Kelly lifted most of the restrictions imposed on Border Patrol agents under the previous administration and ordered Border Patrol agents expand their efforts to enforce laws against illegal border crossings. The order came in a memo obtained by Breitbart Texas from DHS officials and discontinued President Obama’s “catch and release” program known as the “Priority Enforcement Program” (PEP) enacted on November 20, 2014. The order leaves in place, President Obama’s deferred action programs for children brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents."

Not that long ago, most Americans understood that in order to secure the blessings of our liberty and to be able to pass it on to our posterity, we had to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare. These were all necessary orders to forming a more perfect union.

The words, “a more perfect union” not perfect union, were used in the Preamble of the Constitution. The founders knew that a perfect world did not exist. Attempting to create one would be futile but there was always room for improvement. Besides, by whose standards would perfection be determined?

The founders understood that happiness and prosperity could only be obtained by the individual. It was not the job of the government to determine the definition of happiness or success. It was, however, the job of the government to protect the rights of the people as set forth in the U.S. Constitution.

There was a time when our freedoms and liberties were highly valued and therefore, the story of our country and our system of government were actually taught to the next generation. Without the knowledge of our past and an understanding of what led to our founding, it would become too easy to take such basic freedoms for granted.

If you do not understand the value of something you hold, it becomes something which can be easily traded. In the quest for power, government is all too willing to take advantage of ignorance. It preys upon the uninformed and dangles promises, which no government can truly keep.

We are an exceptional nation because we are free. We are free because we stood up to tyranny and tied it down with the U.S. Constitution. Without the Constitution, we loose our exceptionalism, our freedom. We become just another nation of men;

"...Alan Linda's column about his experience sitting next to an overweight airplane passenger will be the last one he writes for the Fergus Falls Daily Journal.
The newspaper last week expressed regret for printing the column and said it had parted ways with Linda, an unpaid community columnist who has written the paper's "Prairie Spy" column for 30 years.
"I've gotten an overwhelmingly positive response over the decision," Tim Engstrom, the Daily Journal's editor and publisher, said Monday.
"People say it's the right thing to do."
In an editorial last week, the newspaper's editorial board explained the decision to cut ties with Linda, an Otter Tail County resident whose humorous columns have run in several other Minnesota newspapers over the years.
"Last Friday, his column was about sitting next to a larger person on an airplane," the board wrote. "In the column, he called the person 'fat' and went on to describe a lack of sympathy for the man's weight issue.
"Not only did this offend many of our readers, it offended us," the editorial said.
"Bullying others is not OK.
Body shaming is not OK. … The list goes on, but you get the picture. Let's debate the issues, not make personal attacks on people."
The staff made a bad decision in publishing Linda's column, the editorial said..."

Q: How did this idea of modeling obesity as a contagion come about?

K. E.: The first paper was published in 2007 by [Nicholas] Christakis and [James] Fowler. … They found that the obesity can be transmissible through social networks. During my Ph.D. course, I was working on mathematical modeling of infectious disease. When I read their paper, I thought, “I can apply my mathematical techniques to describe the obesity epidemic model.”

Q: In what way is obesity a “social contagion”?

D. T.: If you’re somebody who loves to go to the gym and loves to eat healthy, it’s unlikely that you’re going to draw in a circle of friends that love to smoke cigarettes and love to eat at fast food restaurants. You’re going to kind of surround yourself and emulate the behavior of a cluster around you. There is some experimental evidence for that. 

D. A.: I want to just be clear that actually there is a hypothesis out there, supported by some data, that certain microbes—particularly adenoviruses—do contribute to obesity, and in that sense, it would be contagious in the more literal sense of spreading viruses from one person to another. So we don’t want to dismiss that..."

"A group of lawmakers is planning to request a congressional investigation of a $418 million U.S. weapons sale to Kenya approved by the Obama administration on its last day in office.

The sale, approved by the State Department and privately notified to Congress on January 19, would allow Kenya to buy 14 weaponized crop-duster-like planes — including two trainer planes and services, for missions against terrorist group al-Shabaab. 

The deal was publicly announced the Monday after Trump’s inauguration. 

A handful of lawmakers, led by Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC), are questioning why the contract to produce the planes was awarded to major defense firm L3 Technologies — which has never produced such a plane — while a smaller, disabled veteran-owned company in North Carolina that already make those planes at a lower cost was not considered. 

The Mooresville, N.C. company, IOMAX USA Inc., costed out 14 planes at $237 million dollars, according to a Budd aide. 

“It looks like politics,” Budd said in a phone interview with Breitbart News on Monday. “Why are they sending it to someone that’s produced zero, for twice the price?
