Pitt’s School of Social Work encouraged students to attend an anti-Trump rally, and encouraged professors to offer extra credit for students who attend.
The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work encouraged its professors to offer students extra credit to participate in an anti-Trump rally in downtown Pittsburgh.
On Thursday, students and faculty in Pitt’s School of Social Work received an email urging them to sign up for “A People’s Agenda for Change: National Day of Action” on Tuesday, November 29. 

The email, which Student Services Specialist and assistant to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Mary Patricia Elhattab sent, implored professors to give their students extra credit should they attend.
“This day is about taking a stand to say that Pittsburgh will not accept business as usual.” Tweet This
Lindsey Hern, a senior Social Work major, said that she receives a lot of similar, “one-sided” emails, and that she regularly feels alienated as one of the only conservatives in the department.
“It’s really ostracizing when your own department sanctions an event that is so exclusive to one set of students,” Hern told The Pitt Maverick.
The email also included information about free transportation from Pitt’s campus to downtown Pittsburgh for the rally..."

A planned meeting between president-elect Donald J. Trump and The New York Times appears to have fallen through, with Mr. Trump declaring on Twitter on Tuesday morning that he had canceled the gathering because the ground rules had been changed.

A spokeswoman for The Times responded that the paper had not changed the arrangements for the meeting and was not aware it had been canceled until reading Mr. Trump’s Twitter posts.

The Times said Mr. Trump’s team had asked on Monday to change the ground rules.

Mr. Trump was scheduled to meet on Tuesday at The New York Times building in Midtown with editors, reporters, columnists and the newspaper’s publisher. A short off-the-record session was planned, followed by an on-the-record meeting.

It all started with a segment on CNN’s The Lead which quoted prominent white nationalist figure Richard Spencer as wondering if Jews were actually people. 

CNN host Jim Sciutto said, “of Jews Spencer said, ‘one wonders if these people are people at all, or instead soulless golem.'”
“That is an alt right leader Richard Spencer talking about Jews,” Sciutto added. CNN then had a panel with RealClearPolitics’ Rebecca Berg and The Boston Globe’s Matt Viser with the chyron “ALT-RIGHT FOUNDER QUESTIONS IF JEWS ARE PEOPLE.”
Except, Spencer did not make those remarks about Jews and was instead talking about political consultants on television.

When Pence appeared in the audience of the November 18 performance at the Richard Rodgers Theater, disruptors in the audience immediately launched into booing of the newly elected vice president. The VP-elect sat through the performance but was ushered out by the Secret Service just before the ending, to avoid the crowds trying to leave the theater.

Because he left early for security reasons, Pence missed the hectoring from the stage when the cast halted their routine to lecture Pence on “diversity” in remarks written by the production’s writer and director, Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, backed by the city council, jumped into the fray and passed what was then described as sweeping pension reform and patted themselves on the back for a job well done.
...Good thing they got that sorted out, eh?

So, four years down the line, how well have those reforms worked out?

• Chris Christie has spent a huge amount of his term fighting the bloated pension system in New Jersey. 
• Cities from Cincinnati to Billings, Montana, Charleston, Portland and Chicago (which is at the top of the list) comprise the dozens of municipalities with the most massive unfunded pension debts hanging over their heads.

On "Fox & Friends Weekend" this morning, Ericksen said that he supports citizens' right to protest, but this bill is targeting those who "take it to the next level."
"You have a right to protest. You do not have a right to do harm to people or personal property," Ericksen said. "This is intended to protect the citizens of my state and people around the country from those that get out of control or from the organizers of these protests that get out of control."
He said the response to the bill has been "amazing," although some people have misunderstood it as an assault on the right to protest.
"You cannot do harm to other citizens in your protest. You can protest, wave the signs, do what you want, but once you cross that line and harm other people, that's where this type of legislation would come into play."
