Death By Government: The Primary Fact of the 20th Century

Death By Government: The Primary Fact of the 20th Century | Intellectual Takeout:
"The late RJ Rummel revealed a daunting truth: Four times the number of persons were murdered by their governments than killed in warfare.

It was in June 1996 that I picked up a book that, for all intents and purposes, changed my life: R.J. Rummel’s Death by Government (Transaction, 1994).
After purchasing the book, I devoured it on a flight from Houston to Indianapolis.
Every anti-Communist thought my mother had so rightly drilled into me as a child, every viewing of The Killing Fields (the work of art that inspired my entrance essay for and into the University of Notre Dame), and every Goldwater-esque aspect of my very soul seemed justified by the very existence of Death by Government
All my firms were confirmed.
Through this book, I came to what I regard as an inescapable but not well-accepted idea: state-sponsored murder is and was the primary fact of the twentieth century..."

You tax dollars at work?-----Profs pledge to 'use regular class time' to protest Trump

Profs pledge to 'use regular class time' to protest Trump
"A national “teach-in” movement is asking professors to set aside class time between Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the presidential inauguration to “protest” oppression and challenge “Trumpism.”
The movement, known as “Teach, Organize, Resist,” is set to kick-off on January 18, strategically “poised between Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the presidential inauguration” as an explicit means of “challenging Trumpism.”
“Use your regular class time to attend a panel with your students.”
“Transform your classrooms and commons into spaces of education that protest policies of violence, disenfranchisement, segregation, and isolationism,” the organizers urge educators on the movement’s homepage, clarifying elsewhere on the site that participation “is an opportunity to affirm the role of critical thinking and academic knowledge in challenging Trumpism.”

“On that day, we intend to teach about the agendas and policies of the new administration, be it the proposed dismantling of economic and environmental regulations or the threatened rollback of the hard-won rights that form the fragile scaffolding of American democracy,” a description for the teach-in explains, later accusing Trump of institutionalizing “white supremacy” and allegedly proposing the “expansion of state violence targeting people of color” and other marginalized groups.
...The movement, which has been spreading on social media under the hashtag “J18,” was started by “departments, centers, and collectives at UCLA,” but has since amassed the support of 18 other institutions, many of them public.
Professors at the University of California, Santa Barbara, for instance, are asking “all UCSB faculty to actively support” the teach-in, even suggesting that they “insert a note” about it in syllabi or “use your regular class time to attend a panel with your students...”

Lauer Admits to Weeping Over Biden Award

Lauer Admits to Weeping Over Biden Award | LifeZette:
"...NBC’s host of “The Today Show” Matt Lauer confessed Friday that he was so overcome with emotion that he “just burst out crying” when President Obama surprised Vice President Joe Biden by awarding him the Medal of Freedom Thursday.
...“So I’m glad there were no cameras in my apartment yesterday because I was just sitting there weeping,” Lauer gushed. “I just burst out crying when I saw that moment. It was incredible.”
As it turned out, Lauer was not alone in his show of emotion.
Andrea Mitchell, NBC News’s chief foreign affairs correspondent, admitted on MSNBC that she, too, was “in tears.”
“You know, every time I watch this — I’m just watching that ceremony — I was in tears,” Mitchell said..."

'Tolerant' educators exile Trump voters from campus

'Tolerant' educators exile Trump voters from campus: Glenn Reynolds:

Official safe spaces marginalize Republicans as the 'other' and turn universities into a joke.

One of the more amusing bits of fallout from last week’s election has been the safe-space response of many colleges and universities to the election of the “wrong” candidate. But on closer examination, this response isn’t really amusing. In fact, it’s downright mean.
Donald Trump’s substantial victory, when most progressives expected a Hillary Clinton landslide, came as a shock to many. That shock seems to have been multiplied in academe, where few people seem to know any Trump supporters — or, at least, any Trump supporters who’ll admit to it.

  • The response to the shock has been to turn campuses into kindergarten. The University of Michigan Law School announced a ”post-election self-care” event with “food" and "play,” including “coloring sheets, play dough (sic), positive card-making, Legos and bubbles with your fellow law students.” (Embarrassed by the attention, UM Law scrubbed the announcement from its website, perhaps concerned that people would wonder whether its graduates would require Legos and bubbles in the event of stressful litigation.)
  • Stanford emailed its students and faculty that psychological counseling was available for those experiencing “uncertainty, anger, anxiety and/or fear” following the election. So did the University of Michigan’s Flint campus.
  • Meanwhile, even the Ivy League wasn’t immune, with the University of Pennsylvania (Trump’s alma mater) creating a post-election safe space with puppies and coloring books:
Student Daniel Tancredi reported that the people who attended were “fearful” about the results of the election.
“For the most part, students just hung out and ate snacks and made small talk,” Tancredi told "The College Fix." “Of course, that was in addition to coloring and playing with the animals.”

GOP Rep Pushes Repeal of Gun-Free School Zones Act Under Trump - Breitbart

GOP Rep Pushes Repeal of Gun-Free School Zones Act Under Trump - Breitbart:

"Massie’s office put out a press release in which he observed, “Gun-free school zones are ineffective. They make people less safe by inviting criminals into target-rich, no-risk environments. Gun-free zones prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, and create vulnerable populations that are targeted by criminals.”

The Safe Student Act is backed by the NRA, Gun Owners of America, and the National Association for Gun Rights."

Top Democrat Keith Ellison Says Trump Brought “White Supremacy Back to White House”
Ellison made the comments at a DNC meeting on Friday.
Democrats are gathering this weekend in Phoenix, Arizona for a regional forum before the party elects a new chairperson in February.
During his speech on Friday night Ellison said Trump brought “white supremacy back to the White House.”
And this far left anti-Israel politician is the leading candidate to replace scandal-plagued Donna Brazile as party chair in February.

Ellison telling rally at DNC meeting that Trump has brought white supremacy back to WH
It’s obvious the Democrat Party’s plan to gain voters at this stage is to call all of their opponents racists and white supremacists.
That ought to work wonders for recruitment.
Keith Ellison is the top candidate for DNC Chairperson.
The Democrats will vote on a new chair at the end of February.

Congressional Republicans readying ‘bite-size’ bills to replace Obamacare – TheBlaze

Congressional Republicans readying ‘bite-size’ bills to replace Obamacare – TheBlaze:

"In a feat of either extraordinary bravery or ambitious overreach, House Speaker Paul Ryan is planning to eschew accepted congressional practices and, rather than replace Obamacare with one large, unwieldy replacement, will instead present a series of smaller bills attacking the problems of the Affordable Care Act one at a time."

Students In College Bible Class Get Trigger Warning, Permission To Skip Studying Crucifixion Of Jesus Christ

TWCTaxProf Blog:
"National Review, If You Are Too Triggered by Lessons About the Crucifixion, You Cannot Be a Religious Scholar:
Students in a Bible course at the University of Glasgow are being given trigger warnings before being shown images of the crucifixion — and permission to skip those lessons altogether if they are worried they’ll feel too uncomfortable.
Predictably, much of the conversation surrounding this has been focused on the cultural implications of the policy, and how it contributes to creating a generation of weak little snowflakes. ...
But the problems with this policy go far beyond the abstract cultural implications.
It’s also objectively, indisputably wrong on a logical level — because receiving credits for a class signifies that you have learned enough about the subject matter to earn those credits, and no student in an introductory Bible course could meet that qualification without having learned about the crucifixion..."

Invasion of Europe 2017: Prediction! Invasion will grow as there are too many Africans and not enough jobs

Invasion of Europe 2017: Prediction! Invasion will grow as there are too many Africans and not enough jobs « Refugee Resettlement Watch
"Lack of Jobs in Africa Could Spark Massive Migration to Europe
The economies of the developing world cannot keep pace with an increase in population, meaning millions of people from Africa will likely migrate to Europe, a new report has found.
migrant-boatsThe report, from the Geneva-based International Labour Organisation (ILO), states that the economies of developing nations in Arica, Asia, and South America cannot keep pace with the number of young people entering the workforce.
The result, especially in Africa, will mean that many are ready to migrate and look for jobs elsewhere – and their main target will likely be Europe Die Welt reports.
Don’t get these economic migrants confused with legitimate refugees.
They are not, but the open borders movement is going to call them all refugees/asylum seekers!
More here.
The only hope for Europe (and it may be too late) is for countries like France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands to elect leaders who are nationalists!

Obama’s legacy: A deeper party divide in America – TheBlaze

Obama’s legacy: A deeper party divide in America – TheBlaze:

"As President Barack Obama prepares to leave office next week, he’s busy crafting the narrative of his legacy, telling CBS “60 Minutes” in a soon-to-air interview that he believes he is the first modern president without a major scandal in his White House tenure.

While others would disagree with that assessment — there’s certainly room to discuss episodes such as the four American deaths in Benghazi and the payoff to Iran for the release of America hostages, for example — it’s hardly surprising that Obama would be seeking some positive defining administrative success now that it appears the GOP will immediately repeal and replace Obamacare."

In Illinois, Substitute Teaching For One Day Reaped Nearly $1 Million in Taxpayer-Funded Pension Money

In Illinois, Substitute Teaching For One Day Reaped Nearly $1 Million in Taxpayer-Funded Pension Money:
"In 2011, the Chicago Tribune exposed a pair of Illinois teacher union lobbyists, Stephen Preckwinkle and David Piccioli, who substitute taught for one day and stood to collect nearly $1 million in state teacher retirement pensions from a severely underfunded system.
The five Illinois pension systems have a $100
billion liability and the teachers fund may run out of money as early as 2029.
...A couple of weeks ago, we spotted Preckwinkle and Piccioli within a long list of 30 state retirees from the Illinois Federation of Teachers (private sector teachers union).
Sure enough, in 2014, Piccioli is receiving $30,564 and Preckwinkle $37,416 pensions (click here for their life expectancy pension payouts of nearly $1 million each).
The experience was a bit overwhelming, even for our seasoned team of forensic investigators..."
