"Bait and Switch" ObamaStyle----HealthCare.gov pricing useless and fraudulent.

HealthCare.gov pricing feature can be off the mark - CBS News
But CBS News has learned the new "shop and browse" feature often comes with the wrong price tags.
Wu said it's "incredibly misleading for people that are trying to get a sense of what they're paying."
Prices for everyone in the 49-or-under group are based on what a 27-year-old would pay.
In the 50-or-older group, prices are based on what a 50-year-old would pay.
CBS News ran the numbers for a 48-year-old in Charlotte, N.C., ineligible for subsidies.
According to HealthCare.gov, she would pay $231 a month, but the actual plan on Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina's website costs $360, more than 50 percent higher.
The difference: Blue Cross and Blue Shield requests your birthday before providing more accurate estimates.
The numbers for older Americans are even more striking.
A 62-year-old in Charlotte looking for the same basic plan would get a price estimate on the government website of $394. The actual price is $634.
....Industry executives CBS News spoke with could not believe the government is providing these estimates, which they said were useless and could easily mislead consumers. They also said that the website repeatedly states the actual prices could be lower, but it makes no mention that they could be higher.

Is Obamacare in a Death Spiral? - Bloomberg:
For folks who make less than 400 percent of the federal poverty line, that won’t matter much; the price of a "silver" plan (which covers about 70 percent of expected expenditures) is capped as a percentage of their income.
For those who make more than 400 percent of the poverty line (a little over $40,000 for a single person), however, that will be a big problem.

NYT: ObamaCare website only the tip of the iceberg of disaster « Hot AirThe scope of the problem is massive:
In interviews, experts said the technological problems of the site went far beyond the roadblocks to creating accounts that continue to prevent legions of users from even registering. Indeed, several said, the login problems, though vexing to consumers, may be the easiest to solve. One specialist said that as many as five million lines of software code may need to be rewritten before the Web site runs properly.
“The account creation and registration problems are masking the problems that will happen later,” said one person involved in the repair effort.

.....For Highland Park, failure to collect water payments appears to be costing the city, whose general fund is otherwise in relatively good shape."

"Some of the best stories of heroism are completely ignored by major news outlets who refuse to report on stories like this where a gun owner saves the day.
But thanks to an Arizona man who carried a concealed handgun many lives were saved last Sunday morning.
Several people were at a party in Arizona when a 27-year-old man got into an argument with some of the party goers.
Eventually the man was asked to leave.
He was gone for a short time but soon returned with a rifle and started firing shots outside the house.
The 27-year-old then started aiming his rifle at some of the guests at the party.
That’s when the 39-year-old concealed handgun carrier drew his firearm and shot the gunman."

MUSKEGON, MI – Marlon Gene Kelley, a 53-year-old Muskegon man, has been arraigned on felony gun and marijuana-growing charges after a home alarm system sent police to his house.
Kelley was arraigned Monday, Oct. 21, on charges of second-offense marijuana manufacture, firearm possession by a felon and possessing a firearm while committing a felony. He’s charged as a fourth-time habitual offender based on prior felony drug convictions.
The marijuana count is punishable by a maximum of eight years in prison, while the felon-in-possession count -- normally a maximum five-year felony – could draw a sentence of anything up to life in prison because of the fourth-time habitual charge.
....The home was unlocked, police said, so officers went inside and discovered an alleged marijuana grow operation that police said included eight marijuana plants, lights, fertilizer, an exhaust fan, four handguns and one shotgun.
