From $4.5 Billion To Nothing: Forbes Revises Estimated Net Worth Of Theranos Founder Elizabeth Holmes

From $4.5 Billion To Nothing: Forbes Revises Estimated Net Worth Of Theranos Founder Elizabeth Holmes - Forbes:
"Last year, Elizabeth Holmes topped the FORBES list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women with a net worth of $4.5 billion.
Today,  FORBES is lowering our estimate of her net worth  to nothing.
Theranos had no comment.
Our estimate of Holmes’ wealth is based entirely on her 50% stake in Theranos, the blood-testing company she founded in 2003 with plans of revolutionizing the diagnostic test market.
Theranos shares are not traded on any stock market; private investors purchased stakes in 2014 at a price that implied a $9 billion valuation for the company.
Since then, Theranos has been hit with allegations that its tests are inaccurate and is being investigated by an alphabet soup of federal agencies.
That, plus new information indicating Theranos’ annual revenues are less than $100 million, has led FORBES to come up with a new, lower estimate of Theranos’ value..."

Blind Louisiana Man Sues McDonald's for Refusing Him Drive-Thru Service

Blind Louisiana Man Sues McDonald's for Refusing Him Drive-Thru Service - NBC News
"McDonald's has until mid-June to respond to a federal lawsuit accusing it of discrimination for refusing to serve blind customers who walk up during late-night hours when only the drive-thru window is open.
The plaintiff, Scott Magee of Metairie, Louisiana, said in court documents filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago that he was laughed at and turned away from the drive-thru window at a McDonald's in the New Orleans suburb late at night last August.
It wasn't the first time that had happened, Magee alleged.
Many McDonald's restaurants nationwide continue service through their drive-thru windows late at night after the main restaurant entrance has closed.
But the company's policy is not to serve pedestrians at the drive-thru, and blind customers can't drive, so they're effectively barred from patronizing the world's largest fast food chain by revenue, according to the suit, which seeks class-action status for all blind Americans who may have had difficulty ordering at McDonald's..."

Hiroshima and Nagasaki--LIBERTY REVIEW

Hiroshima and Nagasaki

By Tammy Derouin

The quest to humiliate and embarrass the United States is a never ending endeavor for our apologetic leader.  He took his band wagon on the road once again and performed his one-man act.  The words may change according to his location and audience but the premise of his famous apology tours remains the same. He disapproves of the United States and everything that made it a great and powerful nation.

I read the speech he gave in Hiroshima, Japan, this past weekend.  He didn’t come right out and apologize on behalf of the United States for dropping the atomic bomb, but he performed well enough to give his traveling apology show one more successful performance.

Obama began his speech with these words, “Seventy-one years ago, on a bright cloudless morning, death fell from the sky and the world was changed.”  As I continued to read his speech, what was most upsetting was that he doesn’t express the same emotional outpouring, be it outrage or sympathy, when America is attacked and American lives are lost.

Obama continued, “Why do we come to this place, to Hiroshima?  We come to ponder a terrible force unleashed in a not-so-distant past.”  Why did we originally come to this place, to Hiroshima? The answer is American history, Mr. Executive.

Articles: Who helped Barack Obama avoid the taint of Chicago corruption?
"How did Barack Obama emerge from Chicago in 2008 untainted by political corruption?
His rise to power began at the 2004 Democratic Party Convention when Illinois State Senator Barack Obama was catapulted onto the national stage by the alluring force of his oratory.
Four years later, in December 2008, Rod Blagojevich, the fourth governor in recent Illinois history to be imprisoned, was arrested by the F.B.I. culminating a long investigation led by the U.S. Attorney (USA) in Chicago.
“Blago’s” arrest came just as he was about to meet with someone to negotiate a bribe in exchange for appointing then-U.S. Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. to complete President Obama’s senatorial term.
On the day Blago was arrested, the agent in charge of the Chicago F.B.I. Office said, “If [Illinois] isn’t the most corrupt state in the United States, it is certainly one hell of a competitor.”
Jackson, Co-Chair of President-Elect Obama’s campaign, was later arrested, along with his wife, and sentenced, in August 2013, to 30 months in jail for stealing $750,000 from his own campaign fund.
One year before Obama was inaugurated President, Antoin “Tony” Rezko, a key fundraiser for both Obama and Blagojevich, and one of three core members of Obama’s 2004 senatorial campaign finance committee, was arrested by F.B.I. agents acting on evidence gathered by the USA in Chicago. Three years later, Rezko was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison.
There’s no need here to rehash Rezko’s and Blago’s criminal transgressions in detail, or document the many Illinois politicians, from both major parties, who, over the years, traded their business suits for jump suits.
It is common knowledge that Chicago is the center of political corruption in a widely corrupt state.
Yet, somehow, the 44th President of the United States emerged from that toxic cauldron called “Crook County” untainted by the maelstrom of high-profile corruption cases that engulfed several of his closest, political associates.
The question is…
How did that happen?

White House Secretly Squashed IRS Resistance to ObamaCare's Illegal Subsidies

White House Secretly Squashed IRS Resistance to ObamaCare's Illegal Subsidies - Breitbart
"The New York Times reports on a secret meeting from 2014, exposed thanks to sworn testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee, at which a vanload of IRS officials were told to stifle their complaints about billions of dollars in flagrantly illegal ObamaCare funding.
Upon arrival, the I.R.S. officials, some of whom had expressed doubts that the Obama administration had the proper authority to spend billions of dollars on a crucial element of its [Obamacare] health care law, were ushered into a conference room.
There, they were presented with an Office of Management and Budget memo laying out the administration’s justification for spending $3.9 billion on consumer health insurance subsidies.
They were told they could read it but could not take notes or make copies.
The O.M.B. officials left the room to allow their visitors a moment to absorb the document, and then returned to answer a few questions and note that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. had been briefed and signed off on the legal rationale.
“It was not a common practice in my 10 years in government at the three agencies where I worked,” said David Fisher, a former I.R.S. financial risk officer, recounting the odd meeting during a deposition on May 11 conducted by investigators for the House Ways and Means Committee..."

State Department’s Former Top Watchdog Debunks Clinton’s Main Claim in Email Scandal | TheBlaze.com

State Department’s Former Top Watchdog Debunks Clinton’s Main Claim in Email Scandal | TheBlaze.com:

“I would have been stunned had I been asked to send an email to her at a personal server, private address,” he continued. “I would have declined to do so on security grounds, and if she had sent one to me, I probably would have started an investigation.”

Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, has repeatedly said, even after the current inspector general’s report was released, that her use of her server was not “unprecedented” as other secretaries of state did the same thing.

However, as Krongard noted in his interview with Fox News, the IG report specifically contradicts that claim as it revealed that only Colin Powell used a personal email and only occasionally. He also worked with the State Department to ensure his email was secure — something the report found that Clinton did not do."

A 'diet' to give California drivers indigestion

A 'diet' to give California drivers indigestion - The Orange County Register:
"...The newest outrage comes from the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research in the form of a proposed “road diet.”
This would essentially halt attempts to expand or improve our roads, even when improvements have been approved by voters.
This strategy can only make life worse for most Californians, since nearly 85 percent of us use a car to get to work.
This in a state that already has among the worst-maintained roads in the country, with two-thirds of them in poor or mediocre condition.
The OPR move reflects the increasingly self-righteous extremism animating the former Jesuit’s underlings.
Ironically, the governor’s proposals to impose this road diet rest partly on expanding the California Environmental Quality Act, which Brown, in a more insightful moment, described as a “vampire” that needs a “stake through the heart.”
Now, instead, the inquisitors seize on vague legislative language and push it to what the Southern California Leadership Council has dubbed “an undesirable and unmanageable extreme.”
In essence, the notion animating the “road diet” is to make congestion so terrible that people will be forced out of their cars and onto transit.
It’s not planning for how to make the ways people live today more sustainable.
It has, in fact, more in common with Soviet-style social engineering, which was based similarly on a particular notion of “science” and progressive values..."

Hillary Clinton’s E-mail Scandal -- Joe Biden Could Be the Democrats’ ‘Torricelli Solution’

Hillary Clinton’s E-mail Scandal -- Joe Biden Could Be the Democrats’ ‘Torricelli Solution’ | National Review:
"In an excellent column following release of the inspector general’s report, National Review’s John Fund envisioned the increasingly plausible implosion of Clinton’s candidacy — i.e., a scenario in which Democrats dump her owing to her metastasizing legal woes, coupled with her extraordinarily high negatives (general disapproval, untrustworthiness, unlikability, etc.). The latter are set in stone after a quarter-century’s antics.
Relatedly, on Twitter, I floated the possibility that Democrats could resort to the “Torricelli Solution.”
In October 2002, seeking reelection while beset by an indefensible corruption investigation, Senator Robert Torricelli was badly trailing his Republican rival, Doug Forrester, as the race came down to the wire — no small thing in the blue Garden State.
At the eleventh hour (actually, more like after the twelfth hour), Democrats persuaded “the Torch” to step aside.
Into his place they slid 78-year-old Frank Lautenberg, a reliably partisan former senator.
The lateness of the switcheroo denied Republicans a meaningful opportunity to campaign against Lautenberg, in violation of state election laws.
But New Jersey’s solidly Democratic judiciary predictably looked the other way.
Overnight, the polls flipped and Lautenberg won going away.
The point of my tweet was to poll the Twitterverse about who might play Lautenberg to Hillary’s Torricelli.
The consensus choice was Vice President Joe Biden, who appeared poised to enter the race months back and seems to have been chomping at the bit ever since.
There was also a common inkling that Elizabeth Warren would be chosen as veep and heiress apparent.
The hard-left senator is a natural choice: She would appease not only lefty women dismayed by Hillary’s implosion but also socialist Bernie Sanders supporters, who are the energy in the party at the moment."

After N.J. Police Deny Him a Concealed Carry Permit, This Army Lt. Colonel Takes His Case to Court — Here’s How the Judge Ruled | TheBlaze.com:

"On paper, Lt. Col. Terry S. Russell, who has served 27 years in the Army and holds a senior position at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey, appears to be the perfect candidate for a concealed carry permit. However, he was recently deemed unworthy of such a license.

Apparently, neither his expertise nor the fact that he works at a military base that has been under threat of terrorist attacks was enough for the state to grant Russell a permit."

THIS IS THE DUMBEST, FAKEST, DIDN’T HAPPENEST THING HILLARY EVER SAID:
The sexism is less virulent now than it was in 2008, she said, but still she encounters people on rope lines who tell her, “...‘I really admire you, I really like you, I just don’t know if I can vote for a woman to be president.’ I mean, they come to my events and then they say that to me.”
Given who the supporters of the candidate who knocked Hillary out of the primaries in 2008 were, perhaps the real question here is why are Democrat-run organizations — in this case, the Democratic party itself — such noxious cesspits of virulent sexism?

FDA Finds Majority of Herbal Supplements at GNC, Walmart, Walgreens, And Target Don’t Contain What They Claim – Instead Cheap Fillers Like Wheat And Soy Powder

FDA Finds Majority of Herbal Supplements at GNC, Walmart, Walgreens, And Target Don’t Contain What They Claim – Instead Cheap Fillers Like Wheat And Soy Powder - Healthy Food House:
The lack of regulations in regards to herbal products helps Walmart, Walgreens, Target, and GNC to take full advantage and sell the public supplements that do not contain the herbs on the label.
The New York State attorney general’s office conducted an investigation into store-brand supplements at four national retailers — GNC, Target, Walgreens and Wal-Mart.
The investigation found that these giant retail stores sell dietary supplements that do not contain the herbs specified on their labels.
Moreover, many of these supplements included potential allergens which were not identified in the ingredients list.

Applying Basic Physics to Climate

Applying Basic Physics to Climate · Science Speak:
"A mistake in climate model architecture changes everything.
Heat trapped by increasing carbon dioxide just reroutes to space from water vapor instead.
The scare over carbon dioxide was just due to a simple modelling error.
A whole category of feedbacks was omitted, which greatly exaggerated the calculated sensitivity to carbon dioxide.
Main Messages
The scientists who believe in the carbon dioxide theory of global warming do so essentially because of the application of “basic physics” to climate, by a model that is ubiquitous and traditional in climate science.
This model is rarely named, but is sometimes referred to as the “forcing-feedback framework/paradigm.”
Explicitly called the “forcing-feedback model” (FFM) here, this pen-and-paper model estimates the sensitivity of the global temperature to increasing carbon dioxide..."

War Crimes of Imperial Japan: A Lesson In Moral Equivalence for Mr. Obama - Breitbart

War Crimes of Imperial Japan: A Lesson In Moral Equivalence for Mr. Obama - Breitbart:

"He somehow forgot to mention the evils perpetrated by Imperial Japan or the unspeakable suffering it inflicted upon POWs and civilians who fell into its clutches.

Let’s correct that oversight, to help the President understand why moral equivalence is the dim refuge of lazy minds, and equating American troops with the Axis forces they defeated is an outrage.

Pearl Harbor

We can start with the one everybody knows about: the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. That was a war crime, Mr. Obama, as very clearly stated in the relevant international laws of the day. It was accompanied by equally illegal bombings against Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Philippines, as part of a very deliberate Japanese strategy. In Hiroshima, Obama’s sole criticism of the Empire of Japan was some mumbled mush about “mistakes of the past,” and that wasn’t even exclusively directed at the Japanese. Nothing they did was a mistake."
