, and is going to give one of the eulogies. And also the Reverend Farrakhan — a very controversial leader from the Nation of Islam who is also there. So it’s an inclusive group.”
Mitchell never explained why Farrakhan is “very controversial.”
No doubt, Al Sharpton will address that topic when he gets back to the studio.
In the interim, regarding how “inclusive” Franklin’s mourners were, as fellow Insta-co-blogger David Bernstein tweeted on Saturday, “Imagine the establishment’s reaction if Willie Nelson had David Duke sitting in a place of honor at his funeral, with George W. Bush 2 seats away.
Now consider the lack of reaction to Aretha Franklin, Farrakahn, and Clinton.
This is why the establishment has lost credibility.”---Posted by Ed Driscoll

Must read!----Dinesh D'Souza--LBJ'S Democratic Plantation - American Greatness

LBJ'S Democratic Plantation - American Greatness

Let’s face it. Our ass is in a crack. We’re gonna have to let this nigger bill pass. —Lyndon Johnson to Sen. John Stennis, 1957
The transformation of the Democratic Party from the party of racism and segregation to the party of civil rights is, according to historian Eric Rauchway, the central political arc of the 20th century.
Rauchway is a left-wing historian, and what he means is that it is the central theme of progressive history about the twentieth century.
Yet progressive history has become conventional wisdom, and it is that conventional wisdom I challenge in this article, excerpted from my new book Death of a Nation.
The progressive narrative begins by crediting President Lyndon Johnson almost single-handedly for passing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
This focus on LBJ is critical because progressives don’t want to admit that proportionately, more Republicans in Congress voted for those laws than Democrats.
The main opposition to the civil rights movement didn’t come from the Republican Party; it came from the Democratic Party.
These inconvenient truths are skipped through a singular focus on LBJ.
Progressives know that LBJ, in his early career, was a bigot and a segregationist.
He was part of the most racist wing of the Democratic Party.
...The progressives need LBJ, just as they need FDR, if they are to have any heroes at all.
And, boy, has LBJ become a progressive cult hero!
Antifa and Black Lives Matter activists wouldn’t dream of yanking down LBJ statues..."
