Criminal liars!!!-----150 Days: Treasury Says Debt Has Been Frozen at $18,112,975,000,000

150 Days: Treasury Says Debt Has Been Frozen at $18,112,975,000,000
(CNSNews.com) - The portion of the federal debt that is subject to a legal limit set by Congress closed Monday, August 10, at $18,112,975,000,000, according to the latest Daily Treasury Statement, which was published at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
That, according to the Treasury's statements, makes 150 straight days the debt subject to the limit has been frozen at $18,112,975,000,000.
$18,112,975,000,000 is about $25 million below the current legal debt limit of $18,113,000,080,959.35.
On July 30, Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew sent a letter to the leaders of Congress informing them that he was extending a “debt issuance suspension period” through October 30.
In practice, that means that unless Congress enacts new legislation to increase the limit on the federal debt before then, the Treasury will continue for at least the next eleven weeks to issue Daily Treasury Statements that show the federal debt subject to the limit beginning and ending each day frozen just below that limit.
...In his March 13 letter, Lew explained some steps the Treasury would take during the debt issuance suspension period.
“Because Congress has not yet acted to raise the debt limit,” Lew said in that letter, “the Treasury Department will have to employ further extraordinary measures to continue to finance the government on a temporary basis.
Therefore, beginning on March 16, I plan to declare a ‘debt issuance suspension period’ with respect to investment of the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund and also suspend the daily reinvestment of Treasury securities held by the Government Securities Investment Fund and the Federal Employees’ Retirement System Thrift Savings Plan.”...

Report: Kim Jong Un executes N. Korea's vice premier

Report: Kim Jong Un executes N. Korea's vice premier:

"If confirmed, Choe's killing will be the latest in a series of executions said to have been ordered by the young leader since he took power in late 2011. The Associated Press reported last month that Kim had so far ordered the execution of about 70 officials "in a reign of terror" — far more than his late father Kim Jong Il, who executed about 10 people in his first years in power.

In May, a report emerged that Hyon Yong-chol, North Korea's defense minister, had apparently been executed, possibly with an anti-aircraft gun, in front of hundreds of people at a military school in the capital of Pyongyang for disloyalty to Kim.

In December 2013, Kim's uncle Jang Song Thaek — once considered North Korea's second most powerful man — was executed for alleged treason. Reports followed the next month that all direct relatives of Jang, who was married to Kim Jong Il's sister, had also been put to death."

U.S. Taxpayers Still Subsidizing Bloated Welfare States | Cato @ Liberty

U.S. Taxpayers Still Subsidizing Bloated Welfare States | Cato @ Liberty
Last month, the British government announced plans to spend two percent of GDP on defense through 2020, meeting the NATO mandated level.
This comes after months of nudging from the Obama administration that feared “if Britain doesn’t spend 2 percent on defense, then no one in Europe will.”
The reasoning is bizarre given that few nations were meeting this spending threshold to begin with. As I wrote in June:
In 2014, only Greece, Estonia, the U.S. and the U.K. spent as much as 2 percent of GDP on defense. Excepting NATO member Iceland, which is exempted from the spending mandates, the 23 other NATO members failed to spend even two cents of every dollar to defend themselves from foreign threats. And Greece only met the 2 percent threshold because their economy is falling faster than their military spending.
Perhaps things are shifting a bit among the NATO nations. Fear of Russia has prompted some members to announce increases to their defense spending.
Germany, which currently spends only 1.2 percent of its GDP on defense, pledged to increase its defense budget by 6.4 percent over the next five years.
Latvia and Lithuania will also increase their defense spending, reaching two percent of GDP by 2018 and 2020, respectively.
It’s comforting to hear some Europeans talking about taking their security more seriously, but whether they will follow through remains to be seen.
Either way, they will remain heavily subsidized by the United States for some time.
Cato’s latest infographic demonstrates just how far ahead the United States is in all measures of defense spending, and also documents how American security guarantees allow European governments to devote a far larger share of their spending to dubious domestic priorities.
Put simply, U.S. taxpayers are subsidizing Europe’s bloated welfare states.
NATO
...The free ride could come to an end if Washington signaled that it wanted it to.
Alas, U.S. officials have been sending the opposite message.
...Washington should stop deploying the U.S. military in ways that discourage these other countries from doing more.
It is unreasonable to expect U.S. taxpayers to shoulder these burdens indefinitely.

David McCullough on What's Wrong with History Education Today

David McCullough on What's Wrong with History Education Today | Intellectual Takeout:
...In an interview conducted by the Wall Street Journal in 2011, McCullough had some very interesting critiques of modern history education, which I share below.
Regarding the historical knowledge of youth today:
“I know how much these young people—even at the most esteemed institutions of higher learning—don't know.”
On the prevalent method of teaching history:
“History is often taught in categories—women's history, African American history, environmental history—so that many of the students have no sense of chronology. They have no idea what followed what.”
On the content of contemporary history textbooks:
“[They are] so politically correct as to be comic. Very minor characters that are currently fashionable are given considerable space, whereas people of major consequence farther back are given very little space or none at all.”
On where to lay the blame:
“It's our fault. I mean the parents and grandparents of the oncoming generation. We have to talk about history, talk about the books we love, the biographies and histories. We should all take our children to historic places. Go to Gettysburg. Go to the Capitol.”
On pedagogy:
“If I were teaching a class, I would tell my students, 'I want you to do a documentary on the building at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. Or I want to you to interview Farmer Jones or former sergeant Fred or whatever’… I have been feeling increasingly that history ought to be understood and taught to be considerably more than just politics and the military…
I'd take one of those textbooks. I'd clip off all the numbers on the pages. I'd pull out three pages here, two pages there, five pages here—all the way through. I'd put them aside, mix them all up, and give them to you and three other students and say, 'Put it back in order and tell me what's missing'…
Grade school children, as we all know, can learn a foreign language in a flash. They can learn anything in a flash. The brain at that stage in life is like a sponge. And one of the ways they get it is through art: drawing, making things out of clay, constructing models, and dramatic productions. If you play the part of Abigail Adams or Johnny Appleseed in a fourth-grade play, you're never going to forget it as long as you live.”

Smoke and Mirrors: The Truth About US Unemployment

Smoke and Mirrors: The Truth About US Unemployment | Somewhat Reasonable:
"...Obama’s use of the unemployment rate as a weapon to inflict political damage on Republicans is nothing new.
For most of Obama’s presidency, he’s been touting his economic policies and how successful they have allegedly been at reducing unemployment rates (when in fact all recession recoveries reduce unemployment rates), all the while intentionally misleading people about what the unemployment rate actually represents.
Contrary to the popular impression, the unemployment rate is not the percentage of the population looking for work.
The unemployment rate is simply the percentage of a state or nation’s economy that isn’t employed and doesn’t fall into one of a number of excluded categories.
A person who has “given up” looking for work, for instance, is not considered “unemployed” by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, even if that person is still interested in getting a job.
Individuals who retire early because they can’t find a good job are also excluded.
In addition, state unemployment figures can be quite confusing at times because people who leave the state because they can’t find work are not counted as “unemployed.”
In short, unemployment rates often change in large part because the labor force pool grows or shrinks, not because of actual economic growth. .."

Russia and NATO 'actively preparing for war'

Russia and NATO 'actively preparing for war' - Telegraph
Russia and NATO are actively preparing for war with one another amid the greatest build up of military tension in Europe since the end of the Cold War, a new report says.
Rival exercises by the Russian armed forces and NATO have led to several near-miss incidents that could result in confrontation between the two sides, and leaders need to consider a new arms control treaty to avert the possibility of heightened tensions spilling into war.
The report by the European Leadership Network, a think tank, comes amid the most intense fighting for six months in eastern Ukraine and as Michael Fallon, the defence minister, pledged to expand a British army training mission to Ukraine.
“We do not suggest that the leadership of either side has made a decision to go to war or that a military conflict between the two is inevitable, but that the changed profile of exercises is a fact and it does play a role in sustaining the current climate of tensions in Europe,” the authors write.
The report outlines how both NATO and Russia have primed their forces to respond to an escalation since the Ukraine crisis erupted in early 2014..."

"WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI has taken possession of thumb drives containing Hillary Clinton’s emails, some of which have been deemed to contain highly sensitive classified information, according to a U.S. official briefed on the matter.

The official was not authorized to be quoted publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Clinton’s lawyer, David Kendall, turned over the emails after the FBI determined that he could not remain in possession of the classified information, the official said. The State Department previously had said it was comfortable with Kendall keeping the emails at his Washington law office."

Election fraud!!!-----Lois Lerner’s IRS Granted Only ONE Conservative Group Non-Profit Status in Three Years

Lois Lerner’s IRS Granted Only ONE Conservative Group Non-Profit Status in Three Years | Americans for Tax Reform:
"Lois Lerner’s political beliefs led to tea party and conservative groups receiving disparate and unfair treatment when applying for non-profit status, according to a detailed report compiled by the Senate Finance Committee.
Because of Lerner’s bias, only one conservative political advocacy organization was granted tax exempt status over a period of more than three years:
...As the report notes, Lois Lerner became aware in April or May of 2010 that the IRS Exempt Organizations (EO) division had begun receiving a high number of applications from Tea Party organizations.
But as the backlog of applicants increased, Lerner added “more layers of review and raised hurdles for applicants to clear.”
...In contrast, progressive or non-affiliated applicants faced a timely review process.
Indeed, the IRS was willing and able to quickly approve high profile non-tea party applicants:
“Although applications from the Tea Party and conservative organizations languished at the IRS, this was not the case for all groups that applied.
In cases where the IRS wanted to act quickly, it did – particularly for other high-profile applications that attracted political attention.”"

LIBERTY REVIEW:

The Cheese

By Tammy Derouin

In this transformed world we live in, a political campaign can successfully convince a major newspaper to change a headline to suit the needs of their political agenda. The media sides with corruption rather than exposing it.  The media accepts snide, sarcastic comments from those who are in office, should they have the courage to ask questions which deviate from the party line.  Instead of jumping all over the person in power for not answering or belittling a question, the party minions in the press, attack their own or distance themselves.

This kind of turn-coat behavior has paralyzed the American people.  Watching the mainstream evening news or most mainstream news programs in general, no longer fulfills the requirement of staying informed.  Instead, they have become a party tool to deceive the American people.  We trusted our news sources for so long; it’s difficult to see how much they have turned against us, the U.S.

We have been drip-fed so much anti-American propaganda.  Over time, we began to believe and accept that the American way is wrong.  We have accepted that we are powerless and are incapable of controlling our future.  We no longer sniff out corruption.  We don’t jump over walls or dig tunnels to find the real story.  Instead, we have accepted the cheese and the shackles which come with it.  We are being led by the nose.  When something of interest is dangled in front of us, we blindly follow.  The cheese looks so promising. There must be a Utopian world of cheese.  Don’t pay any attention to the traps being placed all around you.  Keep your eyes on the cheese...

"It’s never a good thing for a presidential candidate when the Federal Bureau of Investigation begins to nose around highly questionable activities that politician has been involved in. So, it can’t be a good thing for Hillary Clinton’s political aspirations that the FBI is now investigating the security of Clinton’s private email server on which she kept her official communications while serving as Barack Obama’s secretary of state.

The Washington Post first reported that the technology company that helped to manage Hillary’s server system as well as Clinton’s lawyer have both been contacted by the FBI. The Bureau is reportedly looking into whether the system used by the then-secretary of state was safe and secure from hacking."

Saudi Cleric Issues Fatwa Against All-You-Can-Eat Buffets

Saudi Cleric Issues Fatwa Against All-You-Can-Eat Buffets
A Saudi cleric named Saleh al-Fawzan has issued fatwa against all-you-can-eat buffets in Saudi Arabia.
He made the statement on a Saudi Quranic TV station.
Fawzan said the value and quantity of the food sold should be pre-determined before hand.
"Whoever enters the buffet and eats for 10 or 50 riyals without deciding the quantity they will eat is violating Sharia (Islamic) law," Fawzan was quoted on al-Atheer channel.
The fatwa attempts to add plate piling eateries to the long list of things outlawed by religious edicts.
It has been the subject of condemnation and debate on social media channels.
While some twitter users slammed the cleric's fatwa by using the hashtag "prohibiting-open-buffet" (in Arabic) others tweeted supporting it..."

12 Signs That An Imminent Global Financial Crash Has Become Even More Likely

12 Signs That An Imminent Global Financial Crash Has Become Even More Likely

  • #1 The devaluation of the yuan on Tuesday took virtually the entire planet by surprise (and not in a good way).
  • #2 One of the big reasons why China devalued the yuan was to try to boost exports.

China’s exports declined 8.3 percent in July, and global trade overall is falling at a pace that we haven’t seen since the last recession.

  • #5 The price of oil just closed at a brand new six year low.

When the price of oil started to decline back in late 2014, a whole lot of people were proclaiming that this would be a good thing for the U.S. economy.
Now we can see just how wrong they were.
At this point, the price of oil has already fallen to a level that is going to be absolutely nightmarish for the global economy if it stays here.
Just consider what Jeff Gundlach had to say about this in December…
And back in December 2014, “Bond King” Jeff Gundlach had a serious warning for the world if oil prices got to $40 a barrel.
“I hope it does not go to $40,” Gundlach said in a presentation, “because then something is very, very wrong with the world, not just the economy.
The geopolitical consequences could be — to put it bluntly — terrifying.”

  • #8 The South American debt crisis of 2015 continues to intensify.  Brazil’s government bonds have been downgraded to just one level above junk status, and the approval rating of Brazil’s president has fallen into the single digits.

Neighbors Surround Home of Veteran to Stop Feds from Taking His Guns! - Eagle Rising:

"This does happen sometimes, where the VA sends out a letter," said Bryan Hult, veteran services officer for Bonner County. "Especially if a veteran has dementia ... and a fiduciary has to be appointed to manage finances like a pension and income. You wouldn't want that person to be in possession of a gun."

But the problem is that the Constitution does not provide the federal government such authority. What does Mr. Hult not understand about "…shall not be infringed"? It isn't rocket science.

Republican U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), instead of pressing the teeth of the Second Amendment into the necks of the bureaucrats attempting to usurp it, proposed legislation that would require court action before barring gun purchases by veterans declared incompetent. We don't need more laws Senator Cornyn. We need faithful men to uphold the law.

The people of the community should be applauded."

Climate Change: The Hoax That Costs Us $4 Billion a Day

Climate Change: The Hoax That Costs Us $4 Billion a Day:

“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it!” Upton Sinclair.

The global climate change industry is worth an annual $1.5 trillion, according to Climate Change Business Journal.
That’s the equivalent of $4 billion a day spent on vital stuff like carbon trading, biofuels, and wind turbines.
Or — as Jo Nova notes — it’s the same amount the world spends every year on online shopping.
But there’s a subtle difference between these two industries — the global warming one and the online shopping one.
Can you guess what it is?
Well, it’s like this.
When you go to, say, Charles Tyrwhitt to buy a nice, smart shirt, or Amazon to buy the box set of Game of Thrones, or Krazykrazysextoy.com to replace your girlfriend’s worn out rabbit, no one is holding a gun to your head.
You are buying these things of your own free volition either for yourself or for someone you love.
You have paid for them, out of your own money, because you have made the calculation that they will make your life that little bit better.
Better than it would, say, if you’d kept the money in your bank account or spent it on something less desirable — a novelty dog poo ornament, say, or a handknitted sweater with Jimmy Savile’s face on it and “I HEART paedos” picked out in gold lamé lettering.
When, on the other hand, you buy stuff from the climate change industry, you have no choice in the matter whatsoever.
It’s already priced into your taxes, your electricity bills, the cost of your petrol, the cost of your airfare, the cost of every product you buy and every service you use.
It is utterly inescapable, this expenditure.
Yet unlike your online shopping — which, remember, costs roughly the same as you spend each year on the climate change industry — you get precisely nothing in return.
No, it’s worse than that.
 You get less than nothing.
You get stuff forced on you that you really don’t want:

  • bat-chomping, bird-slicing eco-crucifixes looming on your horizon, keeping you awake, trashing  your property values;
  • fields of solar panels where they used to grow wheat or you used to walk your dog;
  • prissy missives from your local council expecting you to be grateful for the fact that now you’ve got to separate your trash into seven different recycling bags rather than the previous five, and that they’re only going to collect your rubbish once a fortnight instead of once a week;
  • teachers filling your kids’ heads with junk science propaganda;
  • free parking slots for electric cars you don’t own but which you subsidise for richer friends who do;
  • feel-bad nature documentaries about how it’s all your fault that this stuff “may” soon disappear; energy-saving lightbulbs that take your nocturnal home back to the kind of sepulchral gloom Western civilisation thought it had bade farewell to in the 1890s;
  • the Prius, the car which recalls the style and comfort of the cars the fall of the Berlin Wall was supposed to have ended;
  • yawning gaps where used to grow the woods which have been chopped down and chipped to create biomass for burning in power stations which used to run more cheaply and efficiently on coal…
