"U.S. State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki was seemingly caught on a hot mic calling one of her prepared statements on one of America’s policies on Egypt “ridiculous” following a press conference.
When reporters, including the Associated Press’ Matt Lee, pressed her to comment on the acquittal of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, she provided a pre-written response."

Medicaid Malfunctions
Medicaid Malfunctions - Reason.com:
"When President Obama pitched his health care overhaul in 2008 and 2009, he repeatedly argued that the existing health system relied too heavily on emergency room usage by the uninsured, which drove up the cost of care for everyone else.
"If there are affordable options and people still don't sign up for health insurance, it means we pay for those people's expensive emergency room visits," he said in one speech promoting the law.
But the argument that emergency room usage could be reduced by passing the health law never quite held up.
...The results are clear: Emergency room visits are up significantly more in expansion states than in non-expansion states"

What happened to Michigan House Democrats' petition to slay high gasoline prices?
Ken Braun: What happened to Michigan House Democrats' petition to slay high gasoline prices? | MLive.com:
..Substitute fuel price conspiracies for fraudulent faith healing, and my dad’s fake pastors have nothing on our politicians.
This week, I filled a tank at Kroger for $2.50 per gallon. Inflation-adjusted, that is 44 cents lower than what was paid back in 1974, the year after an example of real and deliberately malicious producer price fixing - the 1973 Arab oil embargo - rocked the national and world economy.
..Substitute fuel price conspiracies for fraudulent faith healing, and my dad’s fake pastors have nothing on our politicians.
During June of 2013, Democrats in the Michigan House unveiled LowerMIGasPrices.com.
It was a Web page dedicated to a legislative resolution calling on Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette to investigate whether “big oil companies” were “colluding to unfairly increase gas prices.”
It was a Web page dedicated to a legislative resolution calling on Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette to investigate whether “big oil companies” were “colluding to unfairly increase gas prices.”
“If the cost for gasoline is being unfairly set by unscrupulous producers, wholesalers or retailers,” said House Democratic Leader Tim Greimel of Auburn Hills, “those vendors need to be prosecuted.”
Republican State Sen. Rick Jones of Grand Ledge created a similar stir by calling on Congress to look into the prices.
Shortly thereafter, I demonstrated that if price collusion was really taking place, then “big oil” was doing a poor job of it.
The price of gasoline in August of 2013 was $3.60 per gallon, roughly the same - inflation adjusted - as the price paid in Michigan way back in 1981.
...Is it an accident the Democrats’ “War on Women” drumbeat increased in intensity as those gasoline prices fell?
Probably no more a coincidence than the current state of the LowerMIGasPrices.competition page, created by House Democrats a year ago this summer.
It is now as easy to find as the medical records proving the maladies of those cured by greedy televangelists.
It is now as easy to find as the medical records proving the maladies of those cured by greedy televangelists.
All of the ‘gas price’ Web content has vanished, replaced by an unintentionally ironic “Fatal error” message on the page.
Except it wasn’t an “error.”
It was just a scam.
No “big oil” collusion was discovered, because it did not happen.
The names of those who signed that petition have been forgotten just as the Web page has. Or, perhaps like the easy marks who reliably fill the coffers of the phony preachers, those petition names have been saved in some database so as to beguile the gullible yet again.
Both the politician and TV faith healer prey upon our need to believe bad things can be fixed with the extraordinary interventions of supposedly extraordinary mortals.
The bogus cleric scams his flock by citing the authority of God, and the politician by slaying dragons that don’t exist.
Alas, exposing these frauds is as easy as it is pointless, because there’s always customers willing buy anything.
Fast-food workers plan to strike in 150 American cities
Fast-food workers plan to strike in 150 American cities:
"Fast-food workers in more than 150 U.S. cities are expected to walk off their jobs Thursday(12/4), the latest in a series of protests demanding a higher minimum wage and the opportunity to unionize.
These planned labor disruptions are part of a campaign that began two years ago with nationwide strikes and that flared most recently in September.
The walkouts are backed by one of the country's largest labor organizations, the Service Employees International Union.
And organizers say their movement is gaining momentum.
"Seattle and San Francisco passed laws raising wages to $15 over the next couple years, and cities from New York to Los Angeles are pushing for higher wages too," according to the website of StrikeFastFood, a group involved in planning the walkouts.
"But there's still a long way to go before every worker gets $15 an hour and the right to form a union without retaliation.
It's going to be a hard fight, but we know we can do it. We don't have any other choice."
McDonald's is expected to be the focus of this week's work stoppages."

A Two-Day Battle to Charge My Car Convinced Me We're Not Ready for EVs
A Two-Day Battle to Charge My Car Convinced Me We're Not Ready for EVs | WIRED
The real-world range of a Nissan Leaf is roughly 80 miles (84, according to the sticker on the window). That’s on par with pretty much everything else except theway more expensive, road trip-ready Tesla Model S.
I left San Francisco with about 50 miles left in the Leaf’s 24 kilowatt-hour pack, and knew when I arrived that I wouldn’t have enough have enough juice to make the 35-mile drive back.
I left San Francisco with about 50 miles left in the Leaf’s 24 kilowatt-hour pack, and knew when I arrived that I wouldn’t have enough have enough juice to make the 35-mile drive back.
Once I’d wrapped up my meeting and gotten back to the car, I used the Leaf’s navigation system to find the nearest charging station.
I figured I’d hang out for half an hour or so before heading north.
The Leaf, like many EVs, will direct you to the nearest charging station.
That system isn’t nearly good enough:
First off, it doesn’t tell you whether the station is occupied.
That’s a real problem:
Unlike a gas station, it doesn’t take three minutes for each car to fill up and move on.
It takes at least 20 minutes, and that means if the plug you need is taken, you’re going to be waiting a while.

Daily Show: Whites Bringing Up Black-on-Black Crime Should ‘Go ‘F**k Themselves’ | Media Research Center:
"On Dec. 2, Jon Stewart brought on "The Daily Show," “Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore," to bash conservatives for calling out the more deadly epidemic of black on black crime in light of the Ferguson protests.
Playing CNN clips of Mayor Rudy Giuliani and others calling out the media to talk about the “real epidemic” of black-on-black crime, Stewart asks Wilmore,
“What do you say to those people?”
“Oh, I don’t know Jon.
I would say maybe they should probably go fuck themselves.”
This response of course garnered cheer and applause from the audience.
He continued:
“First of all, can we stop calling it ‘black on black crime?’
It’s just crime.
Okay?
I mean black on black just makes it sound like a category on Red Tube.
That’s a porn site, John.”
After some lewd jokes about porn, Stewart asks Wilmore,
“You don’t think a conversation about black on black crime should be happening now?” "

Doubling Down On Climate Alarmism
Doubling Down On Climate Alarmism
Falsified Alarmism
The United States/China pact and the UN meeting in South America are little more than desperate attempts to keep the climate agenda going in an energy-hungry, fossil-fuel world.
Consumers are choosing oil, gas, and coal over politically correct, economically inferior substitutes. But in the intellectual/government/pundit sphere, a witch’s brew of bad science and Gruber salesmanship has turned an intellectual cause into a fringe religion — and self-defeating politics.
For decades, climate campaigners have warned that, unless we cut CO2 emissions rapidly and drastically, environmental devastation will be just around the corner.
Like the running-out-of-oil predictions since the 1860s, the running-out-of-livable-climate (“tipping point“) meme of the last 25 years has been repeatedly falsified.
President Obama’s science advisor John Holdren, for example, refuses to disavow his 1980s prediction that by 2020, a billion people could perish from famine induced by man-made climate change.
Holdren, going down with the Obama ship, now manufactures fringe analyses as mainstream science.

A Note to Our Readers | Rolling Stone:
To Our Readers:
Last month, Rolling Stone published a story titled "A Rape on Campus" by Sabrina Rubin Erdely, which described a brutal gang rape of a woman named Jackie at a University of Virginia fraternity house; the university's failure to respond to this alleged assault – and the school's troubling history of indifference to many other instances of alleged sexual assaults. The story generated worldwide headlines and much soul-searching at UVA. University president Teresa Sullivan promised a full investigation and also to examine the way the school responds to sexual assault allegations.
Because of the sensitive nature of Jackie's story, we decided to honor her request not to contact the man she claimed orchestrated the attack on her nor any of the men she claimed participated in the attack for fear of retaliation against her. In the months Erdely spent reporting the story, Jackie neither said nor did anything that made Erdely, orRolling Stone's editors and fact-checkers, question Jackie's credibility. Her friends and rape activists on campus strongly supported Jackie's account. She had spoken of the assault in campus forums. We reached out to both the local branch and the national leadership of the fraternity where Jackie said she was attacked. They responded that they couldn't confirm or deny her story but had concerns about the evidence.
In the face of new information, there now appear to be discrepancies in Jackie's account, and we have come to the conclusion that our trust in her was misplaced. We were trying to be sensitive to the unfair shame and humiliation many women feel after a sexual assault and now regret the decision to not contact the alleged assaulters to get their account. We are taking this seriously and apologize to anyone who was affected by the story.

White Privilege Conference: Being white is like being an alcoholic | The Daily Caller:
"The 15th annual National White Privilege Conference took place in Madison, Wisconsin, last week — subjecting attendees to informational sessions that explained why everything they did was inherently racist and oppressive.
The conference was funded in part by hotel tax revenues, the University of Wisconsin and the City of Madison — in other words, by taxpayer dollars.
It was a colorful week, according to an account by the MacIver Institute
Kim Radersma, a former high school English teacher and current activist, hosted a session titled, “Stories from the front lines of education:
Confessions of a white, high school English teacher.”
Radersma advised participants — who paid more than $400 for the privilege of hearing her rant about privilege — that teaching was a purely political act, and neutral people should “get the fuck out of education.” (RELATED: University addresses racism by having a racially segregated group discussion)
“Teaching is a political act, and you can’t choose to be neutral,” said Radersma.
“You are either a pawn used to perpetuate a system of oppression or you are fighting against it.
And if you think you are neutral, you are a pawn.”
All teachers who do not actively confront the system are promoting white supremacy, said Radersma.
She also said that white people fighting oppression is akin to alcoholic trying to resist the temptation to drink.

I don’t think this is a joke.
Please, someone tell me this is a joke.

Student Fakes a Rape Threat to Advance Diversity Initiatives
Student Fakes a Rape Threat to Advance Diversity Initiatives | National Review Online:
"A federal investigation revealed that a racist rape threat against a University of Chicago student activist was actually fake, written by the student’s friend to gain support for their cultural-sensitivity initiatives.
Freshman Derek Caquelin posted a threat against junior Vincente Perez on his own Facebook wall on November 18 — and then claimed a racist hacker must have done it.
Perez had co-written a petition earlier in November demanding that the university address cultural-sensitivity issues after he saw students wearing Mexican Halloween costumes that had offended him. The petition’s demands included “a mandatory cross-cultural competency program” and faculty “diversification.”"

The College Fix recently reported on emerging questions regarding the alleged gang rape at the University of Virginia.
Even the Washington Post is now questioning the accuracy of Rolling Stonereporter Sabrina Rubin Erdely’s UVA story.
Does the Post also believe the Holocaust never happened?

Sears to accelerate closings, shutter 235 stores
The retailer also said it's accelerating the number of stores it plans to close this year, boosting its list from the 130 underperforming stores it announced in its second-quarter earnings release, to a total of 235 stores.
Analysts called the move a step in the right direction for the company, which has been tapping into its real estate in creative ways to compensate for downward-spiraling sales.
Still, they said the haircut won't be enough on its own to turn the tide at Sears, adding that it needs to close even more stores—and figure out how to become profitable.
....Sozzi sounded a more sour note on Sears, saying "the soul of this report is really bad."
Although the company said it expects its improving year-over-year adjusted earnings trend to continue in the fourth quarter, Sozzi said it was concerning that the retailer didn't offer up any sales figures for the holidays so far.
...According to Retail Metrics, Sears hasn't posted a quarterly profit since fourth quarter 2012.

Sowell: 'Psychiatrist' Needed to Explain GOP Wanting More Foreign Workers
Sowell: 'Psychiatrist' Needed to Explain GOP Wanting More Foreign Workers
Thomas Sowell, author of "Basic Economics," argued that increasing the number of foreign workers in the US "will keep down the wages of American workers" and that "you would have to get a psychiatrist" to explain the GOP's support for increased foreign labor on Thursday's "Laura Ingraham Show."
"The competition will keep down the wages of American workers, I mean, this is not a new principle. I mean this has been known for hundreds of years," he stated.
When asked why the GOP would support such a policy, he responded "you would have to get a psychiatrist or someone like that to explain that. There are cleaning women who say 'I don't do windows. I don't explain Republicans.'"
On the issue of giving the president fast-track authority on trade, Sowell argued that while "by and large free trade does benefit the country," "a lot of what is called free trade is not free trade."
