The woman behind the F/A–18 jet’s Bitchin’ Betty alert system retires (VIDEO).
The Siri of military jets is retiring.
In this video, Boeing bids a fond farewell to a voice that F/A–18 Super Hornet fighter pilots know well, a voice that’s very likely saved more than a few of their lives.
She’s known as “Bitchin’ Betty,” and she was the faceless voice of the F/A–18—until now.
Kind of like Siri, but for fighter jets.
Her real name is Leslie Shook.
For 20 years, Shook’s voice has greeted F/A–18 pilots when they power up their craft, and more critically, it’s her urgent voice that calls their attention to things on the verge of going horribly wrong inside and out of the cockpit.
Hence the “Bitchin’.”
Shook doesn’t mind the nickname, and talks in the video of a friend introducing her to an “air crew," or flyer, who felt indebted to Betty for her lifesaving “roll right, roll right!”
She understandably tears up recalling the story..."

5 Quick Facts About the Gender Pay Gap
5 Quick Facts About the Gender Pay Gap - Hit & Run : Reason.com
In America and the U.K., the "gender pay gap"—the space that separates average male-worker wages from average female-worker wages—has been picking up steam as an important political topic, especially as elections near.
In the process, a lot of misinformation is also gaining traction.
Yet rigorous research on the gender pay gap paints quite a different picture than the political spin on it does.
As evidence, see this recent paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research... looked at gender pay gap stats dating back to the 1950s and stretching through 2010.
...In 1980, American women's average hourly earnings were about 63 percent of men's, but by 1989, women were earning 73 percent of what men did. But since the 1980s, the gap has closed much less quickly.
In 2010, women were making 79 percent of men's overall wages.
In 2014, full-time female workers earned about 79 percent of what men did on an annual basis and about 83 percent when wages were measured weekly.
In a section on the impact of government policies on the gender pay gap, Blau and Kahn explore whether "the time path of the increase in women's relative earnings appears compatible with an effect of [federal] laws and regulations."
In short: not really..."

Hillary: Illegals Should Be Able To Sign Up On Obamacare Exchanges, I Want 'More Options' For Them to Get Healthcare - Breitbart:
"Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated that she supports allowing illegal immigrants to buy insurance off the exchanges set up under Obamacare, and addressed the issue of subsidies by saying this would need to “be worked out in comprehensive immigration reform. And what I do want to see, is that we have more options for undocumented people to be able to get the healthcare they need” on Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Final 5 Candidates.”

60 American Law Profs Condemn Anonymous Student For Posting 'All Lives Matter' On Prof's Door
TaxProf Blog:
"Campus Reform, American Univ. Profs: Saying ‘All Lives Matter’ Is ‘White Supremacy’:
Dozens of professors from American University’s Washington College of Law (WCL) openly condemned an unknown student as a white supremacist for posting a sign with the catchphrase “All Lives Matter” on a faculty member’s door.
“The ‘All Lives Matter’ sign might seem to be a benign message with no ill intent, but it has become a rallying cry for many who espouse ideas of white supremacy and overt racism, as well as those who do not believe the laws should equally protect those who have a different skin color or religion,” the professors wrote in a statement to the WCL community. ..
The handwritten sign was allegedly posted on the door of a faculty member’s office by a student who has not been identified.
The professors, however, think the student clearly intended to promote a racist message. ...
Nearly 60 professors signed on to the letter."

LIBERTY REVIEW
LIBERTY REVIEW:
Spiral Death Spin
The Left demands tolerance, yet they will not
tolerate anyone who disagrees with their agenda of destruction. Our society is in a spiral death spin......

Spiral Death Spin
By Tammy Derouin
The administration wants civil unrest and the most
uninformed among us are bound and determined to deliver it right to his door
step. They are clueless to the fact that
they are being used to destroy the very country that acknowledges their God
given rights. They demand that their
voices be heard but they will do everything in their power to silence anyone
who dares to disagree with them. This is
liberal hypocrisy at its best.
The executive and his administration have worked tirelessly
to divide our nation. They never waste
an opportunity to undermine or chip away at our freedoms and liberties. Their foot soldiers are being used to deny
others their God given rights. Can you
imagine the outcry if conservatives were attempting to silence liberals? It would be a much different story.
Our rights are not a one party benefit. This is precisely why our founding fathers
created a governing system of laws, not men.
They understood that everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs. Having an opinion or in many cases, facts,
which differ from the ruling party is proving to be very dangerous. Everyone has the right to speak freely and to
assemble but not when it interferes with the rights of others. We know the liberal Left would not tolerate
the same malicious treatment.
Today many liberals feel safe while trampling on the rights
of others. After all, the administration
turns a blind eye to their unruly behavior. They cannot see they are destroying
themselves in the process. If they think they are being ignored or not being
heard now, wait until their party turns on them. They will scream foul when their rights are
infringed upon. But, will there be any
rights left to claim?

Instead, the conservative firebrand argued that the attacks being carried out in the name of Islam are actually “traditional Islam” and that it is people like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a conservative Muslim-American who advocates the separation of mosque and state and opposes “political Islam,” who are truly “radical.”

This is gonna hurt...big time-----Price of neglect: Michigan must spend billions on water, sewer fixes
Price of neglect: Michigan must spend billions on water, sewer fixes - Crain's Detroit Business: "Much of Michigan’s water and sewer infrastructure has been neglected for years, threatening public health and in desperate need of repair, an undertaking that experts say could cost $17.5 billion over the next two decades.
That price tag doesn’t include the cost of replacing lead service pipes across the state, a peril exposed by the ongoing water crisis in Flint.
How shaky is Michigan’s overall water infrastructure?
Consider our faltering network of sewers.
In 2013 and 2014, nearly 25 billion gallons of partially treated and untreated storm and sanitary sewage flowed into Michigan’s waterways.
How much is that?
One billion gallons is enough to fill more than 1,500 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
In its most recent report card, released in 2009, ASCE gave Michigan a D+ for its storm water sewers and a C for those that carry waste water.
Even worse, the report card gave the state’s drinking water system a D.
“A significant portion of the state’s primary (water) distribution system is nearing 100 years old,” the report said, adding, “Much of the delivery system, including piping, valves and hydrants, are reaching the end of their anticipated design life, and routine replacement has been postponed for too long....”"

"In fact, the guidance seems to intentionally cut parents out of the process.
The guidance states: “School staff should address students by their chosen name and pronouns that correspond to their gender identity, regardless of whether there has been a legal name change.”
Students can even ask to have their chosen name and gender “included in the district’s information management systems, in addition to the student’s legal name.”
But what about when school staff members are speaking with parents about their son or daughter?"

Report: Michigan city revenues lone in nation to fall from 2002 to 2012 - Crain's Detroit Business: "LANSING — An advocacy group says Michigan is the only state in the nation to see an overall revenue drop for cities, townships and counties from 2002 to 2012.
The Michigan Municipal League said Monday that the state cut revenue sharing with cities, townships, villages and counties by $7.5 billion during that timeframe.
The group advocates for more state money for local governments. Cities use that money to pay for things like fire and police departments, local roads, libraries and city hall expenses.
The group used U.S. Census Bureau data to show that Michigan cities saw an 8 percent drop in revenues that the group said is tied to state laws.
Senate Fiscal Agency economist David Zinn said he couldn't confirm or deny the group's claims, but called them "believable.""

The end of (American) civilization----…And Now the U.S. Ranks Dead Last in Problem-Solving Tech-Skills
…And Now the U.S. Ranks Dead Last in Problem-Solving Tech-Skills | Intellectual Takeout:
From The Wall Street Journal:
“A new report [from the National Center for Education Statistics] finds U.S. workers rank dead last among 18 industrial countries when it comes to ‘problem solving in technology-rich environments,’ or using digital technology to evaluate information and perform practical tasks.
The consequences of that emerging competitive disadvantage is energizing the volatile undercurrent of this year’s presidential race, some observers say.
If the problem-solving deficit is bad, the reasons for it may be worse, said Stephen Provasnik, the U.S. technical adviser for the International Assessment for Adult Competency: flagging literacy and numeracy skills, which are the fundamental tools needed to score well on the survey.”
In other words, Americans are whizzes at posting selfies, snap-chats, and other simple messages on social media, but when it comes to actually sitting down and analyzing and applying the things they read, forget it.
- "Yesterday we learned that the U.S. is failing when it comes to literacy, and how that has a direct effect on our elections.
- Today we learn that Americans are also failing in what many might consider one of our best skills: digital technology.

WWII Pilot Tells A Story That'll Make You Feel Like A Pansy - World War Wings:
"This Man Can Definitely Deliver A Story, That’s For Sure
Meet Flight Lieutenant Bill Green, a pilot for the Royal Air Force during World War II.
He tells us about his first time in the cockpit of a Hurricane after only a few hours of classroom training.
As it turns out, it didn’t go so well for him, but he still remembers it fondly by the excitement in his voice!
I pulled my stick back, did the loop…and blacked out with the G. When I came around, from the blackout, the instruments were going round and round…I was upside-down, hanging on the straps, and I put my stick over to correct it and went into a spin. The buzz was the Hurricanes and Spitfires can’t get out of a spin…-Bill Green, RAF pilot.
After this incident flying for the first time, Bill Green was put into the No. 501 Squadron and had to fly to aid in the Battle of Britain!
Having only seven hours of experience flying in a Hurricane, it took only four days for his Hurricane to get so damaged in battle that he had to glide to safety as his engine was shot.
Five days after that, he was shot down again, this time having to bail out of the plane.
To top it off, his parachute failed and he almost died, but lucky his canopy fully opened only seconds from death.
Listening to this man’s story is truly inspirational as his life experience at 21 was nothing like most of ours!"

Sharia in Denmark:
- Documentary filmmakers in Denmark conducted an undercover investigation, with hidden cameras, into claims that imams are working towards keeping parallel societies for Muslims within Denmark.
- Abu Bilal, imam of the Grimhøj mosque, told Fatma that her husband is entitled to take another wife. Fatma is not allowed to deny her husband his "sexual rights," even when he is violent.
- The imam of the Hamad Bin Khalifa mosque gave Fatma the same answers she had received in all the other mosques: She must not take a job without her husband's permission, and even if her husband continues to beat her, she must not contact the police.
- Umm Abdullah told Fatma that she should only meet with Danish people in order to tell them about Islam. This is necessary, she said, to save the Danes from hell, and the only reason Muslims should interact with Danes.
The issue of parallel Muslim societies has sparked renewed debate in Denmark after a three-part television documentary, "The Mosques Behind the Veil" was aired at the beginning of March on Danish TV2.
