Bad news. Big time bad.-----Are You Kidding Me? Chinese Exports Plunge 25.4 Percent Compared To Last Year

Are You Kidding Me? Chinese Exports Plunge 25.4 Percent Compared To Last Year:
We just got more evidence that global trade is absolutely imploding.
Chinese exports dropped 25.4 percent during the month of February compared to a year ago, and Chinese imports fell 13.8 percent compared to a year ago.
For Chinese exports, that was the worst decline that we have seen since 2009, and Chinese imports have now fallen for 16 months in a row on a year over year basis.
The last time we saw numbers like this, we were in the depths of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
China accounts for more global trade than any other nation (including the United States), and so this is a major red flag.
Anyone that is saying that the global economy is in “good shape” is clearly not paying attention.
If someone would have told me a year ago that Chinese exports would be 25 percent lower next February, I would not have believed it.
This is not just a slowdown – this is a historic implosion.  The following comes from Zero Hedge
Things are not getting better in China as Exports crashed 25.4% YoY (the 3rd largest drop in history), almost double the 14.5% expectation and Imports tumbled 13.8%, the 16th month of YoY decline – the longest ever.Altogether this sent the trade surplus down to $32.6bn (missing expectations of $51bn) to 11-month lows.
Chinese Exports - Zero Hedge
So much for that whole “devalue yourself to export growth” idea…

Why We Change Clocks To Spring Forward

Why We Change Clocks To Spring Forward
"...This reverses when the country returns to standard time Nov. 6.
In America, many people credit Benjamin Franklin with the idea for changing the clocks at different seasons.
He wrote an essay in 1784 called “An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light,” which noted that people used more candles to see in the evening while sleeping past dawn.
He joked that changing the clocks for several months could conserve candle usage, but he did not act on his plan.
Instead, the first places to use daylight saving time were some cities and regions of Canada in the early 1900s and then Germany in World War I, according to Time and Date.
In Germany, citizens turned clocks ahead one hour to save fuel during the first world war, and this was around the same time the U.S. first implemented the plan.
The idea also caught on in Britain and France, but many countries abandoned the practice until World War II caused similar concerns.
U.S. President Lyndon Johnson signed the Uniform Time Act, making daylight saving time official, in 1966.
But there are still some states and territories that don’t participate.
Hawaii, most of Arizona, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands do not change their clocks, according to USA Today..."

Former Soviet Chess Champ Who’s Now an Advocate for Capitalism Has Some Pointed Words for Sanders and His ‘Socialist Policies’ | TheBlaze.com:

"Garry Kasparov published a piece in the Daily Beast on Thursday in which he offered a follow-up to his Facebook status criticizing the socialism supported by Democratic presidential candidate Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders that went viral last week.

Kasparov, a Russian chess grandmaster and chairman of the New York-based Human Rights Foundation, garnered widespread social media attention after he published a Facebook post March 1 in which he stated that he was “enjoying the irony of American Sanders supporters lecturing me, a former Soviet citizen, on the glories of Socialism and what it really means!”

Move GOP convention to Salt Lake City, Virginia Beach, home of SEALs

Call: Move GOP convention to Salt Lake City, Virginia Beach, home of SEALs | Washington Examiner:
With concerns growing in GOP circles that Cleveland is too friendly to protest mobs that will try to disrupt the Republican National Convention in July should Donald Trump be the nominee, calls are starting to be made to move the event to a safer city such as Salt Lake City, Utah, or Virginia Beach, Va.
A prominent former Reagan advisor and businessman, for example, has sent a plea to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus warning that riots could spoil the confab and ruin the nominee's election chances just like the 1968 riots by Vietnam War protesters at the Democratic National Convention helped to doom Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey.

A History.com video.
"Riots in Chicago yesterday that shut down a Donald Trump rally confirm our worst fears.
Cleveland will be the opportunity for community organizers to combine all their knowledge in an attack on the Republican Party's national nominating convention," said Richard J. Bishirjian in a letter to supporters.
"Reince Priebus and the GOP establishment chose Cleveland, Ohio in order to exert control over the convention in Ohio and assure that an establishment candidate is the GOP presidential nominee.
Those of us old enough to remember the riots in Chicago in 1968 that destroyed the candidacy of Hubert Humphrey, believe that prudence requires that the Cleveland convention should be moved," added the former Reagan advisor.
"How about Salt Lake City or Virginia Beach, cities where organized groups can be contained, but not Cleveland that is very well suited for organized riots," added Bishirjian, currently the president of Colorado-based EDUCourses, which provides online courses.
T...rump's rallies have been plagued with protests, some of which appear planned to disrupt the candidate and draw in TV cameras.
Cleveland faced its own riots last May after a police officer was acquitted of murder. Other cities have been with similar and related protests from groups like "Black Lives Matter."
When the Cleveland clashes occurred, there were call for the GOP to consider moving the convention, among them one from Bishirjian.
Another key Republican advisor said that there are recent calls made to the RNC to move the convention, though that is highly unlikely because it takes over a year to organize one and secure hotels and venues.
"Let the movement grow to move to a safer place," he told Secrets.
Below is the full letter from Bishirjian:

Beck Slams Carson for Endorsing Trump: ‘The Guy Called You a Pedophile’ | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"Glenn Beck slammed former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson Friday for his endorsement of one-time GOP rival Donald Trump, describing the move as “really remarkable.”

“The guy called you a pedophile,” Beck said on The Glenn Beck Radio Program. ”I mean, I can’t imagine somebody saying and inferring that I’m a pedophile and then going, ‘You know what, you know, a lot of things were said’ — no, not that, not that.”

Poll: 59 percent of Republicans say ‘free trade’ benefits other countries more than U.S. - NetRight Daily
“Surprisingly, the voters of the party traditionally strongest for free trade, the Republican Party, have become the most consistent and strongest opponents to trade policy.”
That was independent pollster Pat Caddell at the National Press Club on March 10 commenting on a poll of 1,950 likely voters he conducted on behalf of Americans for Limited Government on voter attitudes toward the international trade issue including the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership now under consideration.
Particularly, GOP voters more than any other segment are opposed to vast trade deals that shift production and jobs overseas, with 59 percent of Republicans agreeing that “Over last two decades, free trade agreements signed by the U.S. were more of a benefit to other countries...”

Riot Migrants Claim They Didn't Understand German Norms, Were Just Following Afghan Law

Riot Migrants Claim They Didn't Understand German Norms, Were Just Following Afghan Law:
Migrants who were part of a gang that tore apart asylum accommodation and savagely attacked police officers in a riot last year are now in court, charged with aggravated breach of the peace.
Violence broke out in the migrant receiving centre in Suhl, Thuringa in August 2015 after a disagreement between migrants belonging to different sects of Islam living there turned bitter.
...She said: “I perceived the mood to be aggressive, angry, hateful” and described while her fellow officers took refuge in a room with the man the gang was trying to kill the other migrants broke glass windows and threw objects.
Some had dismantled beds and equipped themselves with the iron bars and wooden planks they had taken from them.
The officer revealed they were on the verge of drawing their handguns, but did not, restraint for which they were praised by the judge.
As her group retreated, one of her colleagues said “run, they are coming” as 100 people pursued the officers.
Die Welt reports that despite the officers being in clearly marked uniforms, storms and glass bottles were thrown at them.
Eyewitness reports at the time recalled the aggressors were screaming “Allah Akbar” as they advanced.
With the police at a safe distance, the rioters turned on their accommodation itself and tore it apart, demolishing walls, doors, and smashing windows.
Four of the Afghan migrants in the dock have refused to make an apology for attacking the officers, which they deny, but claim their attack on the Afghan man who tore the Koran was due to a misunderstanding.
One of the men has made a plea to the court for understanding, reports Die Welt, as he didn’t understand the German legal system and that it is normal to threaten people who “desecrate” the Koran back in his home country..."

‘This Man Scares Me’: TV Ad From 1964 Presidential Campaign Is Going Viral — One Look and You’ll Understand Why | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"Though it may be fair to say the 2016 race for the White House is unprecedented in recent memory, tough elections and epic primary battles are not unheard of. In fact, from fears over “party unity” to issues with the Ku Klux Klan, one 1964 ad for incumbent President Lyndon Johnson (D) offers a message some believe to be shockingly relevant in today’s presidential cycle."

Engineer Tricked EPA Out Of $50 Million In Green Energy Scam

Engineer Tricked EPA Out Of $50 Million In Green Energy Scam | The Daily Caller
An engineer pleaded guilty Thursday to tricking the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) into handing his company $50 million in taxpayer-backed subsidies as part of a massive biofuels scam.
Engineer William Barnes reportedly “rubber-stamped” false reports sent to the EPA in order to get the owners of two biofuel companies lucrative subsidies from taxpayers, according to The Morning Call.
The owners of the two green energy companies, Dave Dunham and Ralph Tommaso, were charged in December for exaggerating the amount of biodiesel and heating oil they produced as part of a racket that extends from Pennsylvania to Washington state and even Canada.
Durham and Tommaso hired Barnes to document the production capacities of their biofuels plants in order to get subsidies from the EPA’s renewable fuel credit program — a subsidy created to encourage the production of biofuels from things like cooking oil..."

Syria refugees likely end up on welfare

ABRAHAM H. MILLER: Syria refugees likely end up on welfare - Washington Times
Do you live in a preferred refugee resettlement community?
There are 82 of them in America, and a lot of them are in small towns where you’d least expect to find them.
Refugee resettlement is big business, and nine organizations, called volags, have a virtual monopoly over the business.
They are the ones that Department of State has selected because they are located or use subcontractors in communities where refugees have “ample opportunities of sustained economic independence.”
Or so the State Department would like you to believe.
In reality, there is little follow up on whether this assumption merges into reality.
Our local refugee resettlement contractor in Walnut Creek, California, a preferred community, even denies preferred communities exist.
She claims there are not refugee resettlement communities but grant recipients, as if these grant recipients operate in cyberspace without a geographical location.
...The Minneapolis area, for example, has been a preferred area for resettling Somalis.
It was ground zero for recruiting for the jihadist group al-Shabab, and a decade later it is the focal point for ISIS recruitment in America.
...The volags and the community influentials that support them would tell you that their refugees are well vetted, citing a State Department site to verify this.
But as noted by Michael Steinbeck, the assistant director of the FBI, there is no way to adequately vet refugees that come from a failed state..."

Lunch video-----Death by Dems

Death by Dems | Power Line:
Detroit is a case study in the wreck of liberal governance and the politics of racial grievance. Michael Barone is from Detroit originally and has occasionally written about its decline, as in his CRB review “The unheavenly city” (on Charles LeDuff’s Detroit: An American Autopsy). The review opens: “When people ask me why I moved from liberal to conservative, I have a one-word answer: Detroit.”
In his current column, Barone refers to last week’s GOP debate in Detroit and points to Ted Cruz “citing Detroit and how, in his view, 50 years of liberal governance destroyed so much of a once-thriving city.” Here he provides his own testimony again: “I saw that destruction as an intern in the Detroit mayor’s office during the 1967 riot and in repeated visits over the years afterward, destruction wreaked in large part because of policies now advocated by the Black Lives Matter movement and Hillary Clinton.”
In his new Firewall video for the David Horowitz Freedom Center (below, also posted with transcript here), Bill Whittle takes a look at Detroit over the past 55 years. He calls what happened to Detroit Death by Democrats. I thought readers who haven’t seen it might find it of interest.

Cruz’s Path to Victory: The Math and Science

Cruz’s Path to Victory: The Math and Science:

"For most of the modern primary cycles, the delegate math has been driven by momentum early on in the season. Typically, once the front-runner wins most of the key early primaries and comes out with more delegates and states on Super Tuesday, he becomes the presumptive nominee. The other candidates might hang in for another month and score a few wins, but they are usually fighting a losing battle similar to the confederate army in 1864."

With Every Other Problem Solved, Obama Makes Diaper Prices A Priority

With Every Other Problem Solved, Obama Makes Diaper Prices A Priority | Stock News & Stock Market Analysis - IBD:
"When John F. Kennedy was president, he worried about a Missile Gap with the Soviet Union.
His party’s successor to the White House, Barack Obama, is worried about — we are not kidding — a Diaper Gap.
An official White House email alerts the public that while diapers “are basic necessities … nearly one in three families struggle to afford them for their babies.”
These families, the email says, are forced to choose among food, heat and diapers.
“That’s a choice no family should have to make.”
The email directed recipients to a White House Web page — whitehouse.gov/diapergap — wherein Cecilia Munoz, director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, laments that while the lucky few can buy diapers by the truckload at Costco or order them for cheap on Amazon, “the benefits of the new economy aren’t available to all Americans.”
And, shock and horror, there is “no federal assistance for purchasing diapers.”
So, short of proposing a revamp of the nation’s welfare program, the White House is “highlighting a cross-sector strategy to expand access to affordable diapers” that involves manufacturers, online retailers and nonprofits..."
