LIBERTY REVIEW

LIBERTY REVIEW:
http://www.libertyreview76.blogspot.com/2014/09/ignorance-at-its-best-by-tammy-derouin.html

A picture of a man in Ferguson, MO is circulating online.  He is wearing a black T-shirtwhich bears an eerie resemblance to the ISIS flag.  His T-shirt states that he would rather be picked up by ISIS than the Ferguson Police Department.  Now there’s ignorance at its best.  This man was probably born in the U.S., which means he was born into freedom.  He is free to live and believe as he wishes, provided it doesn’t harm anyone.  He lives in a country which acknowledges Godgiven rights as stated in the Bill of Rights. He has a Constitution, which was drafted to protect the liberties of the
people, while keeping the government small and under control.  He also has a Declaration of Independence signed by those who were willing to die for their belief that man is allowed, not by a government but by nature’s law, to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

SCIENTISTS: 'EXTREME' SOLAR STORM HEADING TO EARTH

News from The Associated Press:
""There's been a giant magnetic explosion on the sun," Berger said. "Because it's pointed right at us, we'll at least catch some of the cloud" of highly energized and magnetized plasma that can disrupt Earth's magnetic sphere, which sometimes leads to temporary power grid problems.
Forecasters don't yet know when Wednesday's solar storm will arrive here and which part of the planet will be facing the sun and bear the brunt of the effects. It could arrive as early as Thursday morning or may take a few days.
Berger said scientists will have a better idea after they get more satellite data.
The first part of the storm, which arrives in only a few minutes, has already affected radio transmissions.
It can also damage satellites.
The flare is considered "extreme" on forecasters' scale, but just barely so, Berger said"

Blackout: 300 Days Since ABC's 'Nightline' Covered ObamaCare

Blackout: 300 Days Since ABC's 'Nightline' Covered ObamaCare

As of September 10, 2014, it's been 300 days since ABC's Nightline covered ObamaCare.
In the 43 weeks since November 14, 2013, the show has avoided problems with the health care law and instead focused on extremely superficial topics, such as nude reality shows and the royal baby.
When the Associated Press reported, "More people newly insured by Medicaid under ObamaCare are seeking treatment in hospital emergency rooms," the hosts of Nightline didn't notice.
Two new reports found that ObamaCare has not cut the rate of uninsured children. Again, Nightline was silent.
What were the hosts covering instead?
See a video montage below to find out. [MP3 audio here.]
On September 8, 2014, day 299 of ObamaCare's boycott, Juju Chang excitedly opened the show with this tease: "Have a sexy selfie? So do they. From celebs to the new nude reality stars."
She continued, "It looks like everyone is baring it all."
Chang offered this tabloid question: "So, when did it become so fashionable to become undressed?" Reporter Paula Faris replied with her own query: "Why are celebrities taking naked photos of themselves?"

The Era Of Widespread Biometric Indentification And Microchip Implants Is Here

The Era Of Widespread Biometric Indentification And Microchip Implants Is Here:
It is only a matter of time before more banks, online retailers and major websites start using this kind of technology.
....So Motorola has developed a "digital tattoo" that will be used to ensure that only the owner of a phone is able to unlock it.
The following is how  Motorola described these new digital tattoos...
"Made of super thin, flexible materials, based on VivaLnk’s eSkinTM technology, each digital tattoo is designed to unlock your phone with just a touch of your Moto X to the tattoo, no passwords required.
The nickel-sized tattoo is adhesive, lasts for five days, and is made to stay on through showering, swimming, and vigorous activities like jogging.
And it’s beautiful—with a shimmering, intricate design."
....But others are taking cell phone security to even greater extremes.
For example, some people were actually implanting themselves with microchips in anticipation of the release of the iPhone 6 on September 9th...
With a wave of his left hand, Ben Slater can open his front door, turn on the lights and will soon be able to start his car.
Without even a touch he can link to databases containing limitless information, including personal details such as names, addresses and health records.
.....Of course this kind of thing is not new.
People have been getting implanted with microchips for years.
If you doubt this, just do an Internet search for "biohackers" and see what you find.
But it is starting to become more mainstream, and there are already some thinkers that are quite eager to use such technology for very authoritarian purposes.
For example, one prominent philosopher recently suggested that we should use implantable microchips to prevent anyone that is "deemed unworthy" from becoming a parent...
You might be tempted to think that this is crazy talk.
...But the truth is that this kind of technology is already being developed.

Americans fret about mystery virus and illegal kids

Americans fret about mystery virus and illegal kids:
"Just weeks after the Obama administration let more than 37,000 illegal-alien children into the U.S. without health screening, more than 1,000 kids across 10 states have been stricken with a respiratory virus – prompting widespread concerns about a major outbreak sweeping across the nation."

Sooo, the "important" stuff gotta wait until AFTER the election?------5 things Michigan Legislature is likely to do -- and not do -- this fall

5 things Michigan Legislature is likely to do -- and not do -- this fall | Detroit Free Press | freep.com
So here are five things Michiganders can expect — and more important, not expect — to see happen in nine session days in September and three in October.

Road improvements

The Legislature may nibble around the edges of funding for desperately needed road improvements, estimated to cost between $1 billion and $2 billion a year for the next 10 years. The Senate could take up bills that deal with things such as warranties on road projects and fines and fees for overweight trucks that have already passed the House. But a comprehensive solution, which requires some sort of revenue increase, is unlikely before November.
A bipartisan Senate work group has been meeting on the issue but has have not reached a consensus, McCann said.

Seriously? Army Officer Barred from Daughter's School Because of Uniform

Seriously? Army Officer Barred from Daughter's School Because of Uniform  –  Deadline Detroit:

Featured_soldier_14088"As puzzling stories go, this one is pretty darn puzzling.
Fox 2's Maurielle Lue reports that a father in a military uniform was denied access to Rochester Adams High School because of his uniform.
The father was going to the school to talk to his daughter's counselor about her schedule.
Lt. Col. Colonel Sherwood Baker, who has served in the Army for 24 years, reportedly was told by school security that he would have to go home and change if he wanted to get in the school.
He was told the uniform might offend some students, Baker's wife Rachel Ferhadson tells Fox 2."

Senate Democrats No. 1 Priority After the Recess?

Senate Democrats No. 1 Priority After the Recess?:
"When the Senate reconvenes today, the No.1 legislative priority of Democrats is to pass a resolution that would gut the First Amendment, one of the few times in American history an amendment has been proposed to cut back on part of the Bill of Rights.
It’s probably no surprise they want to restrict political speech that could threaten their incumbency, but it is a bit ironic coming just a little more than one week before Constitution Day on Sept. 17."

Oh yeah. Price the gun owners out of the market. The march continues.-----Michigan counties report varied gun permit costs

No mention of the cost to gun owners for permit renewal every few or years gun purchase fees.
And, sorta forgot, the "public" money saved because of all the crimes that never happened because criminals decided it just wasn't worth the risk to attack an armed citizen.
Michigan counties report varied gun permit costs | Crain's Detroit Business:
LANSING — The reported cost of concealed carry gun permits to Michigan taxpayers varies widely in each county, with a high of $214 per permit and a low near $3.
An analysis of county data shows estimated taxpayer costs are inconsistent across the state even though each Michigan gun carrier pays a flat $105 fee for a concealed permit, MLive.com reported. Muskegon County taxpayers pay nearly $26 to process each permit, while it costs $103 in neighboring Newaygo County, according to officials.
Michigan law requires counties to detail the cost of issuing the permits per person. There is little consistency based on the size of a county, and critics think the drastic differences make no sense.
Linda Talsma, Marquette County's clerk, isn't sure why the costs submitted by her office are listed as the lowest. She thinks the reported $3.24 cost isn't realistic.
....The state mandated charge of $105 for concealed pistol applications is split three ways, $26 for counties, $15 for sheriff's offices and $64 for the Michigan State Police.

Feds to Spend $500,000 for New Art at Customs and Border Protection Facility in San Diego | The Weekly Standard:
The "busiest land port of entry in the Western Hemisphere" is getting an upgrade, and according to the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), about a half a million dollars worth of new artwork will be part of the package.
The San Ysidro Land Port of Entry, the border crossing facility for the San Diego-Tijuana region, has been undergoing a $735 million modernization project spanning more than a decade.
Since phase three of the project is included in President Obama's fiscal 2015 budget, the GSA has begun soliciting contractors, and that includes artists who will be commissioned to provided approximately $500,000 in new artwork for the new buildings.

Survey: U.S. workers face a dim future

Survey: U.S. workers face a dim future - New York News:
"WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. workers face a dim future, with stagnant or falling pay and fewer openings for full-time jobs.
That's the picture that emerges from a survey of Harvard Business School alumni.
More than 40 percent of the respondents foresee lower pay and benefits for workers.
Roughly half favor outsourcing work over hiring staffers. A growing share prefer part-time employees.
Nearly half would rather invest in new technology than hire or retain workers.
At the same time, it's becoming harder for the executives to find skilled workers, according to the survey results being released Monday.
..."The bleak picture facing middle and working class Americans are the canary in our coal mine," said Rivkin, a Harvard business professor.
"Eventually, that will come back to haunt business."
.... "One way to think about it: The ship is sinking more slowly," Rivkin said."

Welfare for marijuana: Sen. Jeff Sessions tackles dispensary loophole

Welfare for marijuana: Sen. Jeff Sessions tackles dispensary loophole - Washington Times:
"Welfare recipients can’t use their EBT cards at liquor stores but they can at marijuana dispensaries in states such as Colorado that have legalized pot, Sen. Jeff Sessions revealed Tuesday.
The Alabama Republican announced that he was drafting legislation to close the welfare-for-weed loophole after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services confirmed to him that marijuana shops were not off limits to EBT cards, which replaced food stamps, or other federal benefits.
“The federal government current spends roughly $750 billion each year on means-tested welfare programs across 80 different accounts.
This money is administered by a vast, sprawling bureaucracy with little oversight and no moral vision,” said Mr. Sessions, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee."

Bill Bans EPA's Attack on Property Rights

Bill Bans EPA's Attack on Property Rights:
"The House is expected to vote on legislation as soon as Tuesday that would prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers from moving forward with their proposed “waters of the U.S.” rule.
In April, the EPA and Corps proposed regulation that would define what waters that they can regulate under the Clean Water Act.  For decades, they have tried to expand their jurisdiction.  This proposed rule is no exception, acting as both a water and land power grab. It has little to do with actually improving the environment. "
