CNN hosts makes 'racist' comment to 12-year-old Spelling Bee Champion | The Independent:
"A CNN host is accused of making what some are saying is a "racist" remark to 12-year-old Scripps Spelling Bee Champion Ananya Vinay who the host said likely misspelled a word on air because "its root is not in Sanskrit, which is what you're probably used to using."
Hosts Alisyn Camerota, who made the comment, and Chris Cuomo jokingly asked her to spell 'covfefe,' what Ms Camerota called a "nonsense word."
Ananya, who is of Indian origin, was born and raised in Fresno, California and had just been named the 2017 champion the previous evening. An Indian-American child has won the competition every year since 2008, and Ananya is the 13th overall to do so.
Donald Trump had used the word in a now-deleted tweet that read "Despite the constant negative press covfefe", which stayed up on his account for nearly five hours overnight as social media mercilessly mocked him for the typo.
...CNN has not responded to a request for comment on the matter.
Ms Camerota has not responded to the several tweets lambasting her for what they feel is a "racist" comment. "

'They shouted 'this is for Allah', as they stabbed indiscriminately' - How the London terror attack unfolded
'They shouted 'this is for Allah', as they stabbed indiscriminately' - How the London terror attack unfolded:
"The attack came out of the blue and out of the night.
Beneath the shadow of The Shard, Europe’s tallest skyscraper, terror hit Britain’s streets again.
At shortly after 10pm, a white B&Q van being driven at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour mounted the pavement at London Bridge and ploughed into pedestrians, knocking them down like skittles. Reports suggested some victims were thrown into the water of the Thames below.
Others may have jumped in in an attempt to avoid the speeding vehicle.
The van came to a halt on the south side of the bridge but it wasn’t the end of the carnage.
Three men wielding knives 10 inches long began attacking passersby, even entering at least one restaurant to attack Saturday night diners.
One report suggested throats had been slashed by the marauders, likely to be Islamic State-inspired terrorists – although that had not been confirmed by the early hours of this morning..."

The News Only Gets Worse For ObamaCare — And Democrats | Stock News & Stock Market Analysis - IBD:
"ObamaCare defenders now claim that premiums are rising because Trump won't guarantee to pay insurers certain subsidies for covering low-income people.
But premiums will continue rising, regardless of whether Trump pays those subsidies, because Democrats ignored basic actuarial principles when they created ObamaCare.
Democrats wanted all the credit when they passed ObamaCare in 2010 — especially for creating the health insurance exchanges. And it's important to ensure they get it."

Controversial Footage Of A B-24 Shot Down Finally Debunked! - World War Wings
"For 70 Years This Footage Was Argued Over. Now, Let’s Look At The Facts.
On May 4th, 1945, A B-24 nicknamed Brief was sent on a mission to destroy anti-aircraft installations in Koror, the capital city of Palau.
This mission was being filmed by the War Department to be used for training and news footage and was titled Mission To Koror And Arakabesan, Palau Islands.
As you’ll see, while filming Brief’s port side wing explodes and folds over, the plane spiraling down towards the earth.
After the footage was released, people have debated whether or not the plane was shot down or if another plane in the formation dropped a bomb from above.
Nowadays this debate got even more heated as the YouTube comment section is open to anyone willing to give their opinions.
To shut the lid on this controversial topic, we’ve compiled this list of facts and common sense observations....
...All in all, this event was tragic and only goes to show what World War II was like.
11 young lives lost within minutes in just one incident.
Of those, there were literally thousands.
We all thank them for their service, bravery and sacrifices.
Here’s the full video if you haven’t seen it and the 40s commentary that originally came with it.

Government Hype Helps Terrorists - Reason.com:
"John Kelly, the secretary of homeland security, seems to be moonlighting as a publicist for ISIS. How else to explain his fearmongering warnings about terrorism on Fox News last Friday?
"I was telling Steve on the way in here," Kelly said, referring to Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy, "if he knew what I know about terrorism, he'd never leave the house in the morning."
Kelly's remarks, which seemed designed to put a damper on everyone's plans for Memorial Day weekend, complemented the efforts of terrorists, who aim to provoke an emotional response that grossly exaggerates the threat they pose.
"It's everywhere," Kelly said.
"It's constant….It can happen almost here anytime."
He probably meant it can happen here almost anytime, but you get the idea:
The threat of terrorism is so severe and pervasive that it's foolhardy to venture past your front doorstep.
Contrary to Kelly's claims, terrorism is not everywhere, and it is not constant.
It is a rare event that is much less likely to kill you than myriad hazards that somehow do not deter us from leaving our homes in the morning.
From 1970 through 2016, according to numbers from the Global Terrorism Database, terrorist attacks killed 3,662 people in the United States.
Nearly 3,000 of those deaths, 82 percent of the total, resulted from the attacks of September 11, 2001.
Counting 9/11, the average is 78 deaths a year, which makes the annual risk of dying in a terrorist attack within the United States 1 in 4.2 million for a random American.
The lifetime risk, based on a life expectancy of 78.8 years, is roughly 1 in 53,000..."

53% Say Media Leaks Are Act of Treason - Rasmussen Reports™:
"When politics is the name of the game, one man’s treason is another man’s service to the nation.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just over half (53%) of all Likely U.S. Voters still consider the leaking of classified information to the media to be an act of treason.
Thirty percent (30%) disagree, while 18% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
This is largely the same way voters felt in November 2010 following WikiLeaks’ publication of top secret U.S. government data related to the war in Afghanistan and other defense and foreign policy issues.
But while 73% of Republicans consider the leaking of classified information which plagues the Trump administration as treasonous, only half as many Democrats (36%) feel that way now.
Voters not affiliated with either major party agree by a 50% to 27% margin that the leaks are an act of treason..."

While Snowflakes Melt Over Paris, Here are 25 Climate Change Charts They Don't Want You to See:
"Why should the U.S. further reduce its “carbon emissions” when the rest of the planet, oblivious regimes run by central planners in Russia and China, are happily emitting away?
Most importantly, why should American taxpayers spend billions, if not trillions, of dollars fighting a quixotic crusade to keep the planet's climate from changing?
Man's activities play but a small part in the global scope of things, and 25 graphs show that to be the case."

Sacramento Gives Free Cars to Public Housing Residents. Free CARS. | Daily Wire:
"In today's episode of "Why The Hell Do I Bother To Work For a Living," we learn that the city of Sacramento, California, has decided to purchase a fleet of cars that will be made available, free of charge, to 300 residents already using that city's public housing.
The $1.3 million used to pay for what the Sacramento Bee calls a "mini fleet," came from the state's California Environmental Protection Agency, which in turn got the money by blackmailing local businesses with cap-and-trade fines.
Gas, maintenance and insurance will also be paid for by the state, which can only mean that the $1.3 million is just the beginning of yet-another very expensive government debacle, but one that will never be repealed because if you take away people's free cars they will die.
Naturally, the cars are electric cars and come from a private company called Zipcars, a company that appears to be all about making a bundle off your tax dollars by selling to touchy-feely governments the touchy-feely idea that sharing cars is a good idea.
And since we are talking about California, I think we can all agree, then, that if it is a good idea to use your tax dollars to purchase sharing cars, using your tax dollars to purchase electric cars is an even better idea; which means nothing can top the inspired idea using your tax dollars to buy electric cars for public housing residents, amiright?
Can you feel the Utopia?..."

A fool’s errand: Al Gore’s $15 trillion carbon tax | The Liberty Conservative:
"Al Gore wants to reverse modernity and save the world from itself through an elimination of its fossil-fuel-based energy system.
During the final week of April, his newly created Energy Transitions Commission released a document setting forth a fool’s errand pathway to “decarbonize” the world’s energy system.
If you scroll through the verbiage surrounding the document, you will find the core policy recommendation is a massive, punishing carbon tax.
Gore would start the tax at $50 per ton, which would increase to $100 per ton over time, essentially destroying the market for continued robust development of the world’s fossil-fuel base.
Our economic growth and personal well-being depends on robust fossil-fuel use, so Gore’s plan would destroy these as well.
But, don’t worry!
The all-in estimated cost to re-engineer humanity is only a mere $15 trillion—enough money to give every man, woman, and child in the United States more than $46,000..."
