Do we really understand the meaning of Independence Day?  Do we even care to understand what was taking place 240 years ago and the events which led to such an extraordinary document? 

Families, friends and countrymen must have faced a great divide.  Do you remain loyal to your oppressor; the one who provides for you but keeps you enslaved or do you break free and live with uncertainty and the ability to forge your own path?  Freedom demands responsibility.  It is not the responsibility of the government to provide the citizens with their daily necessities and desires.
 
The colonist didn't ask for their independence or freedom; they declared it.  They declared to the world why it was necessary to break ties with Great Britain. This was not a decision which was taken lightly.  “Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.”   The Declaration of Independence.    

After declaring their independence, they listed their grievances so the world would understand what led them to break free.  “The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States.  To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.”  The Declaration of Independence.

The very first injury and usurpation is a noticeable reflection to our present day.  The Declaration of Independence states,.....

The Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, by Armand-Dumaresq, (c. 1873) which has been hanging in the White House since the late 1980s.
The date that the Declaration was signed has long been the subject of debate. 
Within a decade after the event, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams all wrote that the Declaration had been signed by Congress on July 4, 1776.[1] 
This seemed to be confirmed by the signed copy of the Declaration, which is dated July 4. 
Additional support was provided by the Journals of Congress, the official public record of the Continental Congress. 
When the proceedings for 1776 were first published in 1777, the entry for July 4, 1776, stated that the Declaration was engrossed (the official copy was handwritten) and signed on that date.[2]
In 1796, signer Thomas McKean disputed that the Declaration had been signed on July 4, pointing out that some signers were not then present, including several who were not even elected to Congress until after that date.[3] 
"[N]o person signed it on that day nor for many days after", he later wrote.[4] 
Although Jefferson and Adams disagreed with McKean, his claim gained support when the Secret Journals of Congress were published in 1821.[5] 
The Secret Journals contained two previously unpublished entries about the Declaration. The entry for July 19 reads:
Resolved That the Declaration passed on the 4th be fairly engrossed on parchment with the title and stile of "The unanimous declaration of the thirteen united states of America" & that the same when engrossed be signed by every member of Congress.[6]
The entry for August 2 stated:
The declaration of Independence being engrossed & compared at the table was signed by the Members.[7]

In 1884, historian Mellen Chamberlain argued that these entries indicated that the famous signed version of the Declaration had been created following the July 19 resolution, and had not been signed by Congress until August 2.[8] 
Historian John Hazelton confirmed in 1906 that many of the signers had not been present in Congress on July 4, that the fifty-six signers had never been together as a group, and that some delegates must have added their signatures even after August 2.[9] 
While it is possible that Congress signed a document on July 4 that has since been lost, historians do not think that this is likely.[10]..."

But there is a much older “old news” story about Trump that has now resurfaced — a story that paints a highly accurate portrait of the real Donald Trump — the guy who has no time for racism and anti-Semitism and stood up in public to fight both.
The story, linked by a group calling itself Zionists for Trump, was published in the Wall Street Journal — in 1997.
It revolves around Trump’s purchase and operation of the famous Mar-a-Largo estate, built in the 1920s by Post Cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post.
Trump had recently purchased the sprawling, seaside estate and turned it into a club. 
This being located in upscale Palm Beach, Florida, there were other prestigious clubs in the area, clubs that catered to the old order of upper crust Palm Beach society.
The problem?
Quietly, these other clubs had long barred Jews and African Americans — which is to say they practiced a quiet but steely racism.
The Zionists for Trump headline:
The WSJ story that is linked focuses on the battles Trump faced as a new arrival to Palm Beach, including his new competition with the social clubs of the old order.
The story, which quotes Abe Foxman, the longtime head of the Anti-Defamation League, says, in part, the following:
Mr. Trump also has resorted to the courts to secure his foothold here, and many residents wince at the attention his legal battles with the town have drawn — to the town in general, and to the admission practices at some of Palm Beach’s older clubs in particular.
…The culture clash began to approach a climax last fall, when Mr. Trump’s lawyer sent members of the town council a copy of the film “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” a film that deals with upper-class racism.
Mr. Trump then approached the town council about lifting the restrictions that had been placed on the club.
He also asked some council members not to vote on the request because their membership in other clubs created a conflict of interest.
Last December, after the council refused to lift the restrictions, Mr. Trump filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Palm Beach, alleging that the town was discriminating against Mar-a-Lago, in part because it is open to Jews and African-Americans. 
The suit seeks $100 million in damages.
… Mr. Foxman seems pleased that Mr. Trump has elevated the issue of discriminatory policies at social clubs.
“He put the light on Palm Beach,” Mr. Foxman says.
“Not on the beauty and the glitter, but on its seamier side of discrimination.
It has an impact.”
In recent weeks, Mr. Foxman says, the league has received calls from Jewish residents telling of how Palm Beach clubs are changing. Locals concur that in the past year, organizations such as the Bath and Tennis Club have begun to admit Jewish patrons.
The Palm Beach Civic Association, which for many years was believed to engage in discriminatory behavior, this month named a Jewish resident as its chief officer.
In other words?
In other words, long before he was running for president, there was Donald Trump battling racism and anti-Semitism in Palm Beach society.

"Last month, Business Insider ran a list of 13 things parents can do to turn their child into a successful adult. 
The first item on the list was to make a child do chores.
Given the fact that only 28 percent of parents require their children to do chores, it seems that we’re destined for a generation of unsuccessful adults.
And according to recent statements by pediatrician Deborah Gilboa, children who don’t do chores will not only be unsuccessful in material achievements, they will also be unsuccessful in the area of moral character.

Furthermore, Dr. Gilboa notes that parents who worry chores will make their children unhappy are barking up the wrong tree:

Another disturbing aspect of the trial against the Blind Sheikh and his fellow jihadists was the character witnesses who testified for the defense. 
Most of these people were moderate, peaceful Muslim Americans who would no more commit terrorist acts than the rest of us. 
But when questions about Islamic doctrine would come up—“What does jihad mean?” “What is sharia?” “How might sharia apply to a certain situation?”—these moderate, peaceful Muslims explained that they were not competent to say.
In other words, for the answers, you’d have to turn to Islamic scholars like the Blind Sheikh.
Now, understand: there was no doubt what the Blind Sheikh was on trial for.
And there was no doubt that he was a terrorist—after all, he bragged about it.
But that did not disqualify him, in the minds of these moderate, peaceful Muslims, from rendering authoritative opinions on the meaning of the core tenets of their religion. 
No one was saying that they would follow the Blind Sheikh into terrorism—but no one was discrediting his status either..."

"As thorough as the Transportation Security Administration screeners may be as they rifle through your belongings, the agency isn’t performing where it counts.
In a series of trials, the Department of Homeland Security was able to smuggle fake explosives, weapons and other contraband past airport screeners in major cities across the country, according to ABC News.
Officials briefed on the Homeland Security Inspector General’s investigation told the station that the TSA failed 67 out of 70 tests conducted by the department’s Red Teams — undercover passengers tasked with identifying weaknesses in the screening process, NJ.com reports.
During the tests, DHS agents each tried to bring a banned item past TSA screeners. 
They succeeded 95 percent of the time.
The internal investigation was designed to find the TSA’s most egregious vulnerabilities.
The TSA has said Red Team agents are “super terrorists” who “push the boundaries of our people, processes, and technology,” but DHS officials told ABC the test results were frustrating at the very least..."

The online hook-up site Ashley Madison is reportedly overrun by fake accounts.
Most men are real users, but most of the accounts claiming to represent women apparently are fake.
The dating app Tinder also has fake user accounts set up to lure real users off the app and onto another site or app where they can be scammed with cons, identity thieves or malware, according to researchers at Symantec and Panda Security.
Many of these fake accounts are used by spambots, which reportedly imitate the speech patterns of flirtatious women, and sometimes men.
Another reason to create fake accounts is to post phony online reviews.
Amazon recently filed lawsuits against three sellers for using sock puppet accounts to post fake reviews.
They posed as consumers but were in fact "reviewing" their own products.
And these sellers were allegedly prolific—some 30 to 45 percent of the companies' reviews were fake. The lawsuits are nothing new, according to Amazon, which claims to have sued more than 1,000 fake-review posters.
