Obama Hints at Keystone Pipeline Veto, Says It Won’t Help Jobs or Gas Prices | TheBlaze.com:
“My position hasn’t changed, that this is a process that is supposed to be followed,” Obama said. “Right now you have a case pending in Nebraska, where the pipeline would run through, in which a state court judge has questioned the plan. And until we know what the route is, it’s very hard to finish that evaluation and I don’t think we should short-circuit that process."
This is so very interesting.
There is another "process" that is supposed to be followed.

Michigan Senate OKs sharp gas tax hikes to fix roads
Michigan Senate OKs sharp gas tax hikes to fix roads:
"LANSING, Mich. (Detroit Free Press) -- The Michigan Senate voted Thursday to sharply increase gas taxes over the next four years to potentially raise more than $1 billion annually to fix the state's crumbling roads and bridges.
The bill from Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville, R-Monroe, was passed quickly and without debate, by a 23-14 vote, after a number of false starts earlier in the day, during a lame-duck session.
Richardville told reporters the measure passed Thursday could still change during the remainder of the lame-duck session and it's still possible voters could be asked to approve a 1 percentage point hike in the state's 6% sales tax as an alternative.
The Senate took "a big step to show people we're serious," Richardville said. "If you've got an alternative, we're going to take a look at it."
In the latest version, the wholesale tax would begin at 9% on April 1, 2015 and gradually increase to 15.5% on Jan. 1, 2018.
Based on a wholesale gas price of $2.50 a gallon, that would result in a gas price hike of 17 cents a gallon when fully implemented.
There are measures in the bill to cap price increases if the wholesale price of gas spikes."

FBI Confirms; Firearms Numbers at Record Levels & Violent Crime Decreases
A few days ago we reported of the influence of pistol purchasing/ownership with a decrease in crime rate. The FBI has now released a report confirming what every gun owner already knows… gun ownership increasing will deter thugs.
The FBI just released its data for Crime in the United States, 2013 and gun control lobbyists are probably not going to like what it says.

The FBI just released its data for Crime in the United States, 2013 and gun control lobbyists are probably not going to like what it says.
According to the report, while background checks for firearm purchasers hit record levels in 2013 — 21,093,273 to be exact — “violent crimes in 2013 decreased 4.4 percent when compared with 2012 figures, and the estimated number of property crimes decreased 4.1 percent.”
It’s important to note that background checks for firearm purchasers are fewer than the number of guns sold. Breitbart explains:
… the number of guns sold could be many times higher. That is because background checks are done on gun purchasers, not on the number of guns being purchased.
The truth is that gun purchasers could have picked up multiple firearms during sales, and the numbers wouldn’t include private sales, anyway.

Throughout history, in most cases of economic collapse the societies in question believed they were financially invincible just before their disastrous fall.
Rarely does anyone see the edge of the cliff or even the bottom of the abyss before it has swallowed a nation whole.
This lack of foresight, however, is not entirely the fault of the public.
It is, rather, a consequence caused by the manipulation of the fundamental information available to the public by governments and social gatekeepers

Top 10 Brutal Reasons to Remember our Veterans - Listverse:
Guadalcanal
This 6-month long campaign lasted from August 1942 to February 1943, during which 60,000 Marines lost 7,100 dead, the U. S. Navy lost 29 ships sunk, and the U. S. Army Air Corps lost 615 planes shot down. The Japanese garrison of 36,000 men lost at least 31,000 killed in action, with only 1,000 captured, the rest unaccounted for, 38 ships sunk, and about 700 planes shot down.
Savo Sound, the stretch of water amid Savo Island, Florida Island, and Guadalcanal has been nicknamed Ironbottom Sound because of the 4 dozen ships sitting on the ocean floor. It is considered sacred to both navies and silence is observed whenever a ship passes through it.
While the navies dueled to the death off the coast, Guadalcanal was the scene of triple canopy jungle fighting of the same drawn-out attrition as that seen in Vietnam. The most bitter fighting was seen around the airstrip, renamed Henderson Field in honor of Lofton Henderson, killed in action at Midway; and “Edson’s Ridge,” also called “Bloody Ridge,” overseeing the airstrip and which the Japanese attempted to wrest from the Marines.

MN wind and solar mandate would mean costly grid upgrade « Watchdog.org:
"A new report released by the Minnesota Commerce Department lays the technical groundwork for ramping up one of the nation’s highest state renewable energy mandates from 30 to 40 percent by 2030.
One technicality left out of the $750,000 study underwritten by Minnesota utility ratepayers?
Who pays for what in a potentially massive upgrade of high voltage transmission lines from the Dakotas to Indiana.
“The results indicate that Minnesota’s renewable energy standard is clearly on track and that the capacity for adding additional wind and solar up to 40% by 2030 can be reliably accommodated by the electric power system,” according to a Minnesota Commerce Department news release.
A search of the 178-page report shows the authors never mention ratepayers, leaving unanswered whether spending nearly $400 million to upgrade the grid would be a good investment for Minnesota consumers and employers.
“It doesn’t say it would be cost effective to upgrade the system to accommodate 40 percent renewables. It doesn’t say it would be a good idea,” said Bill Glahn, an independent energy analyst for Piedmont Consulting and a former Pawlenty administration energy official.
“It just said that given enough time and money, it’s technically feasible.
I could have told you that.”"

How to Create a Safe Room in Your House or Apartment
The homes of many rich, famous people have a secret hidden within them.
Somewhere, in the depths of the home, is a secure room to which the residents can retreat in the event of a home invasion or violent intruder.
A safe room was carved into the original house plan, and many of these are state of the art.
Features might include a bank of monitors for viewing what’s going on outside the room, a small kitchenette, comfortable furnishings, fresh air venting, and a hardened communications system.
These expertly designed rooms can cost tens of thousands of dollars, but you don’t have to be a movie star or a multi-millionaire to build your own version of a safe room.
Even the most humble home or apartment can have on a place to which vulnerable family members can retreat if they are under threat.
