Teachers Get RAISES After Scott Walker Kicks Out The Unions | The Federalist Papers

Teachers Get RAISES After Scott Walker Kicks Out The Unions | The Federalist Papers:

"When Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker gave the boot to teachers’ unions, liberals predicted a disaster of apocalyptic proportions: Teachers quitting, slack-jawed, uneducated students meandering down vacant downtowns that closed shop.

It turns out, though, that Walker’s “Act 10” may have been the best thing to happen to schools and teachers in decades."

The Next Big Bailout? Treasury Rejects Proposal To Cut Pension Benefits

The Next Big Bailout? Treasury Rejects Proposal To Cut Pension Benefits | Zero Hedge:
"UPS, and roughly 270,000 retired truck drivers, construction workers, and other service workers can breathe a collective sigh of relief... for now.
...Absent an injection of funds or benefit cuts, the fund which pays out $2.8 billion in benefits a year will be insolvent within ten years...
According to the WSJ, the fund currently has $16.8 billion in assets against $35 billion in liabilities, and has roughly one active worker contributing to the fund for every four retirees that draw from it.
So we're now back to where we started.
The Central States Pension Fund will by its own estimates be insolvent within ten years, and the government safety net, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp cannot be counted on to pick up the benefits because it too is well on its way to insolvency.
If the Treasury won't allow any pension cuts, and the government created safety net won't be there to keep the benefits flowing, how will the cash continue to flow to members?
With the precedent now set by the Treasury that no cuts will be allowed, the answer will likely come in the form of a massive bailout."

A compendium of evil-----From Whitewater to Benghazi: A Primer on Bill and Hillary Clinton Scandals

From Whitewater to Benghazi: A Primer on Bill and Hillary Clinton Scandals - The Atlantic:
"...since Bill Clinton’s first run for office, in 1974:
Something that appears potentially scandalous on its face turns out to be innocuous, but an investigation into it reveals different questionable behavior.
The canonical case is Whitewater, a failed real-estate investment Bill and Hillary Clinton made in 1978.
Although no inquiry ever produced evidence of wrongdoing, investigations ultimately led to President Clinton’s impeachment for perjury and obstruction of justice.
With Hillary Clinton leading the field for the Democratic nomination for president, every Clinton scandal—from Whitewater to the State Department emails—will be under the microscope.
(No other American politicians—even ones as corrupt as Richard Nixon, or as hated by partisans as George W. Bush—have fostered the creation of a permanent multimillion-dollar cottage industry devoted to attacking them.)
Keeping track of each controversy, where it came from, and how serious it is, is no small task, so here’s a primer.
We’ll update it as new information emerges..."

"The lengthy profile also includes comments from Rhodes’s assistant, Ned Price, in which he explains how the Obama administration essentially manipulates the press.

In addition to daily White House briefings, Price said they have “force multipliers” or “compadres” in the media who regularly help with the administration’s messaging.

As Mediaite’s Alex Griswold noted, the revelations easily could have been a front page headline, but were instead buried deep inside a lengthy profile that appeared on page 44 of the publication’s Sunday magazine."

WATCH: Shock Video Reveals Secretive TTIP Process Inside the European Parliament

A shocking new video which exposes the secretive nature of theTrans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) deal between the U.S. and European Union (EU). has emerged on YouTube.
The video shows a Member of the European Parliament being escorted into a guarded reading room, and kicked out when ‘minders’ caught him taking notes.
...When it emerges that Mr. Flanagan has been copying the text of the documents in front of him, he is ejected from the room and told to contact the Chairman of the Committee on International Trade, Bernd Lange.
But Mr. Flanagan assets that there is no scrutiny, as MEPs as elected representatives of the people have no say in the documents or negotiations, but are simply allowed to read the details that have already been agreed upon by European Union and United States negotiators.
“The texts I’m going to view, they have already been decided on,” he says, adding: “It’s important to point out that all I do is get a chance to read them”...

It sure is a good thing they’re not white dudes or they’d be expelled.
AFP reported:
The prestigious West Point military academy has opened an inquiry after 16 black female cadets posed for a photo with fists raised in militant style.
The pose struck by the cadets, dressed in their gray uniforms while standing on the steps of barracks in late April, is seen by some critics as an implicit show of support for the Black Lives Matter movement and thus a potential violation of a Defense Department rule against “partisan political activity.”
...The young women were following a longtime tradition at West Point, where soon-to-be graduates each year strike stern and straightlaced poses in historic style much as their predecessors have done for more than a century.
But instead of raising their sabers to the sky, as they did in another photo without controversy, the black student-officers sparked a mini-tempest by raising their fists at a school with a predominantly white and male student population."

Oakland PD cancels Cinco de Mayo DUI checkpoints to avoid offending anyone

Oakland PD cancels Cinco de Mayo DUI checkpoints to avoid offending anyone « Hot Air:
"It’s the little things that make life special, but it may also be the little things that let you know when you’ve truly developed a problem.
If you happen to live in the greater Oakland, California area, this story is the sort of indicator which just might let you know it’s time to leave.
We’ve seen too many stories of political correctness infecting the government to count here, and occasionally it washes over into the field of law enforcement, but this one is simply staggering.
The Oakland PD had scheduled a series of sobriety checkpoints around the city for Cinco de Mayo and, as usual, let everyone know they would be on the job to prevent people from driving drunk after the partying was done. (Hat tip to Immigration Reform.)
This somehow raised the dander of someone in the Latino community who amazingly claimed this was a demonstration of racism. A group called Oakland Latinos United took to Facebook to voice their complaints.
“Oakland Police has posted on their Twitter account they’re going to put out Extra Patrols for you drunk Mexicans on Cinco de Mayo,” said a post on the Facebook page Oakland Latinos United. “How does it feel. As a Mexican Chicano I wonder if OPD will be posting DUI PSAs for every ethnic & culturally based holiday?”
So how did the Oakland PD respond? They cancelled the DUI checkpoints. (Fox News)
A warning about drunk-driving checkpoints during the Cinco de Mayo holiday got the Oakland (Calif.) Police Department in hot water.
The lengthy warning, titled “Fiesta Time or Jail Times,” about driving while intoxicated made many references to such drinks as tequila and margaritas, and many people complained it was offensive.
“In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has become synonymous with festive fiestas and salty margaritas,” the warning said. “Historically, the fifth of May commemorates Mexico’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War, but present-day celebrations often lead to drunk driving—and there’s no victory in that.”
Criticism about the warning prompted the Oakland Police Department to issue an apology and then cancel the checkpoints...

Feminists Force Frats to Apologize for Opposing Sex Assault

Feminists Force Frats to Apologize for Opposing Sex Assault:
Northwestern University fraternities thought they were doing the right and noble thing, hanging banners off the sides of their houses reminding students that it was Sex Assault Awareness Month.
But not only was the move not enough to satisfy campus social justice warriors, some SJWs forced the fraternities to issue a blanket apology for their effort, because their signs might have “triggered” some students.
The signs read “This is Everyone’s Problem” and noted that each fraternity “Stands With Survivors of Sexual Violence” and “Supports Survivors.”
But apparently, simply recognizing sexual violence as a problem and informing your fellow students about the dangers of campus sexual assault—something campus feminists have been exhorting (and, in some ways, extorting) their fellow college students to do ad nauseum —is not enough to silence the clamoring harpy hordes.
Campus feminists published an op-ed, chastising the fraternities for their lack of self awareness in daring to address a “rampant” problem head on, and calling the banners nothing more than a “cruel reminder” that fraternities are cesspools of male privilege and impropriety.
...Unfortunately, the fraternities were punished for taking even the first steps.
And worse, Northwestern’s Interfraternity Council actually issued an apology for the signs, taking full responsibility for not being “cognizant” of the signs’ implications..."

He cited Clinton’s private email server as evidence of this pattern.

“How can you seriously say that you’re being transparent,” Paoletta said in an interview with Fox News, “when the secretary of state is running a private server and has deleted over 30,000 of those documents before anyone even knows that it’s in existence?”

The most hated candidate usually wins

The most hated candidate usually wins | Washington Examiner:
"Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the most hated presidential candidates in history.
This much we have known for some time.
FiveThirtyEight has a great chart plotting the fact that the American people "don't just like or dislike the candidates, they really like or dislike them."
Trump, predictably, is in the stratosphere comparatively when it comes to strong unfavorable ratings, clocking in at 53 percent.
Clinton is less disliked, with 37 percent of voters having strong unfavorable feelings toward her.
The next most disliked candidate in the chart, which dates back to 1980 and includes only nominees for the two major parties, is George W. Bush, at 32 percent in 2004.
But there's something interesting about this chart that people seem to be missing in their rush to scream "See how much people hate Trump!":
Since 1984, the candidate with the higher strong unfavorable rating has won.

  • Ronald Reagan was more strongly disliked than Walter Mondale;
  • George H. W. Bush was more strongly disliked than Michael Dukakis;
  • Bill Clinton was more strongly disliked than Bob Dole;
  • George W. Bush was more strongly disliked than John Kerry;
  • Barack Obama was more strongly disliked than John McCain and Mitt Romney.

There have only been two occasions where the more disliked person lost:
In 1992 and 2000. George H. W. Bush had higher strong unfavorable ratings but lost to Bill Clinton and Al Gore had higher strong unfavorable than George W. Bush but lost..."

"The Zika virus that is transmitted through the bites of the Aedes aegypti mosquito is spreading throughout South and Central America and the Caribbean, inclulding Puerto Rico.

The Centers for Disease Control expects that the virus will make it to the mainland United States sometime this summer.
Absent a vaccine, the chief way to protect public health is mosquito control measures such as spraying insecticides where larva grow.
However, a much subtler and environmentally friendly technique as been developed by the biotech company Oxitec: mosquitoes genetically engineered to pass along a gene that is lethal to Aedes aegypi larva.

Oregon State University Will Force Incoming Students to Take 'Social Justice Training'

Oregon State University Will Force Incoming Students to Take 'Social Justice Training' - Hit & Run : Reason.com:
"...The most pernicious and questionably legal forms of indoctrination aren't happening in the classroom at all, and are primarily driven by administrators rather than professors.
Oregon State University provides a good example.
The campus has plans to implement a new training program for incoming freshmen in the fall of 2016.
..."This training initiative is intended to provide all students entering Oregon State University an orientation to concepts of diversity, inclusion and social justice and help empower all OSU students to contribute to an inclusive university community," according to the proposal.
The modules will brief students on the history of social justice activism at Oregon, stress the importance of diversity and inclusivity, and provide students with resources to "incorporate the pursuit of social justice within their university experiences."
It will let them know about the Bias Response Team, which provides a website where students can report each other for perceived harassment.
The BRT's latest efforts make clear what kind of nonsense counts as a "bias incident."
The team has been studiously investigated the appearance of chalk messages on campus.
...Nevertheless, students are encouraged to report chalk drawings that offend them to a variety of university bureaucrats, according to Batista's email.
...Indeed, students might reasonably fear that agreeing with the ideology of the trainers is a precondition of coming to campus.
Students are no longer merely required to grapple with leftist ideas in the classroom—they increasingly must live, sweat, and breathe "oppression studies."
It is no wonder that so many of them have developed a healthy disrespect for the principles of the First Amendment.
They are being trained—not taught, but trained—to think everything that offends them is a bias incident. "
