Bankrupt Illinois Proposes $100M to Fund Obama Presidential Library

Bankrupt Illinois Proposes $100M to Fund Obama Presidential Library | Truth Revolt
On Friday, an Illinois House Committee cleared a bill that would offer $100 million for the construction of the Barack Obama Presidential Library in Chicago.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel immediately labeled the proposal a brilliant one, stating, “This is the home where the president began his career in public life and also where his family calls home.”
Emanuel says that building the library would create economic development in the city.
There are six locations on the South Side of Chicago that have been targeted for the potential library home, and two universities also want the library.
......Historically, presidential libraries have been built with private funding, then kept open through public funding.
They also lose money.

Deep-Six The CPI—It Measures Excuses For Money Printing, Not The Real Cost-Of-Living

Deep-Six The CPI—It Measures Excuses For Money Printing, Not The Real Cost-Of-Living | David Stockman's Contra Corner:
"Those claiming the weighting is accurate face a blizzard of legitimate questions.
For example, if healthcare is 18% of the U.S. GDP, i.e. 18 cents of every dollar goes to healthcare, then how can a mere 7% wedge of the CPI devoted to healthcare be remotely accurate?
In my analysis, the debate over inflation is intrinsically flawed.
What really matters is not the overall rate of inflation, which can be endlessly debated, but the purchasing power of earned income, i.e. wages and the exposure to real-world costs."

“The United States is founded on the democratic principles of equality, fairness, and respect for authority and rules,” the proposed k-8 standards for New York says. “Students will explore democratic principles such as dignity for all, equality, fairness, and respect for authority and rules, and how those principles are applied to their community.”

Simply stated: Liar-in-chief------President Obama’s Bogus Voting Rights Claims

President Obama’s Bogus Voting Rights Claims:
"Last Friday, in a speech at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network conference, President Obama proudly announced that the Justice Department had taken on more than 100 voting rights cases since 2009.
The problem with that claim is that, since 2009, the Justice Department has taken on only 39 voting rights cases—and as former Voting Section lawyer Christian Adams points out, only 13 were related to protecting minority voting rights.
And, with respect to some of the cases in which the department has been involved, it lost spectacularly—such as its false claim that South Carolina’s voter ID law was discriminatory."
.....If the DOJ is going to ignore cases in which voter fraud is being openly admitted, their prosecution statistics will continue to lose any semblance of credibility.
Not surprisingly, the President ignored the hundreds of people that North Carolina just discovered to have voted twice in the 2012 election and the numerous other cases of voter fraud that have been successfully prosecuted over the past decade by state and local authorities.
That wouldn’t fit his narrative either.
The President denounces voter fraud as myth, while ignoring documented cases of blatant voter fraud.

Earth Daze: Overcoming Environmental Hysteria

Earth Daze: Overcoming Environmental Hysteria - Reason.com:
"The recent hype about global warming comes from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Most of its members are serious scientists.
But reporters don't realize that those scientists, like bird flu specialists, have every incentive to hype the risk.
If their computer models (which so far have been wrong) predict disaster, they get attention and money.
If they say, "I'm not sure," they get nothing.

Also, the IPCC is not just a panel of scientists.
It's an intergovernmental panel.
It's a bureaucracy controlled by the sort of people who once ran for student council and are "exhilarated by the prospect of putting the thumb of the federal government on the scale." "

Why Westernized Muslims Become 'Radicalized'

Articles: Why Westernized Muslims Become 'Radicalized':
"A new Danish statistical study finds that “Muslims [are] 218 percent more criminal in second generation than first.”
While some of these crimes are clearly related to Islam – such as attackson Muslim apostates to Christianity – others, such as rampant theft against non-Muslims, would appear banal, until one realizes that even robbery and plunder are justified by Islamic doctrine– as one U.K. Muslim cleric onceclearly said.

The interesting question here is why second-generation Muslims, who are presumably more Westernized than their Muslim parents, are also more “radical.”
Lest one dismiss this phenomenon as a product of economics or some other “grievance” against European host nations, the fact is, even in America, where Muslims are much better assimilated than in Europe, young Muslims are turning to “radicalism.” "
....After all, the mainstream position evoked by most politicians maintains that all U.S. sacrifices in the Muslim world (Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.) will pay off once Muslims discover how wonderful Western ways are, and happily slough off their “Islamist” veneer, which, as the theory goes, is a product of – you guessed it – a lack of democracy, liberty, prosperity, and freedom of expression.
.....Yet here are American and European Muslims, immersed in the bounties of the West, and still do they turn to violent jihad.
Why think their counterparts, who are born and raised in the Muslim world, where Islam permeates every aspect of life, will respond differently?

The progressives don’t s...
:

The progressives don’t see entitlements, Obamacare, and Common Core as a problem.  They see it as a means to an end. The American people will get Obamacare; a health care plan
that will be tailored to fit the will of the ruling party.

The Party Plan!
It may go something like this.  All rules and regulations are subject to change without notice.  Medical care is not guaranteed, implied or promised.  An administrator will evaluate your condition.  He alone will decide if medical attention is required.  Do not seek the advice of a physician on your own.  Physicians no longer have the authority to think or act without the written consent of an administrator.  Please do not ask an administrator to perform any type of medical treatment.  Administrators are not physicians, they just think for them.

Might downloading a 50-cent coupon for Cheerios cost you legal rights?

General Mills, the maker of cereals like Cheerios and Chex as well as brands like Bisquick and Betty Crocker, has quietly added language to its website to alert consumers that they give up their right to sue the company if they download coupons, “join” it in online communities like Facebook, enter a company-sponsored sweepstakes or contest or interact with it in a variety of other ways.

Instead, anyone who has received anything that could be construed as a benefit and who then has a dispute with the company over its products will have to use informal negotiation via email or go through arbitration to seek relief, according to the new terms posted on its site.

......“Although this is the first case I’ve seen of a food company moving in this direction, others will follow — why wouldn’t you?” said Julia Duncan, director of federal programs and an arbitration expert at the American Association for Justice, a trade group representing plaintiff trial lawyers.
“It’s essentially trying to protect the company from all accountability, even when it lies, or say, an employee deliberately adds broken glass to a product.”

State money for Detroit bankruptcy deal no sure bet in Michigan Legislature, but Snyder confident | MLive.com
LANSING, MI -- Gov. Rick Snyder's push to boost Detroit's bankruptcy with state money appears to be gaining steam but is no sure bet in the Michigan Legislature, where lawmakers representing all parts of the state may decide whether to send up to $350 million to the struggling city.
Tentative agreements between Detroit and its under-funded pensions would reduce proposed cuts for retirees and could pave the way for the the city to exit bankruptcy without selling off art work to satiate creditors.

These days, pretty much every story is really the same story:
  • In Galway, at the National University of Ireland, a speaker who attempts to argue against the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) programme against Israel is shouted down with cries of ‘Fucking Zionist, fucking pricks… Get the fuck off our campus.’
  • In California, Mozilla’s chief executive is forced to resign because he once made a political donation in support of the pre-revisionist definition of marriage.
  • At Westminster, the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee declares that the BBC should seek ‘special clearance’ before it interviews climate sceptics, such as fringe wacko extremists like former Chancellor Nigel Lawson.
  • In Massachusetts, Brandeis University withdraws its offer of an honorary degree to a black feminist atheist human rights campaigner from Somalia.
  • In London, a multitude of liberal journalists and artists responsible for everything from Monty Python to Downton Abbey sign an open letter in favour of the first state restraints on the British press in three and a quarter centuries.
  • And in Canberra the government is planning to repeal Section 18C — whoa, don’t worry, not all of it, just three or four adjectives; or maybe only two, or whatever it’s down to by now, after what Gay Alcorn in theAge described as the ongoing debate about ‘where to strike the balance between free speech in a democracy and protection against racial abuse in a multicultural society’.

Police: Man Charged with $45,000 Food Stamp Fraud Bought 1,200 Cases of Red Bull:
A grocery store owner in Bridgeport, Connecticut, was charged Thursday with buying food stamps from 128 customers and using the proceeds to buy $45,000 in bulk merchandise to resell in his shop, including 1,200 cases of Red Bull.

In Baltimore, Abdulmalik Abdulla and Ahmed Mohssen were charged in January with running a food stamp scam that cost taxpayers $1,500,000.
Two illegal immigrants from Korea, Hyung Cho and Dae Cho, were sentenced in February for food stamp fraud that cost taxpayers $1,400,000.
Abdullah Aljaradi, of the Second Obama Express and D&M Deli and Grocery, was indicted for allegedly obtaining more than $2,000,000 in payments for food sales that never occurred.
In Tacoma, Washington, the owner of La Popular Cash and Carry, Sandra Flores, was sentenced to 30 days incarceration and a $120,000 fine for running a food stamp scam.

Americans, this will destroy our country!-------Rescuing Detroit From Its Own Folly

Rescuing Detroit From Its Own Folly — The Patriot Post:
“It is not the business of government … to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly,” said Henry George, a 19th century American writer and politician. Unfortunately, that advice is rarely heeded today.
The Detroit Free Press reports that the federal government is considering providing $100 million to ease the pain of Detroit's ongoing city pension reforms.
The money technically would not be provided directly to the city's pension program, instead going to Michigan's state fund for “blight remediation,” which would allow the state to provide the same amount to Detroit.
But the practical result is the same – the U.S. taxpayer getting stuck with part of the bill for Detroit's decades of foolish, unsupportable pension promises. In our current environment where billions and even trillions are common reference points, $100 million may seem like small potatoes.
But the precedent set by such a bailout would be far-reaching and potentially devastating to the nation's already shaky financial health.
Why?
Because Detroit is just one example of a major city with unsupportable public-employee pension obligations – in fact it's only number 10 on the list of the worst offenders.
The top 10, in order of pension debt per capita: Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Columbus, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Diego, Denver and Detroit.
Considering that public employees are among the most loyal and vocal of Democrat constituencies, the risk of political favoritism is obvious.
As if that's not alarming enough, consider that looming larger behind these cities are states with the same pension debt problems, led by California's estimated $170 billion sea of red ink (and that is the LA Times' “best case” estimate – the worst case is more than $500 billion).
Note, that is not California's total debt; just its un-funded pension obligations.
Barack Obama's home state of Illinois is next with more than $100 billion in un-funded pension debt. If the federal government begins handing out money to save major cities from their pension debts, you can bet the states will come begging soon after.
And the worst pension shortfalls at the state level are concentrated, unsurprisingly, in blue states like California.
As Mark Alexander wrote last year, it's no coincidence that Detroit is in the shape it's in.
