Tennessee lawmakers tell UT to get a grip on reality - The College Fix:
Tennessee lawmakers are pretty much sick and tired of the politically correct BS coming out of the University of Tennessee.
It was bad enough that administrators dropped its long-used and beloved nickname “Lady Vols” from all women’s sports teams except basketball, a controversial decision that prompted backlash and a fiery protest petition with 23,000 signatures.
Its annual and highly gratuitous Sex Week events, with names such as “Getting Laid,” “Sex Positivity: Queer as a Verb,” “Bow Chicka Bow Woah” and “How Many Licks Does It Take,” also did not impress the state legislature.
But this latest announcement asking students to call each other by made up gender-neutral pronouns like “ze, xe, xyr, zirs” has put many lawmakers over the edge – and regents under the spotlight.
“Two state Senate panels will hold a joint a hearing next month on higher education governance that includes a review of a post about ‘gender neutral’ pronouns at the University of Tennessee’s Knoxville campus,” the Times Free Press reports.
“…Asked Thursday what the Senate panels’ examination of higher education governance involved, [Darlene Schlicher, a Senate Republican spokeswoman] said it will focus on the roles of the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, the University of Tennessee and the State Board of Regents’ systems.”
Underscoring that, a letter by Republican state Rep. Susan Lynn signed by 31 additional lawmakers condemns the gender-neutral pronoun suggestion as a waste of time and taxpayer money, the Lebanon Democrat reports.
“Lynn was influential in getting the university to de-fund Sex Week, and she recently joined with legislators on another letter to the University of Tennessee to protest the name change of the Lady Vols,” it added.

- Remind them that the only thing Hitler would have gotten out of World War II is a participation trophy. But even he had the good sense to kill himself before it was offered.
- Let them know that nothing great has ever been built by just participating. And, then, if they build a really cool fort or something out of nothing but participation trophies to prove you wrong, knock it down.
- Ask the coach who gave your child the trophy to explain to him or her that she was given the award only because of the PC, libtardization of America has caused everyone to be celebrated for everything, even failures like your child, and that she should actually be ashamed to get the trophy, not proud.
Pay to play....criminals!!!-----Fired regulator: Brown pushed to waive oil safeguards.
My Way News - Fired regulator: Brown pushed to waive oil safeguards.:
"SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — California's top oil and gas regulators repeatedly warned Gov. Jerry Brown's senior aides in 2011 that the governor's orders to override key safeguards in granting oil industry permits would violate state and federal laws protecting the state's groundwater from contamination, one of the former officials has testified.
Brown fired the regulators on Nov. 3, 2011, one day after what the fired official says was a final order from the governor to bypass safety provisions of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act in granting permits to oil companies for oilfield injection wells.
Brown later boasted publicly that the dismissals led to a speed-up of oilfield permitting.
...This year, however, the state acknowledged that hundreds of the oilfield operations approved after the firings are now polluting the state's federally protected underground supplies of water for drinking and irrigation.
...an Aug. 21 court filing in a lawsuit brought by a group of Central Valley farmers who allege that oil production approved by Brown's administration has contaminated their water wells.
The lawsuit also cites at least $750,000 in contributions that oil companies made within months of the firings to what was then Brown's campaign for a state tax increase.
...Over the years, Brown openly boasted that he dismissed the two regulators to speed up the granting of oilfield permits in the nation's third biggest oil producing state.
His actions appeared at odds with Brown's image as a leading proponent of renewable energy and reduced fossil fuel consumption who recently met with Pope Francis on climate change"

Most of what passes for news today is little more than an official sounding advertisement for a product, service, or belief.

What "leaders" are teaching our children-----UC Irvine Student Government Leader: American Flag Represents Hate Speech
UC Irvine Student Government Leader: American Flag Represents Hate Speech - Breitbart:
"In an interview posted on FoxNews.com, political satirist Ami Horowitz interviewed UC Irvine student Matthew Guevara.
Guevara explained his resolution, which banned the American flag in some spaces on campus and declared it to represent “hate speech.”
“[The American flag] made people feel very uncomfortable and unsafe in that room,” Guevara said.
Guevara’s resolution passed by a 6-to-4 vote back in March.
In the interview, he explained what prompted him to promote such a resolution.
“It was creating a very hostile environment just because of this flag being in the room,” he continued. “It doesn’t make people feel welcome at all to where people wouldn’t go in the space anymore because it was on the wall.”
Horowitz proposed to Guevara that there was a “legitimate view” that the flag represents hate speech.
“Yeah, exactly,” Guevara replied. “It’s a tool to silence people.”
He went on to say he would have been as equally uncomfortable with the Nazi or ISIS flag hanging in the room as he was the American flag, adding that the United States is the most evil in the world.
Guevara went on to offer his thoughts on other issues, including racism in the United States and said blacks were still enslaved in this country."

PC eating its own-----After ‘Ready for Hillary’ image prompts anger, UMich deletes it off Facebook
After ‘Ready for Hillary’ image prompts anger, UMich deletes it off Facebook - The College Fix:
"Not everyone at the University of Michigan is ‘Ready for Hillary,’ apparently
After a University of Michigan Facebook post depicting a student with a “Ready for Hillary” sticker on her laptop prompted anger by commentators it was quickly deleted off the social media site.
The Wednesday post was part of a new #WolverinesofAnnArbor campaign, and it included a nonpolitical statement from the female student writing about her college experiences and the pros and cons of studying abroad in London over the summer.
“Ready for Hillary” is a popular slogan supporting the embattled Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The prominently displayed bumper sticker apparently prompted comments accusing the post of being intentional product placement and a political endorsement.
It’s unclear what those comments said specifically, as no known screenshot of the post was taken before it was deleted.
But the university, after deleting the post, released a statement that cited “the tone of the comments displayed in response to today’s #WolverinesofAnnArbor post” as part of the reason for its erasure.
...Some scoffed at how the university handled the situation.
“It’s ironic that you’re reminding the audience of your community guidelines rather than following the rules that U-M is a public university with no connection to any political party,” one commenter posted on University of Michigan’s Facebook page.
“Follow the guidelines of a public university and do not post pictures with a ‘hidden’ political message.”
“It was most obviously the intent of the post to endorse Hillary Clinton,” another poster wrote.
“The photograph was taken in such a way that the sticker was the focus, not the student.”
Stated another: “Are we not allowed then to have differing views than the one shown in the picture of reference? Do you really support diversity? Or is it as long as it agrees with your views of diversity?...”

Ben Carson Surges to No. 2 Spot in Latest Polls:
"Ben Carson's surge to No. 2 in the polls, fatter donations and big campaign-trail crowds are being touted by supporters as proof the GOP presidential contender is a serious in-it-to-win-it threat to win the nomination.
"The press has never taken him seriously," former campaign manager and current super PAC fundraising coordinator Terry Giles tells The Hill.
"Even up until three days ago, they'd talk about everyone but him. Now they have no choice but to talk about him."
