Scott Walker's Big and Bold Iowa Address

Scott Walker's Big and Bold Iowa Address:

"The governor called for leaders in Washington who understand it’s not important to build the economy of Washington, but to build it in states and towns across the country. He also briefly addressed foreign policy by saying, “We need leaders that understand when freedom-loving people anywhere are under attack, we need to stand with them.” Walker used the phrase “radical Islamic terrorists,” a move likely meant to draw a contrast between him and Obama, who recently said he doesn’t like the term “radical Islam.”

Near the end of his address, before saying he’d be back to Iowa many times, Walker said, “The measure of success for government should not be how many people depend upon it, but how many are no are longer dependent on it."

Muslim Protesters Tried To Destroy This City Meeting, But This Jewish Councilman Fought Back:

"New York City Councilman David Greenfield denounced a group of pro-Palestinian activists who disrupted Thursday’s Council meeting during a discussion on a resolution commemorating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp. Activists had gathered in the balcony of the chamber and shouted “Palestinian lives matter” and displayed a Palestinian flag. Greenfield, the grandchild of Holocaust survivors, delivered an impassioned speech that exposed the protesters as plain anti-Semites.

While we were discussing a resolution regarding the murder of 1.1 million human beings, I will point out that 90 percent of whom were Jewish, but the other 10 percent were political dissidents; "

Saudi religious leader OKs rape of children

Saudi religious leader OKs rape of children:

“The ulema have agreed that it is permissible for fathers to marry off their small daughters, even if they are in the cradle,” the edict declared. “But it is not permissible for their husbands to have sex with them unless they are capable of being placed beneath and bearing the weight of the men. And their capability in this regard varies based on their nature and capacity. Aisha was six when she married the prophet, but he had sex with her when she was nine, that is, when she was deemed capable.”

Fawzan said there is nothing in Islamic, or Shariah law, that sets a minimum age limit on marrying girls, citing Quran 65:4."

Neighbors: Marijuana grow house smelling up Commerce City neighborhood - 7NEWS Denver TheDenverChannel.com:
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - People in a Commerce City neighborhood say the smell of marijuana coming from a grow house is so strong, at times, they can't go outside.
On Saturday, Trudy Moser went before her Homeowners Association in the Fronterra Village to ask whether it can issue fines for the nuisance smell coming from one house, five doors down the road.
"Last summer, as it started to warm up, it's like, "'Gosh, what is that smell?'" said Moser.
"We couldn't sit out on our patio, because it just kind of ruins your drink or your dinner."
Other neighbors are also turning up their noses to the stink.
"You can close every window turn everything off, and you can still smell it inside," said Melissa, who did not want to use her last name.
Neighbors complained to police, and a police report states that eventually drug task force officers were allowed inside the home, finding 76 marijuana plants in a basement that had been converted into a full-fledged grow house.
The report states that the Vietnamese family that owns the house admitted to running grow operations in two homes in the neighborhood, claiming it was all legal and showing a permit to grow as medical marijuana users and caregivers.
The report states that the District Attorney closed the case citing "insufficient evidence."

Ted Cruz Throws Down the Gauntlet to GOP Establishment Presidential Hopefuls: ‘Show Me Where You Fought’

Ted Cruz Throws Down the Gauntlet to GOP Establishment Presidential Hopefuls: ‘Show Me Where You Fought’:

"Seeming to speak directly to the other potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates, especially the establishment types, Cruz threw down a gauntlet of powerful “show me where you stood up and fought” challenges:
“And one of the most important roles for the men and women in this room is to look each candidate in the eye and say, ‘Don’t talk; show me.’

If you say you support liberty, show me where you stood up and fought it.
If you say you support religious liberty, show me where you stood up and fought for it.
If you say you oppose Obamacare, show me where you stood up and fought against it."

And he continues...

For years the Progressive left has made the case that the United States should be more like Europe. From the way we consume oil, to our healthcare system, the Progressives are convinced that Europe does it better.
But I wonder what the American left would say about a recent article on the National Post, which reports that some on the European left are saying that a video, targeting children, consisting of dancing genitalia, isn’t quite Progressive enough:
“STOCKHOLM — In socially liberal Sweden, an educational video for children featuring dancing genitals has become an online hit — and even drawn criticism for not being progressive enough.
“The one-minute animated video by public broadcaster SVT, promoting a television series about the human body, has been seen by more than 4 million YouTube viewers.
“Producers say many parents found it a great way to explain about private parts to children, though some called it inappropriate for a program aimed at children aged 3-6.
“Programming director Peter Bargee said Thursday the clip also drew “unexpected” criticism from some Swedes, who said portraying the penis with a moustache and the vagina with long eyelashes reinforced gender stereotypes.

Neither Obama Nor Biden Attending 70th Anniversary of Auschwitz Liberation – and the White House Won’t say Why | TheBlaze.com

Neither Obama Nor Biden Attending 70th Anniversary of Auschwitz Liberation – and the White House Won’t say Why | TheBlaze.com:

"The White House did not return request for comment Friday evening as to why neither the president nor the vice president are attending.

The New York Times reported earlier this week that among those attending would be French President François Hollande, Austrian President Heinz Fischer, Belgium King Philippe of Belgium, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark.

Reports of Obama missing this event come after he didn’t attend other high-profile events, such as the rally in Parisin the wake of the Charlie Hebdo terror attack. More recently, Obama has been scrutinized for declining to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he arrives in Washington in March."

What's Going on With the Volcanoes?

What's Going on With the Volcanoes? | The Daily Sheeple:
"According to the USGS, 50-60 volcanoes erupt EACH YEAR.
Today there are 41 going off at the same time.
Obviously this isn’t a problem.
We know it’s not a problem because if it was, the mainstream media would be all over it and the government would be warning us that all the volcanic activity and the gases that pumps into the atmosphere may have a cooling effect on the planet.
They would be advising us that the huge amount of volcanic activity, coupled with the smallest sunspot cycle for a hundred years, means that demand for electricity may outpace supply next winter because both are proven to drop temperatures on a global scale.
They would be telling us to step up the preps, make sure we have enough food to last, should growing conditions deteriorate as they did in 1816 after Tambora erupted the previous year.
Tambora was a cataclysmic explosion, but 41 volcanoes spewing out their sun reflecting gases is heading us in the same direction, and that’s without considering the lack of sunspots during the current solar cycle.
Hey, you don’t think they know but aren’t telling us do you?
Do you think they could be keeping it quiet to perpetuate the myth of global warming?
I mean it does bring in big bucks via green taxes.
Nah, the government is there to help us…isn’t it?"

DNR Fee Increase Backfires
Politicians of all stripes are rooting around for fresh money to fulfill past, present, and future promises lately, figuring that the economy is so hot that their depredations will go unnoticed and have no consequences.
Let’s take a look at a Michigan example: the increase in license fees for hunting and fishing which the Legislature authorized in 2013 and which took effect in 2014.
The most popular hunting and fishing license prices doubled under the new fee schedule, although a direct comparison is not possible because the licenses were restructured to ‘simplify’ the license schedule. Governor Snyder’s goal for these increases was to raise an additional $ 18.1 million dollars annually for the DNR.
The Senate Fiscal Agency benchmarked the anticipated annual increase at $ 19.7 million.
...So how did this work out?
Not well.
Instead of $ 11.7 million, the DNR’s revenue increase was only $ 7.8 million in the first license year.
Sales of expensive (and thus very lucrative) nonresident fishing licenses were down 40%.
Overall fishing license sales were down 5%.
...Now for the really bad news which our mathematically challenged government and journalists missed. Or maybe just did not want to spell out for you.
Sport fishing is a $ 2.5 billion economic contributor to the Michigan economy according to the DNR and, if the 5% decline in 2014 fishing license sales accurately reflects reduced sport fishing related expenditures, the DNR just cost the Michigan economy $ 125 million dollars to achieve a $ 7.8 million revenue increment.

It's nothing new. THEY DO IT ALL OVER THE COUNTRY!-----Des Moines schools racked up six-figure travel bills in 2013-14

Des Moines schools racked up six-figure travel bills in 2013-14 - EAGnews.org:
"DES MOINES, Iowa –  Around 2010 and 2011, in the midst of the Great Recession, public schools throughout the nation were cutting costs dramatically.
One very common and logical cut for school employees was out-of-state travel.
The Des Moines, Iowa school district was one of the many districts to impose such a travel ban, as part of an effort to cut $3.3 million from its budget in 2010, according to news reports.
Forward to 2013, when the Des Moines district prepared its first budget in several years with projected revenues outpacing expenditures.
The toughest times had past and things were back to normal.
And sure enough, employees from the district were traveling again, and doing it a lot.
...Des Moines school employees spent at least $10,000 with seven different hotels, including Hilton Hotels ($15,764), La Quinta Inn Suites ($15,693), Charles Hotel ($12,852), Hyatt Hotels Atlanta ($11,802), Embassy Suites Airport ($11,678), The Warwick Hotel ($10,266) and Mariott Hotels Kansas ($10,075).
Those are apparently all pretty nice places to stay for a few days.
The Charles Hotel, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, advertises itself as an “upscale hotel with a spa, jazz club and restaurant.”
The district also spent $11,962 through Hotels.com.
Overall the district’s lodging tab for 2013-14 came to a cool $408,751.
Of course district employees had to reach their destinations to stay at those hotels. The district spent another $288,824 on air fare and related costs throughout the year.
The district’s favorite airlines were American ($75,974), Delta ($69,935), USAirways ($62,337) and United ($47,833).
School records didn’t reveal any tickets purchased from budget airlines like Jet Blue, which are known to pack in a few more passengers but charge significantly less.
A total of $13,740 went to travel agents.
No doubt the Des Moines school district was a preferred customer at those companies.
There was another $11,989 spent at various RV resorts.
...While they’re at it, taxpayers may also want to ask district officials about their restaurant tab.
District employees spent money at 735 food vendors in 2013-14, and spent a grand total of $58,174.
Two vendors – Planet Hollywood ($1,376) and Giordino’s on Jackson ($1,051) – made more than $1,000 off the district.
Another 161 vendors were paid at least $100.
Bon appetit to those employees who enjoyed all the nice dining, and our sympathies to the taxpayers who picked up the tabs."

How the European dream is dying, state by state

How the European dream is dying, state by state - Telegraph:
"Europe is being swept by a wave of popular disenchantment and revolt against mainstream political parties and the European Union.
In 2007, a majority of Europeans - 52 per cent - trusted the EU.
That trust has now fallen to 35 per cent.
Once, Britain's Euroscpeticism was the exception, and seen as the biggest threat to the future of the EU.
But now other countries pose a far bigger danger thanks to the political discontents unleashed by the euro,
In Greece, a far-Left Socialist party, Syriza, is poised to win elections with a political programme that would overturn eurozone policies.
Many believe the Greek revolt against the loss of their economic sovereignty by eurozone diktat from Brussels or Frankfurt is only the beginning.
In France, Italy and Spain, voters are kicking against mainstream parties that they see as upholding EU institutions such as the euro while failing to represent their own people, the voters.
In Britain, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark it is immigration that has become the touchstone for a popular sense that institutions do not represent them.
Even in Germany the cracks in the European political order are beginning to show.
There are plenty of opportunities for revolt: parliamentary elections take place in Greece, Britain, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Portugal and Spain.
Early elections are also expected in Italy.
It might be too early to call this the death of European unity.
But the outlook for what Winston Churchill prophetically called a "United States of Europe" has never been stormier."

Teacher Sends Parents Letter For Packing Daughter’s Lunch

Teacher Sends Parents Letter For Packing Daughter’s Lunch:

"The effort, largely influenced by Michelle Obama, to implement strict nutritional guidelines in public schools has resulted in complaints from students, parents, and school administrators across the nation. Nevertheless, many activists believe the federal government should be responsible for determining what America’s children are permitted to eat.

That view was apparently the catalyst behind a letter one Missouri teacher sent home with a student this week. After cafeteria staff noticed the girl brought a lunch with food items they did not approve, the teacher penned the following letter for her parents."
