"In a few of our blog posts we’ve mentioned the statistic that 32 million (1 in 7) adults in the U.S. are considered “functionally illiterate.”
There have been some questions about the meaning of this mysterious term “functionally illiterate,” so I have provided something in the way of an explanation below.
The most frequently referenced definition of “functional literacy” is from UNESCO’s conference in 1978:
“A person is functionally literate who can engage in all those activities in which literacy is required for effective functioning of his group and community and also for enabling him to continue to use reading, writing and calculation for his own and the community’s development.”
The UNESCO definition implies that a functionally literate person possesses a literacy level that equips him or her to flourish in society.
A functionally illiterate person, on the other hand, may be able to perform very basic reading and writing, but cannot do so at the level required for many societal activities and jobs.   
What does functional illiteracy look like? ...
Last year, a CNN article also pointed out that there are many college athletes are functionally illiterate.
Indeed, it’s been estimated that 19% of high school graduates fall into that category.

A person living in a rural, agrarian community in the developing world may be able to accomplish most daily tasks without advanced reading skills.
Someone who lives in an urban environment with a strong reliance on technology must have a much higher literacy level to complete even simple tasks.
Functional illiteracy is not limited to those on the fringes of society.
Major U.S. corporations such as Ford and Motorola have sponsored remedial reading programs to bring their employees up to a functional level of literacy.” ..."

"As Republican Party delegates head to Cleveland to nominate a presidential candidate, most are probably unaware that the convention is being hosted by a taxpayer-funded hotel, the Hilton Cleveland Downtown.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the hotel is actually a government project, owned by Cuyahoga County via an arrangement with an entity known as a port authority. (Some GOP legislators have been promoting one in Michigan as well.)
According to the Journal, taxpayers are liable for the debt this entity incurred to create the $276 million facility.
ForTheRecord says: The taxpayer-subsidized facilities won’t seem unusual to some Michigan GOP delegates. Detroit and other Michigan cities have seen flashy projects that received subsidies in the name of economic development.
For example, four years ago, Michigan’s Legislature voted to greenlight a government-subsidized hockey arena project for the Detroit Red Wings.
The multi-venue venture — which also includes a hotel — is being financed with $260 million in taxpayer funds.
The facility was hailed by Gov. Rick Snyder as “a project that will help revitalize Detroit.”
Previous flashy projects in Detroit also have introduced with hopeful promises."

After the attack, instead of getting justice, the victim’s family has been abused and targeted by law enforcement and medical authorities as if they were the criminals.
The mother cannot get copies of the medical records of her own child, or transcripts of 9-1-1 calls made on the day of the attack.
In examining notes taken of their conversations with the victim’s mother, I was taken aback by how contemptuous they are of her.
They talk down to her, as if she were the perpetrator, not the mother of the victim of this monstrous attack.
It is outrageous.
And it gets worse.
The supposedly seven-year-old rapist who put his penis in the girl’s mouth, urinated on her and in her mouth, and who reportedly owned the blue pocket knife that he used to threaten her, was never even removed from his home.
That family still lives next door to the victim. 
For the longest time, the attacker wasn’t even limited in his access to the community’s children; now he must be supervised by someone 14 years old or older.
When they stipulated this, the court had to have been aware that the boy who videotaped the rape was 14.
This a gross insult against this victimized family — and a direct result of a judge’s decision.
Meanwhile, the neighbor of the family who caught the perpetrators in the act, an elderly woman known to all as “Grandma Jo,” has been living in constant terror since she first happened upon the grisly scene. 
She has been stalked by the Iraqi family of the seven-year-old attacker.
Her apartment is back-to-back with theirs; they peer into her windows and pace back and forth in front of her apartment in a clearly menacing manner.
...The prosecuting attorney has gone out of his way to imply that this rape was false information. 
His interviews have led the media and public officials to deny clear facts of the case.
The U.S. Attorney for Idaho even vowed to charge anyone who made false statements about the perps.
The Hamas-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has whined that the case has become “a lightning rod for anti-Muslim, and anti-refugee sentiments...”

"In its 2016 Long-Term Budget Outlook, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) warns that federal debt is on an unsustainable path. 
Under current law, federal debt is now projected to reach 141 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) within 30 years. 
Unless policymakers act, CBO concludes that rising debt could jeopardize long-term economic growth, crowd out critical public investments, reduce policymakers’ flexibility to respond to unforeseen events, and raise the risk of a fiscal crisis.

The long-term budget outlook has deteriorated significantly since last year, when CBO projected debt would reach 111 percent of GDP in 30 years under current law. This deterioration stems largely from the enactment of legislation at the end of 2015 that made a number of temporary tax provisions permanent.

In the new report, CBO finds that:

• Federal debt is projected to climb to 141 percent of GDP under current law by 2046.
• Rising debt is a result of a structural imbalance between revenues and spending: under current law, spending growth, which is fueled primarily by the aging of the population and growing healthcare costs, significantly outpaces the projected growth in revenues.
• As the debt grows and interest rates rise, interest costs are projected to increase rapidly: by 2022, they could exceed what the federal government has historically spent on R&D, infrastructure, and education combined, and could exceed them by more than two times by 2046. In fact, over the next 10 years, the federal government will spend $5.8 trillion on interest.
• Rising debt will harm our economy and slow the growth of productivity and wages. On our current path, the annual income loss for a 4-person family would be $12,000 by 2046, on average.

...The National Debt Is on an Unsustainable Path

CBO estimates that federal debt, which is already at high levels, will climb significantly over the next 30 years. In CBO’s latest projections, debt is expected to climb from 75 percent of GDP in 2016 to 141 percent of GDP in 2046, based on current law.

Debt at those levels would be unprecedented. 
Over the past 50 years, debt has averaged only 39 percent of GDP and, as recently as 2007, it was as low as 35 percent of GDP. 
Since 1790, our debt has never exceeded 100 percent of GDP, except for a brief time during World War II when it peaked at 106 percent, after which the debt fell rapidly as a share of GDP..."

In an article for ‘Wear Your Voice’, an “intersectional feminist media” outlet, Shackelford says that she finds the presence of white people at Black Lives Matter rallies “triggering,” and that black people are “frightened” by whites, adding that their roles should be confined to acting as human “buffers against the police”.

“Why are you going to a protest when you’re the oppressor?” asks Shackelford, adding, “WHITE PEOPLE ARE KILLING US. So when I see white people show up to rally excited and smiling, ready to march like it’s a hobby — I’m disgusted and absolutely fucking livid….I’m ready to fight.”

Decrying the fact that white people are promoting a message of love and unity in the spirit of Martin Luther King, Shackelford complains that, “White people are 400 years too fucking late for a round of applause for a damn tweet with a hashtag, or for showing up to a damn rally.”

She then pushes the demented dogma that white people living today owe blacks “reparations” for slavery (only 1.4 percent of white Americans owned black slaves at the height of slavery).

“Nothing you have is yours. Let me be clear: Nothing you have is yours. Also, Let me be see through: Reparations are not donations, because we are not your charity, tax write off, or good deed for the day. You are living off of stolen resources, stolen land, exploited labor, appropriated culture and the murder of our people. Nothing you have is yours,” writes Shackelford.

“Y’all spent hundreds of years selling, mutilating, raping and beating our bodies and labor but you think money doesn’t matter to our freedom and liberation? Cute. Write me a check for this shade because it comes with 400 years of trauma,”she adds.

Shackelford wants white people to give blacks money so that they can buy cellphones, laptops and land, asserting, “Be ready to write checks and give up your car keys.”

She then includes a link to her personal Paypal account at the end of the article asking people to send money to support her “emotional and intellectual labor.”

“Whiteness operates in a way that means that using your privilege “for good” often requires Black folks to still be a position to be “saved” or “in need.” We don’t need white saviorism. We don’t need white people to speak for us. We don’t even really need white people to show up to rallies. We need our reparations, we need intentional disruption that involves high risk and we need y’all to stop playing,” concludes Shackelford, while also straying into extremist rhetoric by asking whites, “Are you willing to kill for us?”

Shackelford describes herself as a “queer, nonbinary Black fat femme writer, artist, and cultural producer,” because of course she does.

In some of her other articles, she chastises black men for dating white women, whines about the “backlash” she gets for being “fat and visible” and complains about the “body positivity” movement being too “white”..."

It is no surprise that the Election 2016 debate about refugees should have begun in earnest again after the slaughter in Nice.

But, as everyone focuses on security screening, I want to repeat again that this is about numbers.  

The Tunisian killer would not have been stopped by security screening.  

He was just one of tens of thousands of Muslims living in France because France never said NO! to more Muslim immigration.

The bottom line is that there is a threshold that is crossed once the Muslim population reaches a certain point where Islamists become emboldened and energized.  
France is there, so are many other European countries.  
We don’t want to get there, but it is coming fast. The election of Hillary Clinton will assure that America will cross that threshold too!

On "Fox and Friends Weekend" this morning, Sebastian Gorka said it's been somewhat surprising to be President Obama and many of our allies declare their support for Erdogan.
Gorka explained Erdogan is soley to blame this attempted coup, as his rule has become increasingly authoritarian, with a government shake-up and a crackdown on dissidents and opposition media.
"He's taken one of the most successful Muslim nations of the 20th century and turned it - or tried to turn it - into a fundamentalist state," Gorka said.
He added that Erdogan has taking control in ways that were undemocratic, not to mention facilitating the rise of ISIS in Syria.
Why is the U.S. on the side of an "Islamist autocrat?" Tucker Carlson asked.
Gorka said that when given the choice between the right thing and the wrong thing, the Obama administration has chosen the wrong thing ten out of ten times.
"Whether you look at Russia, Syria, Libya, Iran, the track record of this administration - President Obama, Hillary Clinton - has always been 'go with the people you shouldn't be supporting, and diss and ignore our friends and our allies.'"

"When a city fails to properly fund employee pensions in the year they are earned, it creates an unfunded liability that will require more money later to backfill the obligation.
Since municipalities have limited budgets, they typically cut from police, fire, and other community services to pay the deferred pension costs.
Flint is one example out of many.
The cost of catching up on past pension underfunding has skyrocketed, and the city now pays $20.4 million every year — a 50 percent increase since 2010.
Filling this hole now consumes 42 percent of Flint’s general fund budget.
But some local governments have managed to contain these costs.
Bloomfield Township closed its defined benefit system to new hires on April 1, 2005. 
It now offers the 401(k) defined contribution benefit that has become standard in private sector workplaces.
Township Supervisor Leo Savoie served on the board of trustees in 2004.
He said the board moved to shift new employees out of the pension system to get a handle on long-term debt.
“We looked at how sustainable our benefit package was, and in order to make it viable and to keep legacy costs from crippling the community, we needed to switch from the defined benefit plan to the defined contribution plan,” he said.
By closing the defined benefit system, Bloomfield Township capped its unfunded pension liabilities. 
The city then borrowed $80.3 million by issuing 20-year pension obligation bonds to set the cost of already-earned pension benefits at around $6 million per year.
Savoie said if the city had not reformed its pensions, the defined benefit system would have cost $10 million to $13 million per year, and the city would have incurred a deficit of $5 million to $8 million per year.
This would have choked off funding to essential government services such as police and fire.
The city has 153 police and fire department employees..."

• So confronted with this failure of our elite who were elected to guide the country across nationals and internationals dangers, how astonishing is it if paramilitary groups are organizing themselves to retaliate?

• In France, the global elites made a choice. They decided that the "bad" voters in France were unreasonable people too stupid to see the beauties of a society open to people who often who do not want to assimilate, who want you to assimilate to them, and who threaten to kill you if you do not.
• Similarly, the British took the first tool that was given to them to express their disappointment at living in a society they did not like anymore. They did not vote to say: "Kill all these Muslims who are transforming my country or stealing my job or soaking up my taxes". They were just protesting a society that a global elite had begun to transform without their consent.
• The global elite made a choice: they took the side against their own old and poor because those people did not want to vote for them any longer. They also made a choice not to fight Islamism because Muslims vote collectively for this global elite.

"We are on the verge of a civil war." 
That quote did not come from a fanatic or a lunatic. 
No, it came from head of France's homeland security, the DGSI (Direction générale de la sécurité intérieure), Patrick Calvar. 
He has, in fact, spoken of the risk of a civil war many times. 
On July 12^th, he warned a commission of members of parliament, in charge of a survey about the terrorist attacks of 2015, about it...
The main reason is the failure of the state.

4. Is the Civil War Inevitable? Yes!

If the establishment does not want to see that civil war was already declared by extremist Muslims first -- if they do not want to see that the enemy is not the Front National in France, the AfD in Germany, or the Sweden Democrats -- but Islamism in France, in Belgium, in Great Britain, in Sweden -- then a civil war will happen.

France, like Germany and Sweden, has a military and police strong enough to fight against an internal Islamist enemy. But first, they have to name it and take measures against it. If they do not -- if they leave their native citizens in despair, with no other means than to arm themselves and retaliate – yes, civil war is inevitable.
