HealthCare Dot Commie

The American Spectator : HealthCare Dot Commie:
"It doesn’t matter if they are conceived in Moscow or inside the Beltway.
All such systems meet the same fate.
Whether imposed by well-meaning but naïve zealots or foisted on the electorate by despots who simply lust after “command” and “control,” they are always holed below the water line by the sheer incompetence of government bureaucrats."

"WASHINGTON (AP) - Almost 6 million young people are neither in school nor working, according to a study released Monday.

Thug Union bosses retaliate against teachers who left union

Union bosses retaliate against teachers who left union | The Daily Caller
Kathi Moreau, a Michigan school counselor who decided to leave her union, was surprised to see her name published in her former union’s newsletter — along with 15 other deserters.
“The fact that names were published in the newsletter confirmed the thought that some unions would throw their members under a bus at the blink of an eye,” said Moreau in a statement to Michigan Capitol Confidential. “Additionally, there was no reason for publishing our names and it is nothing less than a cheap shot for opting out.”
..And now, some unions — like Moreu’s former union, Michigan Education Association 17-B/C — seem prepared to try to intimidate members who do find a way to leave.
...“Holy cow, for all the anti-bullying efforts in our schools these days, this is shameful,” she said in a statement.

Murderous Saudi Arabia praised in UN review of its human rights record

Saudi Arabia praised in UN review of its human rights record:
"As the UN Human Rights Council scrutinized Saudi Arabia’s domestic rights record this morning, a minority of democracies such as Canada, UK, and the Czech Republic raised concerns about women’s rights, while the vast majority of African, Asian and Latin American countries lined up to defend and praise one of the world’s most repressive theocratic regimes.
(See below today’s statements praising Saudi Arabia’s human rights record.)"

It’s time to end racial profiling in college admissions

It’s time to end racial profiling in college admissions | AEIdeas:
"We’re supposed to have progressed to the point that skin color doesn’t matter.
Wasn’t that the whole point of the civil-rights movement of the 1950s and ’60s?
So why do we still allow life-altering decisions to be made on the basis of race? The time to end racial discrimination is long overdue."

Some things just never change......Detroit bus runs canceled today, DDOT blames 'sick out'

Detroit bus runs canceled today, DDOT blames 'sick out' | Detroit Free Press | freep.com:

"It's like they hired a bunch of drunken Bulgarians to design the site"

It's not just that it doesn't work, freezes up or locks your entire computer.
Simply moving around the site is like a visit to the airline reservation sites in the early 1990s.
Except this is worse.
20 years ago, if you really, really kept at it, you might be able to make your reservation online.
And if not, you could call a travel agent or the airline.
And make your reservation.
I'm not sure there's enough vodka in Bulgaria to make ANYONE drunk enough to produce the "Detroit-in-website" that Obama's minions have "built".
And $600+ million is just the starting point.

Obamacare seeks to segregate patients, doctors by race

Obamacare seeks to segregate patients, doctors by race | The Daily Caller:
"“Research suggests that health care providers’ diagnostic and treatment decisions, as well as their feelings about patients, are influenced by patients’ race or ethnicity,” the CAP report reads.
“Several studies have shown that racial concordance is substantially and positively related to patient satisfaction.”

The key phrase is “race concordance” — a word which means “a state in which things agree and do not conflict with one another.”

“There is… evidence that race concordance — defined as shared racial or ethnic identities between clinicians and patients — is related to patient reports of satisfaction, participatory decision making, timeliness of treatment, and trust in the health system,” the report reads.
In other words, fixing the broken U.S. healthcare system means assigning Hispanic doctors to Hispanic patients, African American doctors to African American patients, Creole doctors to Creole patients, and so on."

Hey, you unemployed/underemployed American kids. Thanks for subsidizing my BarryCare premiums!

Kids,
Thanks for voting for president Obama!
Your generosity is exceeded only by your sciolism and benightedness.
I think I'll pick the $16.50/mo plan.
It's quite similar to my old $290/mo plan from BCBS.
It worked for me and BCBS made a profit on my premiums.
But your $453/mo gift ("tax credit") from you younger Americans brings the cost down to about what a glass of cheap wine will cost on our Caribbean cruise next spring.
$16.50/month!
What a deal!
It sure warms the cockles of my wallet.
Thanks again!
Don't forget, vote early and often.
We'll try to remember to toast ya from the Islands!

Legal, tech delays idle half of donated DPD vehicle fleet

Legal, tech delays idle half of donated DPD vehicle fleet | Crain's Detroit Business:
"Large philanthropic efforts often come with lofty ambitions.
Or at least more ambitious delivery timetables than legal and financial realities allow.

Take an $8 million collaboration of business leaders earlier this year to equip the Detroit Police Department with 100 new police cruisers and 23 ambulances -- which were expected to enter service in a few months, a few months ago, and some of which need another three months to complete some needed refits.

About half of the donated vehicle fleet still sits parked on a Bloomfield Township lot along Telegraph Road, more than 20 miles away from Detroit police headquarters. "

"Candidates tend to do a good job listening to voters, but once they land in the Rayburn or Hart Building, they seem to forget that listening to and representing their constituents is their number one responsibility.

Navy's largest destroyer heading into the water in Maine

Navy's largest destroyer heading into the water in Maine | Fox News:
"So far, construction of the first-in-class Zumwalt, the largest U.S. Navy destroyer ever built, is on time and on budget, something that's a rarity in new defense programs, officials said.
And the Navy believes the ship's big gun, stealthy silhouette and advance features will make it a formidable package."

Behold Our Elected Hypocrite

Articles: Behold Our Elected Hypocrite:
"It is a sign of leadership failure.
It's a sign that the US Government can't pay its own bills.
It's a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies.
Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally.
Leadership means that "the buck stops here."
Instead, Washington today is shifting the burden of bad choices onto the backs of our children and grandchildren.
America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

Now, one might be inclined to think this quote might be the recent utterance of a Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, or some other extremist conservative.
But actually, these are the words of Barack Obama in 2006, criticizing the Bush administration for increasing America's debt and raising the debt limit in response."

“Get those crackers!” some of them screamed, according to court papers. “Get that white whore!”"

Sources say top CBS executives thought the report was so explosive that they made it the show’s lead story and delayed airing it for another week in order to capture tonight’s much larger NFL-viewing audience."

No Bailout for FHA

No Bailout for FHA - FreedomWorks:
"The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) is asking for a $1.7 billion bailout.
That’s almost 2 billion dollars of your tax money.
The FHA helped caused the housing market collapse.
And they advocated for TARP.
Now, they need a bailout, and Washington is preparing to bailout the same bureaucrats who caused TARP.
First it was Wall Street. Then it was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Now the FHA needs a bailout because of its failed policies. Enough is enough."

The Specter of Bankruptcy Haunts California

The Specter of Bankruptcy Haunts California - Reason.com
They saw hope for hard-pressed cities everywhere, as Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Klein set up a possible showdown over pension payments when he rejected efforts by bond insurers to stop the bankruptcy motion. Klein said he was leaving everything on the table, meaning that city employees might eventually join the bond guys in taking a haircut.
But as often happens with government-reform efforts, the pessimists turned out to be right. Earlier this month, the Stockton City Council approved a plan that restructures debt and fully funds the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, thus leaving pension benefits for city employees unscathed.
If there’s any doubt who won out, one need only read the CalPERS statement: “By continuing to fully fund its pension obligations, Stockton ... acknowledged the importance of a secure retirement to its current employees and retirees, and the positive impact that pensions have on recruitment and retention of quality public servants.”
It’s hard to believe that such lush pensions are needed to lure “quality public servants.” But whatever the case, when cities run out of money everyone should share the pain. Instead, the key “stakeholders” — city employees, union leaders, Wall Street creditors — declared a “win-win,” but the deal is not without its losers: taxpayers.
The so-called Plan of Adjustment is based on the passage of Measure A, a Nov. 5 sales-tax-increase measure that is being sold to residents as a means to assure that sufficient police officers are on the street.
If voters say “yes,” the restructuring numbers work out.
Officials elsewhere will get the message:
Just raise taxes after the spending spree hits the fan.
