Study: Obama issued $743B in regs

Study: Obama issued $743B in regs | TheHill:
"Since President Obama took office in 2009, the federal government has issued 600 major regulations totaling $743 billion, according to a new study from the conservative American Action Forum.
The Obama administration issues an average of 81 major rules, those with an economic impact of at least $100 million, on a yearly basis, the study found.
Image result for obama regulationsThat’s about one major rule every four to five days, or, as the American Action Forum puts it, one rule for every three days that the federal government is open.
“It is a $2,294 regulatory imposition on every person in the United States,” wrote Sam Batkins, director of regulatory policy at the American Action Forum, who conducted the study.
At the current pace of rulemaking, the American Action Forum estimates the Obama administration will issue a total 641 major rules before the president leaves office, bringing the nation’s regulatory bill to $813 billion.
By contrast, President George W. Bush issued 426 major rules during his tenure in the White House.
Public interest groups often dispute studies from the American Action Forum, which they say do not accurately take into account the economic benefits of regulations."

Ex-CIA Agent Outlines ‘High Level of Deceptive Behaviors’ Exhibited by Obama Regarding $400M Iran Payment | TheBlaze.com:

"A former CIA agent has charged that President Barack Obama displayed “deceptive behaviors” while addressing a secret $400 million cash payment to Iran.

Phil Houston, CEO of QVerity and a former CIA agent, and his colleague Don Tennant wrote in a piece published in Law Newz on Tuesday that “behavior exhibited” by Obama while he addressed the payment “suggests that it was almost certainly a precondition for the prisoners’ release.”"

Adjusting state incomes for taxes and price levels may change our perceptions of which US states are poor or rich

Adjusting state incomes for taxes and price levels may change our perceptions of which US states are poor or rich - AEI | Carpe Diem Blog » AEIdeas:
$100 Map
"Earlier this week, The Tax Foundation published the map above that accompanies the article “The Real Value of $100 in Each State.”
...The four states with the highest RPPs and where the value of $100 is the lowest are Hawaii ($86.06), New York($86.73), New Jersey ($87.34) and California ($89.05), and all of those states have housing costs that are more than one-third above the national average.
The five states with the lowest RPPs and where the value of $100 is the highest are Mississippi ($115.21), Arkansas ($114.29), South Dakota ($114.16), Alabama ($114.03), and West Virginia ($113.12)...
The Tax Foundation makes a couple of key points:
1. Regional price differences are strikingly large; real purchasing power is 36 percent greater in Mississippi than it is in the District of Columbia. In other words: by this measure, if you have $50,000 in after tax income in Mississippi, you would have to have after-tax earnings of $68,000 in the District of Columbia just to afford the same overall standard of living. Some states, like North Dakota, have high incomes without high prices. Adjusting incomes for price level can substantially change our perceptions of which states are truly poor or rich.
2. Many policies – like minimum wage, public benefits, and tax brackets – are denominated in dollars. But with different price levels in each state, the amounts aren’t equivalent in purchasing power [see related discussion below].

LIBERTY REVIEW

LIBERTY REVIEW:

A History Lesson

By Tammy Derouin

In today’s world, I don’t get many opportunities to combine my love of history with historical truth on the big screen.  Dinesh D’Souza has done for history and truth what George Lucas and Steven Spielberg did for sci-fi and adventure; he makes it come alive. You feel the pain, glory, betrayal and the triumph of the people and events which make up our history.  In D’Souza’s last film, America, he challenged our imaginations.  What if the American Revolution failed?  What if George Washington would have died in battle?  Thankfully, it was a success and many generations have known the blessings of liberty.

Today we face a very real threat, a possibility I would have never imagined possible.  Will America fall?   Many individuals have leading roles in this grand production being orchestrated.  These characters, which are all too real, wish to produce the greatest tragedy of the modern era, the collapse of the United States of America.  Hillary’s America is beyond a political movie, it’s a history lesson.  Sadly, many people will not attend this highly educational film.  It will be their loss which will ultimately be our loss.

The world of make believe is created for our entertainment.  While the stories may be fictional, the classic battle of good versus evil remains the same.  The heroes and villains are easy to identify....

This is BIG!!-----Michigan’s Pension Underfunding Problem

Michigan’s Pension Underfunding Problem [Mackinac Center]:
"Pension systems across Michigan are facing a crisis that threatens workers, retirees, businesses, taxpayers and residents who rely on public services.
For decades, state legislators and governors, Republican and Democrat, have promised billions more in pensions than has been saved to pay for them.
Last year, the state put roughly $2 billion towards pension benefits of its largest pension system and unfunded liabilities still grew.
This repeated underfunding has led to large liabilities that will require severe cuts to public services..."

A short, politically incorrect climate conversation

A short, politically incorrect climate conversation:
"I recently sat next to a woman on a flight from Houston which began with pleasantries regarding the purposes of our trip.
When asked whether mine was for business or pleasure, I said that it combined a bit of both.
I explained that I was on my way to do a media interview.
That led her to ask what it was that I do, to which I answered that I’m in the habit of writing quite a lot about topics that vary considerably, but frequently address stuff about climate and energy . . . often many politically incorrect aspects.
She asked, “You aren’t like that guy in Ohio that doesn’t believe in climate change, are you?”
I responded that I don’t personally know anyone who doesn’t think that climate changes, but there may be one in Ohio that I have yet to meet.
Seems to me that climate change has been going on for quite a while . . . billions of years in fact.
Global temperatures were at least just as warm about 2,000 years ago during the “Roman Warm Period” when popular fashions featured cool-looking sandals and togas.
Conditions were much the same again during the “Medieval warm period” about a thousand years later....
She: “...How can anyone deny the influence of the record levels of CO2 we are polluting the atmosphere with?” (Lots more "fun with morons" here!)
....That abruptly ended our chat.
My seatmate promptly returned to reading a Rolling Stone magazine Bernie Sanders feature.
The rest of that flight was very quiet.
I even got some sleep."

Paul Albaugh: Death and Hillary Clinton

Paul Albaugh: Death and Hillary Clinton — The Patriot Post:
"For as long as the Clintons have been in the national spotlight, people linked to them have turned up dead.
We’re sure that’s only the stuff of mythology among the “vast right-wing conspiracy,” but this week brings news of more of the same.
Despite FBI and Leftmedia attempts to keep Americans as uninformed as possible about Hillary Clinton’s history of corruption and lies, there is new information about the death of an Iranian nuclear scientist named Shahram Amiri.
Normally, the death of a foreigner wouldn’t catch the attention of many Americans.
But in this case, Amiri was in contact with Clinton via email, and the circumstances and timing of his death are more than suspicious...
...Did Clinton’s emails seal this man’s fate?
Image result for The Clinton DeathListAs National Review’s Jim Geraghty notes, “[I]t’s unnerving to see she was discussing such material on an insecure system. We don’t know for certain that the Iranians had successfully hacked into Clinton’s server — as FBI Director Comey said, hackers are good at covering their tracks — but it seems foolish to assume Tehran could not. Friendly references to Amiri in private email by Hillary and her staff would destroy his claims to his captors that he wasn’t voluntarily helping American intelligence.”
There are other untimely, mysterious deaths in the last six weeks as well — all with ties to the Clintons.
Last week, there were two deaths within two days.
The first was a prominent Clinton critic, researcher and reporter for the American Free Press named Victor Thorn.
He was found in his home, dead of a gunshot wound to the head, in what has been reported as a suicide.
It was his 54th birthday.
The second was a Bernie Sanders supporter named Shawn Lucas, who was serving the Democrat National Committee and former DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz with a class action lawsuit for alleged fraud and rigging the primary election in favor of Hillary Clinton.
He was found dead on Aug. 2, on the floor of his bathroom.
There are several others who have died strange and untimely deaths with unsatisfactory explanation. But the common denominator is that they were somehow tied to or knew something about the Clintons and had either reported or were about to blow the whistle on their wrongdoings.
It feels like the 1990s all over again, when Vince Foster and numerous others met an untimely and suspicious demise.
This is the Hillary Clinton that the Leftmedia doesn’t want you to know about.
The same woman who recently said that she may have “short circuited” her recent email explanation..."

Why did Rio's Olympic diving pool turn green overnight?

Why did Rio's Olympic diving pool turn green overnight? | FOX Sports
On Monday, the men in the synchronized platform diving event were dropping 10 meters into lovely, crystal blue water - the kind you'd find at any local pool, country club or Vegas party deck around the world. On Tuesday, it looked like they were diving into the creek you once vacationed at with your friend's parents but never swam in because, well, it looked like garbage water.
Compare Monday...

... to Tuesday.

If you think it's a different filter or lighting or some TV trick, take a look at the lap pool behind the divers. In Monday's picture, it's the same color as the diving well. On Tuesday's it's - well, it ain't.
Underwater looked just as unappealing.

How Much Oil Is in Storage Globally? Take a Guess

How Much Oil Is in Storage Globally? Take a Guess - WSJ:
"SINGAPORE—The historic fall in oil prices has created a pileup of inventories, much of it stashed in tanks in the U.S. and other industrialized countries that are committed to disclosing the latest tally, but millions of barrels of oil are flowing to locations outside the scope of industry trackers.
Some countries, such as Russia and China, choose not to report their oil-storage levels.
And traders and oil companies that park supertankers have no obligation to make public their supply. This makes for more cryptic and volatile oil markets.
How much crude is in these locations, and how quickly it can be resold into the market, can affect oil prices.
“The data itself is so inconsistent,” said Harish Sundaresh, portfolio manager and commodities strategist for Loomis, Sayles & Co., which manages $240 billion.
“In countries like Nigeria, Brazil, Angola, it’s not trustable.”
Keeping track of inventories has become more complicated as developing countries store and consume more oil..."

Arkansas rape victim comes forward after 40 years to call Hillary Clinton a ‘liar’

Arkansas rape victim comes forward after 40 years to call Hillary Clinton a ‘liar’ | Daily Mail Online:
EXCLUSIVE: Child rape victim comes forward for the first time in 40 years to call Hillary Clinton a 'liar' who defended her rapist by smearing her, blocking evidence and callously laughing that she knew he was guilty
Shelton's (pictured above as a child) rapist's defenses lawyer was now-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton
  • 'Hillary Clinton is not for women and children,' says Kathy Shelton, 54, who was 12 years old when she was raped by Thomas Alfred Taylor in Arkansas
  • Clinton was the rapist's defense lawyer, pleading him down to 'unlawful fondling of a minor'
  • The 41-year-old drifter served less than a year in prison
  • The plea came after Clinton was able to block the admission of forensic evidence that linked her client to the crime
  • Shelton says she's furious that Clinton has been portraying herself as a lifelong advocate of women and girls on the campaign trail
  • Clinton accused Shelton of 'seeking out older men' in the case and demanded that she undergo a grueling court-ordered psychiatric examination
  • The presidential candidate later laughed while discussing aspects of the case in a recently-unearthed audiotaped interview from the 1980s
