Democrats Are Infuriated Chuck Schumer Won’t Support Iran Deal — Take a Look at How They’re Reacting | TheBlaze.com:

"Democrats and liberal advocacy groups infuriated over New York Sen. Chuck Schumer’s Thursday announcement that he will oppose the Iran nuclear deal are openly challenging whether he is qualified to lead the party.

Schumer, the number three Democrat who is next-in-line to lead the party, announced during the GOP presidential debate that after “careful thought and considerable soul searching” he had decided to “oppose the agreement,” one of the hallmark deals of the Obama administration."

Record 93,770,000 Americans Not in Labor Force; Participation Rate Matches 38-Year Low

Record 93,770,000 Americans Not in Labor Force; Participation Rate Matches 38-Year Low
A record 93,770,000 Americans were not in the American labor force last month, and the labor force participation rate remained at 62.6 percent, exactly where it was in June -- a 38-year low, the Labor Department reported on Friday.
In 1975, when the Bureau of Labor Statistics began keeping such records, 58,627,000 Americans were not in the labor force, and the number has grown steadily since then, breaking the 80-million mark at the end of George W. Bush's presidency; and the 90-million mark in July 2013, during Barack Obama's second term.
The number of Americans not in the labor force has continued to rise since then.
-- 6,325,000  million people were employed part time for economic reasons (involuntary part-time workers) in July, These individuals, who would have preferred full-time employment, were working part-time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to find a full-time job.
-- The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was little changed at 2,180,000 in July (up from 2,121,000 in June). These individuals accounted for 26.9 percent of the unemployed.

Ben Stein: I'm Not Sure Obama Is 'In Good Mental Health'

Ben Stein: I'm Not Sure Obama Is 'In Good Mental Health' - Breitbart:
"Friday on Fox News Channel’s “Your World With Neil Cavuto,” commentator Ben Stein discussed President Barack Obama remarks from earlier in the week when he declared Iranian hardliners chanting “death to America” were “making common cause” with Republicans and questioned Obama “mental health.”
Stein said, “Mr. Obama is desperate.
I’m not sure he is well-rested or in good mental health.
The idea of comparing loyal, patriotic Americans with Mullahs and terrorists who want to destroy the United States, destroy Israel, is simply incredible.
It’s almost unbelievable.
I think Mr. Obama doesn’t understand have to have a civil discussion.
It seems to me he could have tried various arguments.
This deal is not 100 percent terrible.
He could have tried sensible arguments.
Instead he went down to the lowest level of smear tactics.”"

Parents livid after 8th graders read Ice Cube ‘pimps and hoes’ lyrics for English assignment

Parents livid after 8th graders read Ice Cube ‘pimps and hoes’ lyrics for English assignment - EAGnews.org:
FLORENCE, Ariz. – An Arizona middle school teacher was sent home after parents complained about a poetry assignment featuring profanity laced lyrics from Ice Cube’s 1990 gangsta rap “Who’s the Mack?”
“What the hell was he thinking?”
Carrie Scott, parent of an eighth-grader in the Florence Unified School District language arts class, told CBS 6.
“It was horrifying. It was a nightmare. How do you grade this? How do you grade a 13-year-old talking about sexual requests for money?”
The news site reports that an unidentified language arts teacher played the music video for “Who’s the Mack?” for students recently and sent them home with the lyrics and an assignment to identify similes, metaphors and other poetic elements.
Parent Sam Washburn called 12 News to highlight the assignment he found in his daughter’s backpack because, although words like f*** were blacked out, other offensive language and themes of prostitution, drug use, domestic violence, sex acts in the song really made him mad.
“You just kind of take for granted your 13-year-old daughter’s got curriculum at school that’s appropriate for school and come to find out that’s not the case at all,” Washburn said.
His daughter, Spencer Washburn, told the news site she completed the worksheet to avoid a bad grade, but felt violated by the assignment.
“I am in student council, and I would not want to get kicked out,” she said.
...Teachers submit lesson plans for review a week in advance, he said, and the teacher’s did not include the Ice Cube assignment.
CBS 6 did not identify the teacher, but said it was his first year in the district.
He’s now at home waiting for district officials to decide his fate...”

Short video-MUST SEE!!-----Study: Congress Literally Doesn't Care What You Think

Study: Congress Literally Doesn't Care What You Think | The Daily Sheeple:
"Professors Martin Gilens (Princeton University) and Benjamin I. Page (Northwestern University) looked at more than 20 years worth of data to answer a simple question:
Does the government represent the people?
Their study took data from nearly 2000 public opinion surveys and compared it to the policies that ended up becoming law.
In other words, they compared what the public wanted to what the government actually did.
What they found was extremely unsettling: The opinions of 90% of Americans have essentially no impact at all.
This video gives a quick rundown of their findings — it all boils down to one simple graph:

Attorneys in Freddie Gray Case Drop Bombshell Claim About Evidence They Say Was Withheld by Prosecution | TheBlaze.com:

"BALTIMORE (AP) — Attorneys for the six police officers charged in Freddie Gray’s death say prosecutors steered investigators away from allegations about Gray’s behavior in past interactions with law enforcement. The attorneys claim detectives were told Gray had a history of participating in “crash-for-cash” schemes in which people hurt themselves to collect settlements – a piece of information attorneys say would be useful for their case."

Obama and the Flippancy of Fools

Articles: Obama and the Flippancy of Fools
Over the last 7 years of the Obama era, Barack Obama and his team have regularly responded to serious questions with flippant responses.
Don’t Americans deserve better than the flippancy Obama and his top officials dish out to us?
The below compendium is just a sample (or a smidgen in Obama terminology).
When asked why his trillion-dollar stimulus produced far fewer “shovel ready jobs” than he promised to urgently promote its passage, Barack Obama laughed off the issue:
“Shovel-ready was not as shovel-ready as we expected.”
The laughter will be little solace for taxpayers on the hook to pay back the debt that financed that union-enriching boondoggle.
When asked about the risk of terrorism arising from his abandoning Iraq, he flippantly dismissed these concerns by comparing the resurgent Al Qaeda to a “Jayvee team” that “puts on Lakers uniforms… that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant.”
His flippancy -- his lack of concern and interest in dealing with Islamic terrorism -- has led to the rise of what has become the richest terror group in the world.
He routinely shows the same insouciance whenever there are murders perpetrated by Muslims.
When a man claiming allegiance to ISIS killed four Jews in a deli in Paris in January 2015, Obama dismissed the deliberate targeting of Jews since he said the attack was someone who just “randomly” shot “a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris.”
The facts: the deli was Jewish, all the victims were Jewish (non-Jewish customers and employees were spared) and the murderer had said he was targeting Jews.
They weren’t a bunch of random folks in a deli.
Barack Obama could not bring himself to join other world leaders to protest the Charlie Hebdo murders in Paris.
Did the French feel they were blessed with a consolation prize of James Taylor singing during a John Kerry visit?
Was that flippant?
Or did the French feel they were being flipped the bird?
...Barack Obama specializes in these as the below gallery will show.
Here he is, right after announcing the beheading of an American by ISIS:

Here he is at Nelson Mandela’s funeral service, taking yet another selfie:

...What is it about the deaths of others that put Obama in a jaunty mood?
...We may laugh at flippancy from a comedian but we deserve better from our nation’s leadership.

Municipal Budget Politics Playing a Role in Catholic Church’s Sudden Conversion on the False ‘Religion’ of Global Warming?

Municipal Budget Politics Playing a Role in Catholic Church’s Sudden Conversion on the False ‘Religion’ of Global Warming? | Somewhat Reasonable:
An opinion piece in today’s edition of The Wall Street Journal indicates that municipal budget politics may have something to do with the Catholic Church’s sudden acquiescence — at least in Chicago — to the Left’s global warming agenda.
Pope Francis and lame duck liberal President Barack Obama. In a piece entitled, The Religion of Climate Change, the paper notes that in 2011, then-Cardinal Francis George, the archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church in Chicago, expressed alarm, publicly, about Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s proposed phase out of a water fee exemption for the church there.
The city is, quite famously, broke, from paying generous pensions for generations of retired union workers, including teachers, police and firemen.
The new charges for water are a potential $20.3 million bill, annually, for the Church in Chicago.
Cardinal George was quoted as saying, as late as April 2013, regarding the emerging water crisis, “If you don’t want a city that only has government institutions, then you have to see to the solvency of religious institutions and other nonprofits.”
George’s successor, Archbishop Blase Cupich on July 25, toured a Catholic school with Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy.
The archbishop invited the EPA to track the power and water usage of the archdiocese. “The Archdiocese of Chicago has partnered with the EPA’s Energy Star program, as it works to make its operations more sustainable and efficient,” the pair wrote in an op-ed piece for the Chicago Sun-Times.
Since municipal budgets around the U.S. are similarly strained — look at Detroit, for example — one reasonably wonders if church leaders there are being silently pressured into an alliance with the global Left in order to keep their parishes in the black financially.
The WSJwarns about the serious threat to religious freedom here.
If the president can threaten, publicly, to “bankrupt” an industry like the coal business, it takes little imagination to guess what he and his allies have said to church leaders behind closed doors to “persuade” them to embrace the fringe “environmental justice” cause so quickly.

Amazing story... of American flair!----60 years ago: The famous Boeing 707 prototype barrel roll over Lake Washington

60 years ago: The famous Boeing 707 prototype barrel roll over Lake Washington | The Seattle Times:
"...It’s been written that Allen had contemplated firing Johnston.
A view from the Boeing 707 prototype as Tex Johnston barrel-rolled over Lake Washington on Aug. (The Boeing Company)The morning after the barrel roll, Johnston was told to go to Allen’s office, where other higher-ups also were waiting.
Allen asked, “What did you think you were doing yesterday?”
Johnston replied, “Selling the airplane.”
In his view, Johnston had a very rational explanation for the stunt, and why it was so safe.
Here is the explanation in his book, “Jet-Age Test Pilot,” although it helps to have piloting knowledge to understand it:
“The airplane does not recognize attitude, providing a maneuver is conducted at one G.
It knows only positive and negative imposed loads and variations in thrust and drag.
The barrel roll is a one G maneuver and quite impressive, but the airplane never knows it’s inverted.”
Allen mulled that over and responded, “You know that. Now we know that. But just don’t do it anymore.”"

Michael Swartz: Baltimore Homicide Spike Is the Harvest of Leftism

Michael Swartz: Baltimore Homicide Spike Is the Harvest of Leftism — The Patriot Post:
"Chicago rightfully gets headlines for being America’s most prolific murder city, but three months after Baltimore erupted in flames following the death of criminal suspect Freddie Gray, the city’s total number of homicides has set an all-time city record for a three-month timeframe.
The 116 homicides recorded in Baltimore from May through July included last month’s total of 43, which was its highest monthly toll since 1972.
...As one beleaguered city resident put it, “The ones doing the violence, the shootings — they’re eating Percocet like candy and they’re not thinking about consequences.
They have no discipline, they have no respect.
They think this is a game.
How many can I put down on the East side?
How many can I put down on the West side?”
In practically every Baltimore case, though, it was black-on-black crime that inflated the murder rate. “Black Lives Matter” has been a handy slogan for the race-baiters who descended on Baltimore, Ferguson and New York and shouted down a former mayor of Baltimore whose delusions of grandeur make him believe he’s presidential material.
But one has to ask if those lives matter enough to people in the city who refuse to relinquish their status as victims.
The answer would seem to be “no.”
Black lives seem to matter only when the race-baiters can make a show of things, not when blacks kill other blacks, or otherwise destroy their own neighborhoods...

Report: The True Reason For The FBI Probe Into Hillary's Emails Is Not What Clinton Camp Claims

Report: The True Reason For The FBI Probe Into Hillary's Emails Is Not What Clinton Camp Claims:

"As Western Journalism reported late last month — when two inspectors general asked the Justice Department to open an investigation into Hillary’s use of a private email account maintained on a personal server — The New York Times was persuaded by the Clinton campaign to change its original story.

The first report published by the Times said the request was for Justice to launch a “criminal” probe. After complaints from Hillary’s image-protection team, the “criminal” description was eliminated in favor of less provocative, more neutral language."

ASHE SCHOW: Democrats tweet sexist attack on Carly Fiorina.
For those who weren’t watching the debate, Fiorina wore a pink suit. Of all the disbelief GIFs the Democrats could have chosen, they chose one of a small blonde girl in a pink jacket?
Had this been a tweet from the Republicans about Hillary Clinton, the phrase “war on women” certainly would have been attached. It should be no difference for the Democrats.

While the Left wants to claim that every criticism or slight from a Republican is rooted in sexism, their own Twitter account compares a female Republican to a little girl. Maybe they should look in the mirror the next time they accuse a Republican of being sexist.
If it weren’t for double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all."

Obama Mocks Voter Fraud Concerns: ‘Not Happening’ | TheBlaze.com

Obama Mocks Voter Fraud Concerns: ‘Not Happening’ | TheBlaze.com:

"President Barack Obama unleashed on states that require voters to show ID, calling them deceptive attempts to disenfranchise people over a problem — voter fraud — that is “not happening.”

“Sadly, too many states are making it harder to vote and instituting voter ID laws that on the surface sound good,” Obama said at a White House event Thursday to mark the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. “If you poll the average American they’ll say yeah, I can show an ID. But in practice, it turns out that’s not always easy to do.”

Carly, watch out!!-----When McCain picked Palin, liberal journalists coordinated the best line of attack

When McCain picked Palin, liberal journalists coordinated the best line of attack | The Daily Caller:
In the hours after Sen. John McCain announced his choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate in the last presidential race, members of an online forum called Journolist struggled to make sense of the pick.
Many of them were liberal reporters, and in some cases their comments reflected a journalist’s instinct to figure out the meaning of a story.
But in many other exchanges, the Journolisters clearly had another, more partisan goal in mind: to formulate the most effective talking points in order to defeat Palin and McCain and help elect Barack Obama president.
The tone was more campaign headquarters than newsroom.
The conversation began with a debate over how best to attack Sarah Palin.
“Honestly, this pick reeks of desperation,” wrote Michael Cohen of the New America Foundation in the minutes after the news became public.
“How can anyone logically argue that Sarah Pallin [sic], a one-term governor of Alaska, is qualified to be President of the United States?
Train wreck, thy name is Sarah Pallin.”
Not a wise argument, responded Jonathan Stein, a reporter for Mother Jones.
If McCain were asked about Palin’s inexperience, he could simply point to then candidate Barack Obama’s similarly thin resume.
“Q: Sen. McCain, given Gov. Palin’s paltry experience, how is she qualified to be commander in chief?,” Stein asked hypothetically. “
A: Well, she has much experience as the Democratic nominee.”
“What a joke,” added Jeffrey Toobin of the New Yorker.
“I always thought that some part of McCain doesn’t want to be president, and this choice proves my point.  Welcome back, Admiral Stockdale.”
Daniel Levy of the Century Foundation noted that Obama’s “non-official campaign” would need to work hard to discredit Palin.
“This seems to me like an occasion when the non-official campaign has a big role to play in defining Palin, shaping the terms of the conversation and saying things that the official [Obama] campaign shouldn’t say – very hard-hitting stuff, including some of the things that people have been noting here – scare people about having this woefully inexperienced, no foreign policy/national security/right-wing christia wing-nut a heartbeat away …… bang away at McCain’s age making this unusually significant …. I think people should be replicating some of the not-so-pleasant viral email campaigns that were used against [Obama].”
Ryan Donmoyer, a reporter for Bloomberg News who was covering the campaign, sent a quick thought that Palin’s choice not to have an abortion when she unexpectedly became pregnant at age 44 would likely boost her image because it was a heartwarming story.
“Her decision to keep the Down’s baby is going to be a hugely emotional story that appeals to a vast swath of America, I think,” Donmoyer wrote.
Politico reporter Ben Adler, now an editor at Newsweek, replied, “but doesn’t leaving sad baby without its mother while she campaigns weaken that family values argument?
Or will everyone be too afraid to make that point?”

Wayne County to enter consent agreement with state to fix $52 million deficit

Wayne County to enter consent agreement with state to fix $52 million deficit - Crain's Detroit Business:
"Wayne County will enter into a consent agreement with the state of Michigan in an effort to fix a $52 million structural deficit.
County commissioners voted 12-2 Thursday to allow state Treasury officials to take an active role in the fiscal restructuring of the county, which has 1.7 million residents and Detroit as its largest city.
Past deals with Detroit and other fiscally troubled Michigan communities have included the appointment of financial advisory boards, the submission of monthly reports to the Treasury Department and the creation of revenue and spending plans.
Gov. Rick Snyder confirmed last month that a financial emergency existed in Wayne County, which faces a projected $171 million deficit by 2019 if remedial measures aren't taken.
...Detroit entered a consent agreement with the state in 2012, but was unable to consistently meet the requirements of the deal. Snyder confirmed Detroit's financial emergency in early 2013 and that March appointed turnaround specialist Kevyn Orr as emergency manager.
Orr was given control of Detroit's finances and took the city through the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.
The city emerged from Chapter 9 in December, eliminating or restructuring $7 billion in debt."

Quds Force commander Soleimani visited Moscow, met Russian leaders in defiance of sanctions

Exclusive: Quds Force commander Soleimani visited Moscow, met Russian leaders in defiance of sanctions | Fox News:
The shadowy Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani recently visited Moscow to meet with senior Russian leaders, according to two Western intelligence sources, despite a travel ban and U.N. Security Council resolutions barring him from leaving Iran.
On July 24, one week before Secretary of State John Kerry testified to the Senate Armed Services Committee and faced questions about the newly struck nuclear deal, Soleimani arrived in Moscow for meetings with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and President Vladimir Putin.
It was not immediately clear what the Iranian leader discussed, but the revelation comes as the United Nations and European Union arms embargo against Iran is slated to be lifted in five years as part of the comprehensive nuclear agreement announced July 14 from Vienna.
Soleimani was first designated a terrorist and sanctioned by the U.S. in 2005 for his role as a supporter of terrorism.
In October 2011, the U.S. Treasury Department tied Soleimani to the failed Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States at a popular restaurant in Washington, D.C.
The Quds Force is the special forces external wing of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, responsible for supporting terrorist proxies across the Middle East. It reports directly to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Soleimani is increasingly being recognized as a key player and point person as Iranian influence in the region grows, despite assurances from Kerry and others that Soleimani and the Quds Force will continue to face sanctions from the U.S. Treasury after U.N. sanctions are lifted against Soleimani as part of the nuclear deal.
Soleimani arrived in Moscow on Air Iran flight #5130, a commercial flight from Tehran, at 6:50 a.m. on July 24, a Friday.
He left Moscow the following Sunday, July 26, at 10:25 p.m. on flight #5120, according to Western intelligence sources.
U.N. sanctions have not yet been lifted against Iran, and Soleimani, as head of the Iranian Quds Force is sanctioned as part of Security Council Resolution 1747.
He is prohibited to travel, and any country that lets him transit or travel is defying the sanctions. (Russia is a permanent member of the Security Council and would have been aware of this restriction when meeting with him.)
Soleimani has been photographed during recent battles against the Islamic State in Iraq leading troops and advising Iranian backed Shia militias, most notably in the battle for Tikrit in March.

Defusing The Student Loan Forgiveness Tax Bomb

TaxProf Blog:
Following up on my previous post, The 'Tax Bomb' Facing Lawyers Who Enroll In Income-Based Student Loan Repayment Plans:
Steven Chung (Lawyerist), Defusing the Student Loan Forgiveness Tax Bomb:
For those who are struggling to repay their federal student loans, there are alternative repayment plans available.
The programs are known as Income Based Repayment (IBR) and Pay As You Earn (PAYE).
These plans lower borrowers’ monthly student loan payments based on a percentage of their monthly income.
If they stay on these plans for twenty to twenty-five years, then any balances remaining are forgiven.
While these plans sound tempting, there are caveats.
First, these plans are not available for private loans, which includes companies like SoFi. Second, Lawyerist writer Lisa Needham warned that income-based student loan repayment plans are a trap. According to Jacob Gershman’s article in the Wall Street Journal, some will have to get ready for a hefty tax bomb once their federal student loans are forgiven starting in 2032.
The Treasury Department ruled that any federal student loans forgiven under the IBR or PAYE programs are considered taxable cancellation of debt (COD) income and must be reported on the borrower’s income tax return.
However, if the taxpayer can show that he is insolvent, then he can reduce or eliminate COD income depending on the amount of his insolvency.
Forgiven student loan debt is not taxable to those who complete the ten year Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
This article will explain how the insolvency exception works and provide some strategies to defuse the tax bomb.

Chris Matthews left speechless after run-in with Carly Fiorina

Chris Matthews left speechless after run-in with Carly Fiorina | Washington Examiner:
MSNBC's Chris Matthews was at a loss for words Thursday after pressing 2016 Republican candidate Carly Fiorina to explain why she thinks Hillary Clinton is a "liar."
As it turns out, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO is not only quick on her feet, but she is apparently able to render one of the loudest cable personalities speechless.
"You called Hillary Clinton a liar tonight on a number of occasions," Matthews said, referring to a GOP primary debate in which Fiorina had just participated.
"Do you want to explain why you would use such a — almost end of conversation term for your possible opponent next year?" he asked.
"Because it's true," she replied simply.
"One of the things people are tired of in politics — and Republicans do it as well — is we don't use common sense language. We talk in sanitized sound bites. I don't, but most politicians do."
"People are tired of sanitized sound bites and bumper sticker rhetoric. They want to have a conversation about the real issues," she added.
"And by any standard, common sense measure, Hillary Clinton has lied: About Benghazi and about her emails and about her server."
Matthews was unsatisfied.
"How do you debate someone if it comes to that?" he asked.
"Do you really think that's a way to engage in a debate? To call your opponent a liar? I'm astounded by that judgment of yours."
Fiorina pushed back, noting that she was very specific about the subjects where she thinks Clinton has lied.
Fiorina claimed she never said Clinton lied "about everything."
"You are the one who has made a generalized comment about her. Not me," she told Matthews.
Fiorina continued, launching into a detailed and thorough takedown of Clinton's tenure at the State Department, including her handling of the events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, as well as her disastrous "reset" with Russia.
Matthews was momentarily speechless.
"I see why you stood out tonight," he eventually said, bringing the interview to a close.
