What exactly is Cuomo worried about in terms of safety considerations… an earthquake? The last one to hit anywhere near here didn’t manage to knock over any lawn chairs. Is he perhaps worried about a tsunami? 

Take a look at where Indian Point is located. If a tsunami reaches that location you’ll have much bigger fish to fry because all of New York City will have been destroyed first.

And finally, let’s remember that Indian Point provides fully 25% of all the electricity consumed in the Big Apple and its suburbs. Where will the power come from to replace it?

A top news story is the vicious attack allegedly by four young blacks against a young white man on Chicago's West Side is top fare on Fox News, conservative talk radio, but in the Chicago Tribune Thursday's print edition the story was buried on page six of section one. Yep, page six.

The victim, a special needs person was beaten, slashed, bound and gagged, forced to drink toilet water, and was compelled to say "Fuck Donald Trump" and "Fuck white people."

Page six. This sad story belongs on the front page.

Here is more proof that real diversity is needed in newsrooms. Not just racial diversity, but newspapers such as the Tribune need to include reporters who didn't go to the same elite colleges, who regularly attend worship services, and who don't vote straight Democratic each general election.

The alleged attackers have been charge with kidnapping, hate crimes, and other offenses."

Senior Iranian officials late last week confirmed reports that the total amount of money paid to Iran over the past four years is in excess of $10 billion, a figure that runs counter to official estimates provided by the White House.

The 7.3-cent-per-gallon tax increase motorists began paying on Jan. 1 and the 20 percent increase in the vehicle registration tax are expected to cost road users an additional $460 million this year.
The money is dedicated to transportation funding — mostly to the roads, but also some for public transit.
Yet the state transportation budget will only have $160 million more this year for road repairs, not $460 million.

The study ranked Michigan’s elections as less democratic than those of Cuba, Iran and North Korea. It reports the perceptions of 726 election experts about the electoral integrity — or how ethical the democratic process is — in each state.
Michigan is one of several states that is ranked lower than some authoritarian countries.
Michigan’s Perception of Electoral Integrity index score, which the project complied by using survey methods and 49 measurements, was 57 out of 100.
The Great Lakes State was ranked ahead of ten other states, including Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
...“The criteria is subjective, and often ideological highly contested — for example, U.S. scores were lowered in the latest survey because of recent deregulation of the campaign finance in the United States — even though those who have argued for such deregulation believe it is a huge plus for democracy,” Smith continued..."

Actually Obama and his party, with the aid of what Instapundit has dubbed “democratic operatives with bylines” continue to make me sick of their lies and distortions of truth.

As for the death of ObamaCare, if past is prologue -- and with these folks it is -- we can expect the press will flood us with sob stories, because in a nation chock full of feelers, emotive accounts are more compelling than economics and logic. Remember when they were working our heartstrings to get it passed?

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter probably deserved a blue ribbon for her tale of a constituent who couldn’t afford dentures and had to use her dead sister’s as an example of why we needed ObamaCare (which incidentally doesn’t include dental coverage).

Sob stories are not the only way Obama’s administration “contorts reality “and masks”  “the consequences of its initiatives” says Victor Davis Hanson in an article well worth reading in its entirety. 

After outlining its many deceits, Hanson says why they do this:

Obama advanced an agenda to the left of that shared by most past presidents. Obamacare, the Benghazi catastrophe, the Iran deal, his strange stance toward radical Islam, and the Bergdahl swap were unpopular measures that required politically-driven recalibrations to escape American scrutiny.

Second, Obama’s team believes that the goals of fairness and egalitarianism more than justify the means of dissimulation by more sophisticated elites. Thus Gruber (“the stupidity of the American voter”) and Rhodes (“They literally know nothing”) employ deception on our behalf. Central to this worldview is that the American people are naive and easily manipulated, and thus need to be brought up to speed by a paternal administration that knows what is best for its vulnerable and clueless citizenry.

Such condescension is also why the administration never believes it has done anything wrong by hiding the facts of these controversies. Its players believe that because they did it all for us, the ensuing distasteful means will be forgotten once we finally progress enough to appreciate their enlightened ends.

This week, two incidents come to mind: the Chicago torture revelations and the claims about the Russians hacking our election. In both cases, once again, the Democratic handmaidens of the press played what helpful role they could.

"This may be the single most despicable act of media bias I have ever encountered.  It took a lot of effort and art for CBS Radio to put together an early report on the Chicago torture incident that was strictly factual, yet created the impression on listeners that a group of white Trump supporters had attacked a helpless mentally challenged black man.  Mediaite provides a transcript of what was reported last Thursday morning by a top-of-the hour broadcst distributed to radio stations across the country.

In the brief Thursday morning report– which attracted attention when a listener posted the clip on Reddit Friday– here’s how CBS characterized the attack:

"The viral video of a beating and knife attack in Chicago suggests the assault had racial overtones. CBS’s Dean Reynolds tells us the victim is described as a mentally-challenged teenager.

In the video he is choked and repeatedly called the n-word. His clothes are slashed and he is terrorized with a knife. His alleged captors repeatedly reference Donald Trump. Police are holding four people in connection with the attack. [Emphasis added by Mediaite]"

The report is technically correct, but widely misleading. By noting the attackers used the n-word during a racially-motivated attack while “referencing” Donald Trump, the clear implication is that the victim was black and his attackers were racist Trump fans.

...Now consider for a moment how difficult it must have been for CBS News employees to make themselves bulletproof (in their minds, at least) by being factual, yet create a counterfactual message in the minds of its listeners. This is the sort of lying that takes skill and practice..."

In 2013 our sins of emission totaled 10.8 billion tonnes of carbon; in 2014 the official estimate, in the annual paper published by le Quéré et al., was 10.9 billion tonnes:

It is debatable whether the true rate of emissions growth is anything like as small as 0.1 billion tonnes of carbon per year, given that China and now India are bringing coal-fired power stations onstream at a record rate. 
But the official storyline is that emissions growth has all but stopped. 

Nevertheless, emissions remain a very long way above any of IPCC’s CO2-stabilization scenarios.

...Yet the rate of global warming since 1990 – the most important of the “broad-scale features of climate change” that the models were supposed to predict – is now below half what the IPCC had then predicted..."
