Kilpatrick is pure scum!

And the news organizations that state "Kilpatrick, agreed to pay..." are liars!

The City of Detroit lost the suit.

The taxpayers of Michigan will pay it.

Just how stupid are we......?

Kilpatrick asks court to rule on secret documents "A jury ruled against the city in September, and despite vowing to appeal that decision, Kilpatrick agreed to pay $8.4 million to the plaintiffs and a third former officer who filed a separate lawsuit."

Snow days will reduce our children's "education".

But who cares about the kids, anyway....

Any guess as to the ekukatin' thak's gonna happen during the extra minutes of each school day?
Why do we allow this?

Snow days may extend school year: The state requires schools to provide 1,098 hours of instruction, but waives 30 of those hours for bad weather or such unavoidable circumstances as power outages.
Options for the district primarily are extending the length of remaining school days or adding an extra day onto the end of the year, Fazer said. He's hesitant to cut any time off of spring break because many families — and employees — already have made plans.

A 2006 Volvo is "high-end"?

Group (of nearly 20!!) wants TV makers to take back old sets

"nearly 20 people"? and this is a news item?

Group wants TV makers to take back old sets - Muskegon Chronicle - MLive.com: "As nearly 20 people marched in downtown Ann Arbor Friday - some wearing cardboard TVs over their heads while pretending to be zombies - Greg Sobczynski led them in chants.
'Take my TV back!' the Ann Arbor man yelled as many of the marchers yelled back, 'Don't let it poison me.'"

Gadgets don't help cheaters prosper -

Let's see...
1. "research" says don't worry about cheating.
2. The "brave" folks at GVSU report a decline in "dishonesty cases".
3. There is technology available to find cheaters.
4. The technology isn't "popular" with GVSU instructors.
5. "Faculty members stress academic integrety".
Everything is fine on campus as long as conservatives are kept from tenure.....

Gadgets don't help cheaters prosper - Muskegon Chronicle - MLive.com: "Yet research indicates that cheating in high school and college isn't any more common today than it was 30 years ago.
........At Grand Valley State University, the number of 'dishonesty cases' reported to administrators has steadily declined, dropping from 57 three years ago to 40 last year. ...........Faculty members stress academic integrity, she said, and also have access to an online plagiarism detection service called Turnitin.com. The international database receives and catalogs about 100,000 student papers daily and scans each one for originality. But it's not very popular among GVSU instructors. Only 32 of them currently are using it."

Human error?

Do the Clintons own The NY Post? Simple "human error" that she gets ALL the votes and no angst filled screams of disenfranchisement?

OBAMA ROBBED IN NY - New York Post: "'Some initial tallies had zeros, but it was most likely due to human error. Those were unofficial numbers, and no confirmed results have been released yet.'
In a predominantly black Brooklyn district for which Clinton was given credit for a 118-0 victory on Primary Night, the Board of Elections' latest figures indicate that she may not even come out the winner - Obama currently has 116 votes to her 118."

I'm getting a painful feeling in my wallet..... am I just another greedy conservative paranoid?

CMU Promise is dead

Interesting they would promise that someone else would pay the bills (the Michigan taxpayers!) and call it the "CMU Promise".

And now that it's "dead" the taxpayers are the fault.

Muskegon Chronicle - MLive.com: "The CMU Promise is no more.
The tuition guarantee remains in force through summer for everyone currently attending Central Michigan University.
The Board of Trustees today killed the promise for anyone enrolling for fall and later.
The promise, which CMU enacted in 2005, ensured that incoming freshmen and transfer students would pay a flat tuition rate for up to five years and the same room and board rates for two years"

Another Massacre At A "Gun Free Zone"

Can't anyone outside of the MSM and academia connect the gunshot dots?

Another Massacre At A "Gun Free Zone" College Campus KXNet.com North Dakota News: "At one time I was very against arming teachers or allowing qualified students to carry on campus. I’m not any more. These maniacs go to those schools KNOWING that their’s will be the only gun there - until police arrive. And that can take minutes."

Interesting headline from New York Times

Federal Lab Says It Can Harvest Fuel From Air!

Federal Lab Says It Can Harvest Fuel From Air (With a Catch) - : "This plan has a minor hurdle, too; the electricity for driving the chemical processes, according to a white paper describing the overarching concept, would come from nuclear power."

Democrats pour on the campaign cash

Superdelegates get campaign cash - : "elected officials serving as superdelegates have received about $890,000 from Obama and Clinton in the form of campaign contributions over the last three years,' the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics reported today."

Imagine the MSM's angst if this was GOPer cash......

The MSM said the same thing about Fidel.....

Nicaraguan leader calls Obama's campaign 'revolutionary' : "President Daniel Ortega, who led the 1979 revolution in Nicaragua, says Barack Obama's presidential bid is a 'revolutionary' phenomenon in the United States.
'It's not to say that there is already a revolution under way in the U.S. ... but yes, they are laying the foundations for a revolutionary change,' the Sandinista leader said Wednesday night as he accepted an honorary doctorate from an engineering university.
Ortega led a Soviet-backed government that battled U.S.-supported Contra rebels before he lost power in a 1990 election. He returned to office last year via the ballot box."

Doh!

Former GOP Senator Endorses Obama: "In an odd bit of timing, Chafee made the announcement the same day Republican front-runner Sen. John McCain planned his first campaign trip to Rhode Island. McCain's last visit here was to campaign and raise money for Chafee during his failed re-election bid. ......
During that race, Obama came to Rhode Island twice for Whitehouse, who has endorsed Clinton."

Washington Diarist

Washington Diarist: "The question of whether Barack Obama will make a fine commander-in chief finally depends on your view of the direction of history in the coming years. I cannot escape the foreboding that we are heading into an era of conflict, not an era of conciliation. I do not mean that there will be many wars, though I cannot imagine that the threat to American security from Al Qaeda and its many associates can be met without a massive and sustained military operation in western Pakistan, and I cannot imagine any Pakistani government ordering such an operation."

Government-Defined Patriotism

Government-Defined Patriotism: "An interview in The Nation's blog with Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH):
I've talked to Barack a lot about his Patriot Corporation Act, which is not trade per se, but it's certainly part of the economic package around globalization. The Patriot Corporation Act has not gotten the attention that I would hope it would. But, basically it says that if you play by the rules, if you pay decent wages, health benefits, pension; do your production here; don't resist unionization on neutral card check, then you will be designated a 'Patriot Corporation' and you will get tax advantages and some [preference] on government contracts.
There is so much here that's profoundly objectionable. On card check, it's 'patriotic' to support the elimination of the secret ballot in the workplace? It's 'patriotic' to pay an employee $14 an hour, but not $13.83? Play by the rules? What does that mean?"

Washington Diarist

Washington Diarist: "I cannot escape the foreboding that we are heading into an era of conflict, not an era of conciliation. I do not mean that there will be many wars, though I cannot imagine that the threat to American security from Al Qaeda and its many associates can be met without a massive and sustained military operation in western Pakistan, and I cannot imagine any Pakistani government ordering such an operation. It is not 'the politics of fear' to remind Obama's legions of the blissful that, while they are watching Scarlett Johansson sway to the beat, somewhere deep inside a quasi independent territory we might call Islamistan people are making plans to blow them to bits. (Yes, they can.)"

'Temperatures have been significantly cooler than last year, by about 2.2 degrees, but we're still warmer than normal,' Marino said."
