Team Hillary Scoffed At FBI Investigation | The Daily Caller:
Now that Hillary Clinton’s email server technician is cooperating with the FBI in its investigation into the mishandling of classified information, it’s worth taking a look back at all the times that the candidate and her surrogates have downplayed the probe or outright laughed at it.
The FBI seized control of Clinton’s server in August, just after the intelligence community’s inspector general flagged “Top Secret” emails that traversed the device.
Clinton housed the server at her New York residence during her State Department tenure.
She hired Bryan Pagliano, a staffer on her 2008 presidential campaign, to manage the system.
She even got him at a job at the State Department as an information technology specialist.
Sometime late last year Pagliano began cooperating with FBI investigators in exchange for immunity.
That suggests the possibility that criminal charges are on the table for Clinton or some of her State Department aides who sent her classified information that landed on the server.
But Clinton and her supporters have downplayed the FBI’s investigation — which the candidate has called a “security review.”
Clinton herself has, at times, even attempted to laugh off questions about her email habits and the ongoing inquiry.

‘It Was Upsetting’: Glenn Beck, Mark Levin Slam ‘Despicable’ Fox News Debate | TheBlaze.com:
"Levin blamed the billionaire businessman and Fox News for the nature of the debate, arguing that Trump has “brought down the level of this discussion.”
“Somebody needs to cool it, and you would think the moderators might play that role but the moderators don’t play that role,” Levin argued. “They encourage it.”
“Yeah, because they like the ratings,” Beck said in agreement. “It’s a great showing.”

March Madness in America, baby!-----The Wildest Basketball Game In The History Of Basketball Went Down Last Night At A Minnesota High School
The Wildest Basketball Game In The History Of Basketball Went Down Last Night At A Minnesota High School - Barstool Sports:
Southern Minn – It was the greatest game ever played.
At least Bluejays’ fans might believe that.
With all due respect to the 1958 NFL Championship Game, Waseca and Marshall’s Section 2AAA title game Thursday, earned the moniker.
Not one, not two, but three buzzer beaters.
Four overtimes.
Clutch free throws and missed free throws.
The likeliest of heroes and perhaps the unlikeliest.
There are only so many ways to describe the bananas-type of game it was.
And somehow, through the highest of highs, and lowest of lows, Waseca came out on top 103-100 because of a running, leaning 3-pointer from Cole Streich.
I don’t care what college or pro game you were watching last night.
Nothing topped Waseca High School and Marshall High School squaring off for the Minnesota Section 2AAA boys basketball championship and a trip to the state playoffs on the line.
The most bonkers series of plays and crazy ass shots..."

And we think the Flint water crisis is bad-----Mosul dam engineers warn it could fail at any time, killing 1 million people
Mosul dam engineers warn it could fail at any time, killing 1 million people:
A tragedy is just waiting to happen in one of the largest cities in the Middle East, engineers warn.
The Iraqis who built the dam structure for the Mosul dam warn that the structure is “increasingly precarious” and threatens to kill 1 million people.
They also said the government’s answer has been ridiculous.
The Mosul Dam is the largest dam in Iraq, providing electricity for the 1.7 million residents of Mosul. However, it has a long record of instability.
Built in an unstable geological setting, the earthen embankment dam is located on top of gypsum, a soft mineral which dissolves in contact with water – a recipe for disaster.
Leaks began right after the dam was built in 1986, with 24 machines continuously pumping grout into the dam base.
More than than 50,000 tonnes of material have been injected, but did little to stabilize the structure.
A September 2006 report by the United States Army Corps of Engineers noted, “In terms of internal erosion potential of the foundation, Mosul Dam is the most dangerous dam in the world.”
Now, the engineers responsible for building the structure in the first place warn that the situation is reaching critical levels, after winter snows melted and more water flowed into the reservoir, raising pressure.
After the city was more or less under the control of the Islamic State, the injection machinery wasn’t operated anymore and the maintenance crew was dissolved.
The government was slow in reacting, and while negotiations with an Italian construction firm for carrying out urgent repairs is being discussed, no agreement has been reached.
Nasrat Adamo, the dam’s former chief engineer who spent most of his professional career patching the fundamental flaws of the dam said that the situation has been disastrous after ISIS..."

Popular Drugs Linked To Dementia Even At Low Dosage:
"A new study out of the University of Washington provides the strong evidence that certain popular drugs may increase the risk for dementia in older adults.
The drugs share some common mechanisms within key areas of the brain, but are used primarily as ingredients in over-the-counter sleep, cough and cold, and allergy medicines as well as in the treatment of an overactive bladder and depression.
Drugs and Dementia
The most commonly used drug linked to dementia was diphenhydramine, which is used in many popular products such as Benadryl, Nytol Sominex, Theraflu, Triaminic Allergy, plus many others.
Also implicated where drugs containing chlorpheniramine (Aller-Chlor); oxybutynin (Ditropan) and tolterodine (Detrol) for overactive bladder; and the tricyclic antidepressants, such as doxepin or amitriptyline..."

Bill de Blasio Says Face-Slashing Epidemic Probably a Result of NYPD Gun Seizures
Mayor Bill de Blasio tried to put a positive spin on the 20-plus knife and razor attacks that have wracked New York City since last November—suggesting that people are turning to cutting weapons because the NYPD has been so successful confiscating their guns.
Speaking at an unrelated event in Manhattan, the liberal mayor praised his police force for bringing down the overall violent crime rate and netting numerous illegal firearms, and argued the spike in slashings might be an unintended consequence of those efforts.
A Bronx Dunkin’ Donuts owner became the latest New Yorker to take a blade to the face yesterday, after a homeless man she had ejected from her business earlier returned seeking revenge.
“Increasingly, they are getting at the supply of guns,” Mr. de Blasio said, noting shootings are down, and attributing the success to the Gun Violence Suppression Unit.
“I’m not a criminologist, but I can safely say that guns are being taking off the street in an unprecedented way.
Some people, unfortunately, are turning to a different weapon...”

To use another analogy, in the movie Dr. Zhivago* there is a scene where the young doctor looks through the lens of his microscope at a squirming bacteria and remarks to his mentor on how beautiful the bacteria is.
“Beautiful things can do terrible things to people.”
The older doctor’s warning applied both to Zhivago’s love interest and to the rising socialist sentiment in Moscow.

The ugly truth behind those “cute baby bird” Internet memes
The ugly truth behind those “cute baby bird” Internet memes | Ars Technica
Everybody loves a cute picture of a baby bird, which is why the Internet is packed with shots of these tiny balls of fluff, watched over by their adoring parents. Nature's reality, however, is a lot less adorable. Many wading birds—including egrets, herons, and storks—actually feed their babies to local alligators in exchange for protection from other predators.
A new study published in PLoS One explores the complicated relationship between colonies of wading birds and alligators in the Florida Everglades. Environmental scientists have known for a long time that birds and alligators thrive in part thanks to a mutually beneficial arrangement that's called "facilitation." The birds choose to nest in trees right at the center of dangerous alligator territories--and it's out of a sense of self-preservation. Their nests are out of chomping range, which means the local alligators focus on killing the raccoons and possums that would normally eat birds' eggs. Alligators keep the birds' nests safe from predators.
Rarely did anyone wonder what alligators got out of this deal. They can get raccoons anywhere, so why stick around bird colonies? Answering that question is the focus of this new study.
It turns out that there are two immediate benefits for alligators. One is an indirect benefit, because bird guano is full of nutrients which can make the region more attractive for marine life generally—and that can mean more tasty treats for the gators. The other is a direct benefit. Most wading birds tend to spawn far more chicks than they can fit in one nest. So adult birds toss extra chicks out into the swampy waters below for the alligators to enjoy. When you've got an entire egret colony, that's a lot of chicks.
By placing cameras near birds' nests in swamps (see below), the researchers found that alligators frequently hang out directly under the nests within chick-catching range, clearly hoping for the adults to toss them a snack.
Sympathy for the alligator
The facilitation between birds and alligators is clearly a two-way street, but that raises the question of whether alligators who team up with wading birds are actually better survivors than those who don't. Do alligators get enough chicks out of the bargain that they are actually more fit to reproduce?
According to the researchers, the answer is yes. They found this out the hard way, catching and releasing alligators by hand in the Florida Everglades.
In a section of their article delightfully called “alligator sampling,” the researchers explain that they conducted their research near the semi-submerged islands where wading birds nest in freshwater swamps. During several summer nights in June of 2013 and 2014, they captured and examined 39 female alligators—20 from areas where they lived in facilitative relationships with egret and heron colonies and 19 from areas where they didn’t.
By measuring the alligators’ mass relative to their length, the researchers determined that alligators who lived near wading bird colonies were healthier, with higher relative body mass. Their body masses were similar to those of alligators who choose to reproduce. The alligators who weren't in facilitative relationships were less likely to have a body mass that would make them want to breed.
The researchers write:
The magnitude of benefits demonstrated here indicates that for alligators there should be selective pressure toward behaviors that enhance the benefits they derive from this association. We hypothesize that alligators are attracted to and, given their territorial behavior, may even compete for territories that include wading bird colonies.
Birds are, they add, are creating "localized nutritional subsidies" for the Florida alligators.
In the end, alligators are getting roughly the same benefit from the facilitation arrangement that the birds are. Alligators protect the bird eggs from raccoons; and the birds toss the alligators enough extra protein that they grow to breeding size more often than their counterparts. Seems like a nice arrangement, unless you happen to be one of those chicks who is too close to the edge of the nest

Carpenter Makes The Most INTRICATE Radial But When You See It... - World War Wings:
How Long Did That Even Take?
We’re having a hard time discerning what’s more impressive; the original design of a radial engine or a lone carpenter who made his own WORKING replica of one.
By working we mean that when he turns the shaft, all the gears and cylinders work to show you exactly what’s going on inside.
This guy should be a show host somewhere, because his delivery on this seemingly boring subject is on point and really keeps you interested.
For those of you who are interested in this type of engine that powered many World War II era warbirds, this is heaven.
Ian Jimmerson, the highly skilled carpenter, removes all the parts step by step and explains what they do.
You can listen to the whole video yourself and really get to know these amazing engines, but we do want to make an observation however.
How did he do that and how long did it take?
When he cranks the engine everything seems to be moving exactly as it should and without a hitch.
It is beyond impressive.
Just want to give him a shout out and say “amazing work!”
There are two separate videos in these series.
The one you’ll see below here is part one where he explains everything in detail.
Part two below that is a bit more detailed too, but that’s when he takes a drill to it and shows us that it actually works.
Amazing stuff!

"Trump’s next move? Do all he can to pitt the other candidates against each other and against Ted Cruz. If he can to feed the animosity between them, making sure they stay in their current places, they won’t unite and come together.
But, if the candidates do unite behind Ted Cruz — because he’s the only one with the numbers to beat Donald Trump — there is a pathway to victory.
Glenn outlined his dream team to accomplish just that."

Inside the Cunning, Unprecedented Hack of Ukraine’s Power Grid
Inside the Cunning, Unprecedented Hack of Ukraine’s Power Grid | WIRED
"IT WAS 3:30 p.m. last December 23, and residents of the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Western Ukraine were preparing to end their workday and head home through the cold winter streets.
Inside the Prykarpattyaoblenergo control center, which distributes power to the region’s residents, operators too were nearing the end of their shift.
But just as one worker was organizing papers at his desk that day, the cursor on his computer suddenly skittered across the screen of its own accord.
He watched as it navigated purposefully toward buttons controlling the circuit breakers at a substation in the region and then clicked on a box to open the breakers and take the substation offline. A dialogue window popped up on screen asking to confirm the action, and the operator stared dumbfounded as the cursor glided to the box and clicked to affirm.
Somewhere in a region outside the city he knew that thousands of residents had just lost their lights and heaters.
The operator grabbed his mouse and tried desperately to seize control of the cursor, but it was unresponsive.
Then as the cursor moved in the direction of another breaker, the machine suddenly logged him out of the control panel..."

Pitt Students 'In Tears' and Feeling 'Unsafe' After Milo Yiannopoulos Event - Breitbart
"The University of Pittsburgh’s Student Government Board held a public meeting on Tuesday to discuss the traumatizing visit the night before from “dangerous” homosexual and Breitbart Tech Editor Milo Yiannopoulos, during which students described themselves as feeling “hurt” and “unsafe.”
“During his talk, Yiannopoulos called students who believe in a gender wage gap ‘idiots,’ declared the Black Lives Matter movement a ‘supremacy’ group, while feminists are ‘man-haters,’” according to the student paper The Pitt News, prompting a handful of twenty-something-year olds to feel upset.
“Just because we have to be neutral with our funding doesn’t mean we’re personally neutral,” announced board member Jack Heidecker at the meeting. “I hurt yesterday, too.”
“So many of us shared in our pain.
I felt I was in danger, and I felt so many people in that room were in danger,” proclaimed Marcus Robinson, student and president of the Pittsburgh Rainbow Alliance.
Robinson also suggested that councilors should have been provided in another room to protect students who felt “traumatized” by Yiannopoulos’s opinions.
“This is more than hurt feelings, this is about real violence.
We know that the violence against marginalized groups happens every day in this country,” claimed social work and urban studies major Claire Matway.
“That so many people walked out of that [event] feeling in literal physical danger is not alright...”

February Gun Sales Numbers Are In – Gun Grabbers Aren’t Happy At All
February Gun Sales Numbers Are In – Gun Grabbers Aren’t Happy At All:
"The number of background checks ran for gun purchases during the month of February has been released and gun grabbers, along with the current administration, is likely not too happy about it.
According to FBI data, over 2.6 million background checks were made for firearms purchases in February, making it the ninth month in row that gun sales have set a record.
Of course, background check numbers don’t tell the whole story.
One background check could mean multiple firearms were purchased.
Also, in numerous states, millions of concealed carry permit holders are exempt from background checks, so their purchases are not reflected here.
Hundreds of millions of firearms have been purchased by Americans in the last decade, likely pushing the number of privately owned firearms somewhere over 400 million."

Duggan unveils $40 million fund to help Detroit homebuyers - Crain's Detroit Business
"Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan on Thursday unveiled a $40 million fund to help 1,000 buyers obtain mortgages in Detroit and overcome a gap in property appraisals that is thwarting neighborhood revitalization.
The Detroit Home Mortgage fund, the first of its kind nationwide, stems from a public-private partnership that includes five banks, community foundations, nonprofits and the state.
The money will provide second mortgages to qualified people who otherwise would be unable to buy a home and is aimed at boosting home ownership, property values and reinvestment in Detroit.
The goal is to provide mortgages to 1,000 buyers, a target that would double the number of mortgages issued in Detroit last year.
Buyers have had trouble obtaining mortgages in Detroit because loans were limited to the low, appraised value of a home..."
