LIBERTY REVIEW

Little Red
By Tammy Derouin
Fairy tales have a purpose; at least they did before they were sanitized. Little Red Riding Hood is probably my favorite example. Little Red stared at extremely vital and crucial evidence, but chose to dismiss it. She knew something wasn’t right because she asked some very good questions. How is it possible to stare into the eyes of the wolf and accept his ridiculous, but apparently convincing, answers? Was she afraid to look at the past and all the events which led up to this fateful event? Did she deny the fate of her grandmother? Maybe, Little Red wanted to be grandmotherly correct and didn’t want to offend by pointing out some extremely obvious changes.

Jonah Goldberg on FNC: ‘Transmission Belt of Liberal Journalists’ Reaffirmed Gruber’s Mendacity:
"National Review’s Jonah Goldberg went on a tear on Monday’s Special Report with Bret Baier, connecting the circles of lies by the White House and Jonathan Gruber that had impact thanks to liberal journalists.
Goldberg charged that, in the lead up to the ObamaCare vote, Gruber was “being touted around through a transmission belt of liberal journalists, who all are all pretending to be objective analysts too, quoting each other, reaffirming each other, all with the help of the White House which went along with this soup to nuts – a process which this guy says was all about lies and misleading the American people.”

Amnesty for 5 million illegals-but 120 poor, international Christian college students here legally get the boot?
Amnesty for 5 million illegals-but 120 poor, international Christian college students here legally get the boot?
The Obama Administration is apparently set to grant amnesty to some five million illegal aliens, but meanwhile the feds are gearing up to boot 120 poor, Christian college students back to their homelands – students who are in this country legally.
This infuriating story comes by way of Todd Starnes of Fox News, whoreports that the Ohio-based Marietta Bible College, a small unaccredited school that provides Bible training mostly for impoverished international students, has had their recertification to allow foreign students to attend American schools denied by the feds.
The tale Starnes weaves is a he-said, she-said bureaucratic red-tape nightmare between the feds and school administrators. Campus officials said they’ve filed all the proper paperwork. The feds deny it.
But the bottom line is this: Why can we grant amnesty to 5 million people who flouted our laws, but not give a little leeway to 120 poor college students from Third World countries who actually went through the proper channels and are simply here studying the Bible?!
“The 34-year-old college may no longer accept international students and those who are currently enrolled in the Bible school must either transfer to another college by February or face deportation,” Starnes reports.
“They are a lovely bunch of kids who love the word of God and they love to pray,” the college’s president told Starnes. “And now the government wants … us to close.”
Tour Guides In Savannah Sue To End City’s Licensing Requirement
The Institute for Justice:
Savannah, Ga.—Tour guides are storytellers, and in America, you shouldn’t need a license to tell a story. But the city of Savannah disagrees, imposing a host of regulatory burdens on people who want to talk to paying tour groups.
That’s why, today, a coalition of current and would-be Savannah tour guides has joined forces with the Institute for Justice to file a federal lawsuit seeking to vindicate an important First Amendment principle: The government cannot require a license to tell a story.
For years, the city of Savannah has required tour guides to run a bureaucratic gauntlet of requirements to obtain a license before they can lead a tour. Guides are required to take a multiple-choice test on the city’s history, undergo a criminal background check and produce a certificate from a doctor verifying that they are sufficiently healthy to talk. In addition, Savannah makes the city’s tour guides pay a special speech tax based on the size of their audience.
Anyone who leads a tour without a license risks fines, jail time or even forced participation in a municipal “work gang.”

VIDEO: Will Gruber Be Prosecuted for Orchestrating Fraud?:
"On Monday, Fox News’ Judge Jeanine Pirro relates her experience behind the bench and notes that Gruber should be prosecuted for his willingness to defraud hundreds of millions of Americans.
Judge Jeanine notes: (Emphasis added)
So what do we do about an administration that lies to us? One that pays a man 400 thousand dollars to make the health care bill as convoluted as possible? To write the bill in a tortured way to make sure the congressional budget office doesn’t say the mandate was a tax?
Now it may be my background – but when someone lies and admits they perpetrated a fraud and picks a victim they think they can fool, which costs that victim money, they should be prosecuted for fraud."

ROUND ROCK, Texas – Abortion clinics are businesses, just like muffler shops or fast food restaurants.
They need a steady parade of clients to survive, so they go out and create them in public schools.
That’s the conclusion Carol Everett came to after years of working as an abortion clinic manager in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Now a converted pro-life advocate, Everett is sharing this sickening reality with parents, lawmakers and anyone else who wants to listen, as often as she can.
Public school sexual education programs run by pro-choice groups “break down the natural modesty (of students), they separate them from their parents and their values … and they eventually give them low-dose birth control pills they know they’ll get pregnant on,” Everett told EAGnews.
“They don’t tell parents what they’re doing.”
....“We went to the schools as early as kindergarten,” Everett said of her years working in the industry.
During those sessions, sex ed instructors “are planting the seed (in student’s minds) that parents don’t know what they are talking about.”
During those sessions, sex ed instructors “are planting the seed (in student’s minds) that parents don’t know what they are talking about.”
In elementary schools, the sex ed curriculum utilizes several books – such as Robie H. Harris’ “It’s So Amazing,” “It’s Perfectly Normal,” and “It’s Not the Stork” – to acclimate students to the idea of sex, and to promote sexual behaviors.
“By fourth grade they encourage them to masturbate alone, or in groups of four or five of the same sex,” Everett said.
By fifth or sixth grade, the curriculum turns to “talking about having sex” and intentionally encourages a “parents don’t understand you” mentality.Everett said.

Colorado changes welfare rule, increasing benefits and costing taxpayers
Colorado changes welfare rule, increasing benefits and costing taxpayers « Watchdog.org
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families is six month less temporary in Colorado — and likely more expensive to taxpayers — after a state Department of Human Services rule change last year, a Watchdog.org investigation found.
The change has counties certifying a welfare recipients’ eligibility to receive benefits twice a year, records show.
Previously, the full recertification was annual but recipients would submit monthly status reports to ensure they qualified for benefits and received the correct amount.
The new rule dropped the monthly status checks and required modifications to benefits in the six month period only if the recipient was due more — not less — money, records show.
After the change went into effect July 2013, counties have seen an increase in the number of people collecting welfare, and the state set a 24-month expenditure record in June for Colorado Works, which is what the state calls its TANF program, state records show.

“If you have the action on the streets from Ferguson and it is spreading, why would the president throw another log on the fire the same week?” Beck asked. “Why, Mr. President? Please just explain this to the American people. Why does this have to happen now? Why would you choose this now? I want to believe the best in you. I want to believe that we don’t want to tear the republic apart. Domestic tranquility.”
“This is not the time to come out with an executive order, one that you said you couldn’t defend,” Beck added. “Why would you do it on the same week as Ferguson?”

Rejected for Being Asian: Students Sue Harvard, UNC Over Race-Based Admissions
Rejected for Being Asian: Students Sue Harvard, UNC Over Race-Based Admissions - Hit & Run : Reason.com:
"Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are facing lawsuits over their race-based admissions schemes, which hold Asian and white students to higher standards because of their skin color.
The lawsuits were filed Monday by a group of interested parties, including two unnamed college students who were rejected from Harvard and UNC.
According to Inside Higher Ed, the Harvard applicant is of Asian ethnicity:
He had a perfect ACT score, two 800s on SAT II subject exams, and was valedictorian of his high school.
He didn't get in.
Remarkably, Harvard has managed to keep its Asian student population constant over the years, while universities that don't consider race as an admission factor have seen more and more Asians gain admittance.
....One professor even had the gall to suggest that discriminating against Asians is good for Asians. According to Fox News:
“Asian-American students benefit greatly from attending the racially and socio-economically diverse campuses that affirmative action helps create,” Julie Park, assistant professor of education at the University of Maryland and author of the book “When Diversity Drops,” told FoxNews.com."

The unkindest cut of all: The Russian Solution for dealing with terrorism | The Wilmington Examiner:
"Despite being then, as now, the former USSR/current Russian Federation being a major player in the region, not a single Soviet was ever taken hostage.
Not one.
There was a story floating around back then that very well could be an urban myth.
But true or not, it correctly painted quite a picture of that particular Russian trait of killing flies with sledgehammers.
As the story goes, Soviet intel uncovered a plot to nab some very minor Russian staffer in Lebanon by whatever group of terrorists who sought to make a name for themselves.
Supposedly, the leader of this particular group woke up one morning and noticed a small drinking glass on a table next to his bed.
Possibly somewhat disconcerting for the would-be abductor, there was no drinking glass on the table when he sacked out the night before.
In the water filled glass was some unrecognizable fleshy-looking material.
As the cautionary tale goes, next to the glass was a small note which said:
“These are your brother’s testicles.
Abandon your plan to harm any Soviet citizen.”
True story?
Who knows … who cares.
The fact of the matter is that no Russians were ever taken hostage back then.
Not one."

Michigan Health Care Costs Set To Skyrocket In 2015, Detroit & Lansing Regions To Be Hit With Double Digit Increases
On Friday, the Obama Administration released its health care cost projections for 2015 and the news isn't good for Michigan families. Despite numerous promises of lower costs from the Administration and its supporters on Capitol Hill, the majority of Michiganders will be hit with significant cost increases in the year ahead. Making matters worse, residents in the most populous areas of the state, including Detroit and Lansing, are facing double digit increases.
“Throughout the debate on reforming our nation’s health care system, I have continually expressed my reservations about ObamaCare and its ability to provide better access to care at lower costs,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “This latest report again demonstrates that ObamaCare is not and will not be the answer to controlling costs. Moving forward, we need the President to be a constructive voice in the discussion surrounding patient-centered solutions that empower consumers, drive down costs, and improve care.”
